    The Power of Healthy Boundaries

What if saying no doesn’t make you selfish, difficult, or a bad mom? In this episode of I Just Sat Down, we’re talking about the power of healthy boundaries and why so many of us struggle to set them in the first place. As women and mothers, we’re often taught to be available, helpful, understanding, flexible, and accommodating. We say yes when we want to say no. We keep the peace. We take on more than we have the capacity for. And then we wonder why we’re exhausted, overwhelmed, and resentful. But boundaries aren’t about shutting people out. They’re not punishments, ultimatums, or attempts to control someone else’s behaviour. Boundaries are about knowing where you end and someone else begins and having the courage to honour your own needs. In this episode, we get real about: Why saying no can feel so uncomfortable The difference between a boundary and a demand People-pleasing and the fear of disappointing others Why resentment can be a sign that a boundary is missing Setting boundaries with partners, family, friends, and even our kids The guilt that can come with choosing yourself Why healthy boundaries can actually strengthen relationships The difference between protecting your peace and avoiding conflict And maybe most importantly, we’re talking about this: You can love someone deeply and still have boundaries with them. You can be a good mom and need space. You can love your family and say no. And you can choose yourself without abandoning the people you love. So grab your coffee, take a breath, and sit down with us. What’s one boundary you’ve been afraid to set because you’re worried about how someone else will react? The Weight We Carry: Body Image Beyond the Scale

The Weight We Carry: Body Image Beyond the Scale What happens when the number on the scale starts feeling like a measurement of you? In this episode of I Just Sat Down, we’re talking about body image, the scale, and the emotional weight we can carry around our bodies, especially as women and mothers. We talk about the way our relationship with our bodies can change through motherhood, aging, life experiences, and the constant pressure to look a certain way. We unpack the emotions that can come with stepping on the scale, seeing a number we weren’t expecting, comparing ourselves to who we used to be, and feeling like our bodies somehow determine our worth. Because the truth is… a number can measure weight, but it can’t measure your value. This conversation isn’t about pretending we never struggle with body image or telling ourselves we have to love every inch of ourselves every day. It’s about creating a little more compassion for the body that has carried us through everything. We’re talking about: ✨ The emotional relationship we can develop with the scale ✨ How motherhood can change the way we see our bodies ✨ Comparing our current bodies to our younger selves ✨ The pressure to “get our body back” ✨ Why weight and worth are not the same thing ✨ The difference between wanting to change your body and hating your body ✨ Giving ourselves permission to exist without constantly trying to “fix” ourselves ✨ What we’re modelling for our children when it comes to body image ✨ Learning to separate our identity from a number on a scale ✨ The weight we carry that has absolutely nothing to do with pounds Maybe you’re in a season where you love your body. Maybe you’re struggling with it. Maybe you’re somewhere in between. Wherever you are, we hope this episode reminds you that your body is not a before picture, a number, a problem to solve, or a measure of your worth. You are so much more than the number on the scale. 🎧 Grab your coffee, sit down with us, and let’s talk about The Weight We Carry. Follow along for more honest conversations about motherhood, healing, relationships, and building a life that feels good from the inside out. It Takes a Village… But What If You Don’t Have One?

We’ve all heard the phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child.” But what happens when that village doesn’t exist, or at least not in the way we hoped it would? In this episode, we explore the reality of parenting without the support system many of us expected to have. Whether you’re raising children far from family, navigating strained relationships, doing it mostly on your own, or simply feeling unsupported in the day-to-day demands of motherhood, this conversation is for you. We discuss: • The grief of not having the village you imagined • Why so many modern mothers feel isolated • Letting go of unrealistic expectations of family and friends • Building community in unconventional ways • How to become part of your own village • Practical ways to create connection and reduce isolation If you’ve ever felt like you’re carrying the weight of parenting alone, this episode serves as a reminder that you’re not the only one—and that support can sometimes be built in places we least expect. 🎙️ Listen now and join the conversation. Because motherhood was never meant to be done in isolation. NEW Episodes of 'I Just Sat Down' will be released every Monday at 10am EST.
