Stop Gossip Before It Spreads | Pastor Laura Klump

What happens when gossip finds its way into the church? In this powerful message, Pastor Laura Klump challenges us to examine the way we speak about others and recognize just how much damage gossip, rumors, assumptions, and unverified information can cause. Our words can divide—or they can bring healing. They can tear down trust—or help build a stronger church community. As followers of Jesus, we're called to something greater. We're called to speak truth, protect unity, build one another up, and become people others can trust. For church leaders, that responsibility goes even deeper. Leadership must be rooted in integrity, character, and most importantly, the Word of God.In this message, discover:• Why gossip is so dangerous to the church• How rumors and misinformation destroy trust• Why believers should build people up instead of tearing them down• How we can protect unity within the Body of Christ• Why trustworthy leadership matters• Why staying grounded in God's Word is essential for every leaderBefore repeating something about someone else, ask yourself:**Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it building the Body of Christ—or tearing it apart?**📍 Greater IMPACT Church🎙️ Pastor Laura Klump📅 August 9, 2026If this message encouraged or challenged you, share it with someone and subscribe for more messages from Greater IMPACT Church.#GreaterIMPACTChurch #Gossip #ChurchUnity #ChristianLiving #Faith #ChurchLeadership #PastorLauraKlump #Sermon #Jesus #Bible

    Why "Christian" Isn't Enough

This sermon by Pastor Mike, titled "Put to the Test," focuses on the concept of true discipleship, emphasizing that following Jesus is a gradual, costly process that requires moving beyond the title of "Christian" to become a devoted follower. The sermon centers on the conclusion of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7), highlighting that the kingdom of God demands an active, obedient faith rather than mere religious performance. Key Points  Discipleship Has a Cost: Discipleship is not a one-time event; it is a lifestyle that one gradually grows into. It requires "counting the cost," which includes being willing to lay down one's life, take up a cross, and face opposition from the world for the sake of following Christ.  The Danger of Hypocritical Judgment: Jesus commands believers to stop critiquing others' lives while ignoring their own corruption. True spiritual discernment is not about "fault-finding," but about personal repentance—taking the "plank" out of one's own eye before helping others with theirs.  The Three Tests of Faith: Pastor Mike outlines three ways God tests our devotion: 1. The Vision Test: Testing our perspective—are we looking through the lens of love and self-examination, or through the lens of judgmental condemnation? 2. The Faith Test: Testing our endurance—do we quit when life gets difficult, or do we "plug in" to prayer and community to anchor ourselves deeper? 3. The Production Test: Testing our obedience—"Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and not do what I say?" Faith is proven by the fruit it produces; hearing the Word is useless if it is not put into practice.  The Foundation of Obedience: Jesus contrasts those who hear His words and obey (the wise man building on rock) with those who hear but do not act (the foolish man building on sand). A believer’s foundation is only as strong as their obedience to the teachings of Jesus. Your Next Steps Pastor Mike concluded with five actionable steps for the congregation to implement this week:  Drop the Clipboard: When you find yourself judging others, stop immediately and shift that energy into praying for your own "construction zones."  Run the Fire Drill: When pressure spikes, avoid the urge to complain or run away; instead, run toward God through intense prayer.  "Go Live" with One Thing: Identify one command of Jesus you have been avoiding and put it into immediate, active practice.  Clear the Airwaves: Intentionally use your words to build up and support those in your immediate circle rather than adding to a cynical culture.  Dig Past the Dirt: Identify an area of your life where you have chosen the "easy way" and do the work to anchor that area in biblical truth, regardless of your comfort. This sermon provides a challenging look at the difference between superficial Christianity and active discipleship.
