Send us Fan Mail When I look back over the course of my life thus far, I recognize just how much growing I still had to do. There were seasons when I took on other people’s drama as though it belonged to me. I was the “YES” friend and the “YES” lover—sometimes saying yes when my spirit was clearly telling me no. I wasn’t always the critical thinker like my daughter that I have since learned to become, nor did I always trust what I heard, felt, saw, or intuitively knew. There were times when I recognized the truth of a person or situation but chose not to name it. I didn’t always call a spade a spade. I stayed in relationships, friendships, and circumstances longer than I should have, even when they no longer served me. And while there were certainly beautiful moments and genuine connections along the way, I can now see that, in refusing to honor what I knew, I was sometimes being unkind to myself. My charge today is different: I am reclaiming my time. I want to walk slowly through life. I want to move intuitively, intentionally, and unapologetically. I want to be honest with myself about what I hear, what I see, what I feel, and what I sense. What does this experience feel like in my body? What does it “taste” like? Does it feel truthful? Does it uplift me? Does something about it feel odd, heavy, or simply out of alignment? I am learning that maturity is not merely recognizing the energy around me—it is trusting myself enough to respond to what I recognize. I no longer want to surrender my beautiful, loving energy simply because I am capable of giving it. I want to become increasingly discerning about where that energy goes, who has access to it, and what I allow to occupy my time. This season of my life is about paying attention. It is about trusting my intuition, honoring my boundaries, telling myself the truth sooner, and having the courage to move accordingly. I am reclaiming my time, my energy, and my discernment—and learning to move through life with my eyes, heart, and spirit fully open.
