We were raised on patterns of chaos, rejection, silence, abuse, neglect, manipulation — or just twisted stories of what love really is. The lessons we learned from our role models and from society are not working and it’s so obvious. So now we’re figuring it out, learning together, one lesson at a time.     This is the episode where I stop just telling the story and actually break it apart. I talk about how the relationship ended, what freedom felt like, and the red flags that made it impossible to keep going. There were six that showed up over and over: blame and shame, desperation, low self worth, avoiding the truth, force and control, and fear. None of them were one-sided — I carried my own part in each of them, and so did she. That’s what made it so destructive. It wasn’t just about the screaming, the hitting, or the threats. It was about the foundation underneath all of that, the choices we made, and the way we both avoided real responsibility.
