Why Fit In When You Can Stand Out

Send us Fan Mail Why is it so difficult to live differently when you know what you believe? Have you ever found yourself compromising a conviction simply because it was easier to fit in? Maybe you know what you want to change. Maybe you feel God leading you in a different direction. But then comes the meal, the social occasion, the pressure from friends, the old habit or that little voice saying: “Everyone does it.” “Just have one.” “Why are you being so strict?” “You’re missing out.” So why do we find it so difficult to say no? And perhaps the bigger question is: Who are you becoming while you’re trying to fit in? In this episode of The Muddy Cross, Dee and Jodie explore what it really means to follow God when obedience sometimes makes you different. Drawing from Romans 12:1–2, Matthew 7:13–14, Daniel 1:8–16, 1 Corinthians 10:23, 1 Corinthians 6:12, Galatians 1:10 and Galatians 6:7–9, we look at: • Why transformation may require us to become comfortable with being different • How we can compromise our convictions simply because we want to fit in • What Daniel can teach us about deciding before the pressure comes • Whether freedom always means saying yes • How something can be permissible but still not be good for us • How small choices can shape our habits, character and direction • Who we’re really trying to please • What could happen if we stopped negotiating with our convictions and started consistently living them This isn’t about judging other people’s choices or believing we’re better than anyone else. It’s about honestly asking: Where am I changing my convictions because I want to fit in? And: Where is the road I’m currently walking actually taking me? Dee and Jodie are beginning their own six-month transformation journey, exploring what might happen if they stop continually negotiating with the convictions they already know and start consistently living them. Because standing out isn’t the goal. Faithfulness is. If you’re trying to grow in your faith, strengthen your relationship with God and make changes that actually last, join us for the journey. Are You Carrying Burdens God Didn't Ask For? | The Muddy Cross Podcast

Send us Fan Mail Are you exhausted... but can't work out why? What if the weight you're carrying was never yours to carry in the first place? So often we take on anxiety, responsibility, expectations, other people's problems, and even good opportunities, believing we're doing the right thing. But what if God is actually inviting us to lay some of those things down? In this episode of The Muddy Cross, we explore what Scripture says about carrying the right burdens, discerning God's assignment for your life, and finding freedom in trusting Him instead of trying to carry everything yourself. Together we look at the stories of Martha and Mary, Moses, and Jesus Himself, discovering that even Jesus only did what the Father asked of Him. We'll explore: • Why good opportunities aren't always God's assignment. • The difference between compassion and taking responsibility for everyone. • How to recognise invisible burdens like worry, guilt and comparison. • Why God calls us to cast our burdens on Him, not carry them alone. • How laying something down can actually be an act of obedience. What Comes Next?

Send us Fan Mail What if the season that feels most uncertain is the one God is using to prepare you? When a chapter closes and you don't know what comes next, it's easy to feel stuck, forgotten, or unsure of your purpose. But throughout Scripture, some of God's greatest servants experienced long seasons of waiting before they stepped into what God had prepared for them. In this episode, we explore the stories of Joseph, Moses, David, and Jesus, and what they teach us about trusting God when life doesn't make sense. This conversation builds on last week's episode about value—where we explored what happens when we lose sight of our worth and rediscover that our value comes from God, not from what we do. This week, we ask the next question: What happens when you've accepted that truth, but you still don't know what comes next? If you're navigating loss, change, disappointment, or uncertainty, this episode is a reminder that God hasn't forgotten you, He isn't finished with you, and your waiting season is not wasted. 📖 Key Scriptures: Genesis 50:20, Psalm 27:14, Isaiah 40:31, Philippians 1:6 #ChristianPodcast #FaithInWaiting #TrustGod #ChristianEncouragement #Purpose Support the show ========================================= Support the show - simply follow the link below. https:/www.buymeacoffee.com/themuddycross ========================================= Like listening to us? - Why not watch us too https://www.youtube.com/@TheMuddyCrossPodcast =========================================  Visit our website https://www.themuddycross.com =========================================
