I have been hearing about Melina’s life in snippets since I met her in 2011. I knew her history was traumatic, and painful and also a huge part of who she was in the present day. I know she has been writing about it for years, piecing together her family history with dedication, attention to detail and a detectives mind. I had read some of Melina’s book and been blown away by her writing. And now, hearing her story come alive, in her exquisite writers and readers voice is a thrill! A whole different dimension. You can tell how much work she has done examining her own experiences that in many ways formed her and in other ways made her so different from the rest of her family. Hearing about her burgeoning experience as a young writer in the podcast is a beautiful and portentous clue to what comes next. We are on episode 4 and soon I’m going to be waiting with bated breath for the next one to “drop”!
