    Have you ever wondered what it would be like if a classical composer created an extreme metal album? Well, that’s exactly what happened on the latest album, Cathexis, by the Mexican extreme metal band, Phendrana. The multi-instrumentalist in classical composer, also has an affinity in love for some of the most extreme and heavy of metal music, so it would only make sense to combine the two in his sophomore effort, Cathexis. A truly textured and dynamic album, the man behind the project, Anuar Salum Incorporated, some classical and symphonic elements to create one grandiose sound. Whether it’s the sheer brutality, the contrasting drama, or meticulously written, progressive metal elements I had to find out what went into this album. We talk about how he balances his love for both, and his ability to incorporate elements of both while separating the two sounds. We also talk about the Mexican metal scene. We talk about how he writes such intricate yet marathon songs and so much more.

An action packed week of music discovery, I not only tell you what albums are dropping, but I review them, telling you what I thought of these albums, give a rating for the album, and even give a small snippet of a song for a free sample.  As a lifelong music fan, who loves metal, rock, punk and any other style of heavy music, I scour the earth looking for the best in music from new releases to those hidden gems that passed us by. Fired Up For Friday is a new podcast series letting listeners know the new, must hear music dropping every Friday.     Frank D'Erasmo (Legionary) on the Upcoming Album, Being A Multi-Instrumentalist and More!

    On Episode 70 of The Distorted Dialogue Podcast, Frank D'Erasmo, the man behind the Thrash Metal band Legionary, swings by to talk about the upcoming album, The Never Ending Quest For Purpose, the growth and sound changes that make this album more epic than previous releases and so much more. We discuss how Fran approaches the writing process, as it is just him, how he arranged the tracks, how he discovered the few musicians who also contributed to the record, being Condition Critical's guitarist Tony Barhoum on leads and As I Lay Dying vocalist Chris Clancey. A truly captivating thrash metal record, full of riffs, but having a larger more grandiose sound, and positivity packed lyrics made this an easy album to keep smashing the play button on. I thought the record was so good, I reached out to Tony to find more out about it, and I figured I would share it with you. A Never Ending Quest For Purpose drops on March 6th, and this is an album you just have to hear, as is this interview, as it tells you how much Frank put into this album. Frank is no stranger to Thrash beginning tin the 2000's, he has worked tirelessly delivering quality thrash metal to the masses and this new album, The Never Ending Quest For Purpose is coming in hot and heavy. I want to thank Frank for taking time out of his busy schedule to chat with me about the album, and on such short notice.
