Spiritual Warfare: Praying in The Spirit

Spiritual Warfare: Praying in the Spirit | Series Finale What do you do after you’ve put on the armor of God? You pray. Throughout our Spiritual Warfare series, we’ve walked through the armor described in Ephesians 6: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. But Paul’s teaching doesn’t stop when he names the armor. In Ephesians 6:18, he urges believers to pray in the Spirit on all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests, and to stay alert as they pray for one another. In this final episode, Bud Shropshire and Brandon Butler talk about why prayer belongs in every part of the believer’s walk. What does it mean to pray in the Spirit? Do you need special words, or can you come to God honestly when you’re exhausted and don’t know what to say? How do you remain watchful without becoming consumed by fear? And why is praying for other believers part of standing firm? Spiritual warfare isn’t something we face by relying on our own strength. We need God’s help when temptation comes, when fear rises, when someone we love is struggling, and when the battle seems to go on longer than we expected. Prayer keeps us turning to Him in those moments. It reminds us that we are never called to stand alone. Join Bud and Brandon as they close the series with an honest, practical conversation about making prayer part of everyday life—not just a last resort when things fall apart. Wherever you are in your walk with Christ, we hope this episode encourages you to stay alert, pray for others, and keep trusting God as you stand firm. Signs & Shadows — Watching the signs. Spiritual Warfare: Sword of The Spirit

Spiritual Warfare: The Sword of the Spirit What do you reach for when fear fills your mind, temptation feels stronger than your resolve, or a lie starts to sound like the truth? In Ephesians 6:17, Paul tells believers to take “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” God has given us his Word to help us recognize what is true and stand firm when we face spiritual battles. In this episode of Signs & Shadows, Bud Shropshire and Brandon Butler continue the Spiritual Warfare series with a conversation about the Sword of the Spirit. We look at how Jesus answered the devil’s temptations with Scripture in Matthew 4, and what his example teaches us about knowing God’s Word before a difficult moment comes. We also talk about why a verse taken out of context can mislead us, and why understanding what Scripture says matters as much as being able to quote it. The Sword of the Spirit is for more than the moments we recognize as spiritual attacks. God’s Word helps us test what we hear, confront sin in our own lives, resist temptation, and hold on to truth when our feelings pull us in another direction. We’ll discuss practical ways to spend time in Scripture and bring what we read into everyday decisions, conversations, and prayer. If you have ever wondered how to use the Bible in spiritual warfare without turning it into a collection of slogans, join Bud and Brandon for this episode. Open your Bible with us, examine what God has said, and consider where you need to stand on his truth today. Watching the signs. Exposing the shadows.

    Spiritual Warfare: Helmet of Salvation

The battle for your mind is real, and that is why God has given believers the Helmet of Salvation. In this episode of the Spiritual Warfare series, Bud Shropshire and Brandon Butler examine Paul’s instruction in Ephesians 6:17: “Take the helmet of salvation.” Just as a physical helmet protects a soldier’s head during battle, the assurance of salvation protects our minds from the attacks of the enemy. Satan often targets our thoughts with fear, doubt, confusion, shame, temptation, and condemnation. He wants us to question whether God truly loves us, whether we have really been forgiven, and whether we are strong enough to keep going. But the Helmet of Salvation reminds us that our hope does not rest on our emotions, our circumstances, or our ability to be perfect. Our salvation rests on the finished work of Jesus Christ. Together, we discuss what salvation means, how we can know that we belong to Christ, and how the truth of the gospel helps us recognize and reject the enemy’s lies. We also explore the importance of renewing our minds with Scripture, guarding what we allow into our thoughts, and choosing to believe God’s promises when our feelings tell us something different. The enemy may attack your mind, but he does not get to define your identity. If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, you are forgiven, redeemed, adopted, and secure in Him. Put on the Helmet of Salvation, stand firm in the truth, and remember who you belong to. Listen now and share this episode with someone who may be struggling with fear, doubt, or condemnation.
