The Tape Recorder Trilogy

I am so glad to have found this great podcast which, in turn, introduced me to the wonderful book series. Right from the get-go, I found this to be a beautiful and compelling narrative of an impossible life story that spans the full history of humanity. With its beginnings long before the concept of written histories, what ultimately makes this tale so uniquely believable is an exacting level of detail in the description of the people, places, differing societal structures, and how the peoples of each time and region interacted with each other and with the world around them. Personally, I think that anything less than what must have been an epic amount of research to provide such detail to the audience, would have put the story too far beyond what one could reasonably accept as believable, leaving too much to be dependent on the audience’s imagination. I wish I could give more than 5/5⭐️s for this one! The story’s concept alone is staggeringly ambitious, and the fact that its telling was completed, AND very skillfully read aloud audiobook-style, is a true testament to the depth of the dedication and talent of the author.
