The Holiness of CHRIST MARK 4: 35-41

The Holiness of CHRIST MARK 4: 35-41 Pastor Darrell Young MARK 4: 35-41 In Mark 4:35–41, we witness the awesome power and holiness of Jesus Christ as He calms a raging storm on the Sea of Galilee. While the disciples struggle against the wind and waves, Jesus sleeps in the boat. When they awaken Him in fear, Christ rebukes the wind and commands the sea, “Peace, be still.” Immediately, the wind ceases, and there is a great calm. This miraculous event reveals far more than Christ's power over nature. It reveals His divine identity. The disciples are left asking, “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” The One who stands before them is no ordinary teacher. Jesus possesses the authority of God Himself, ruling over creation with a word. The holiness of Christ confronts us with the majesty, purity, and absolute sovereignty of our Lord. His presence exposes the weakness of our faith and reminds us that we often fear the storms around us more than we trust the One who reigns over them. The disciples' fear gives way to awe as they begin to recognize the greatness of the One who is with them. This passage also reminds us that Christ's presence does not mean we will never face trials. Rather, our confidence rests in who He is. The Lord who created the sea is sovereign over it, and nothing in creation lies beyond His authority. Join Pastor Darrell as we examine The Holiness of CHRIST and consider what this account teaches us about the divine nature of Jesus, the fear of the Lord, and the call to trust Him even in the midst of life's fiercest storms. Christ is holy. Christ is sovereign. All creation obeys His voice. Our response must be reverent fear, humble faith, and worship.

The Kingdom Parables MARK 4: 21-34

The Kingdom Parables MARK 4: 21-34 Pastor Darrell Young MARK 4: 21-34 In Mark 4:21–34, Jesus continues teaching about the Kingdom of God through a series of parables that reveal the nature, purpose, and growth of His Kingdom. Through the parable of the lamp, the measure, the growing seed, and the mustard seed, Christ teaches us that God's Kingdom operates according to His divine wisdom and sovereign power. Jesus declares that a lamp is not meant to be hidden, but placed where it can give light. The truth of God's Kingdom, revealed through Christ and His Word, will not remain concealed forever. What God has made known must be heard, received, and proclaimed faithfully. In the parable of the growing seed, Jesus reveals that the Kingdom grows according to God's power, even when the process is unseen or beyond our understanding. The farmer sows the seed, but he cannot make it grow. In the same way, the advancement of God's Kingdom does not depend ultimately on human strength or wisdom, but on the sovereign work of God. The mustard seed further illustrates how God's Kingdom may begin in ways that appear small and insignificant, yet grow according to His purpose. What seems unimpressive to the world cannot limit the power of God to accomplish His redemptive plan through Jesus Christ. Join Pastor Darrell as we examine The Kingdom Parables and discover what these teachings reveal about the Word of God, the growth of Christ's Kingdom, and our responsibility to faithfully proclaim the Gospel. God's Kingdom advances according to His sovereign purpose. His Word gives light, His power brings growth, and His redemptive plan will accomplish all that He intends.

Christ Reveals the Mystery MARK 4: 1-20

Christ Reveals the Mystery MARK 4: 1-20 Pastor Darrell Young MARK 4: 1-20 In Mark 4:1–20, Jesus teaches the parable of the sower, revealing profound truths about the Kingdom of God and the condition of the human heart. Through this parable, Christ explains why the same Gospel message produces different responses in different people. The seed is sown, but not every heart receives the Word of God in the same way. Jesus reveals that understanding the mysteries of the Kingdom is not ultimately a matter of human wisdom or ability. The truth of God's Kingdom is revealed according to His grace, while hardened hearts, shallow faith, and worldly distractions prevent many from bearing spiritual fruit. The parable presents four different responses to the Word of God: the hardened path, the rocky ground, the thorny soil, and the good soil. Each reveals the dangers of hearing God's Word without truly receiving it, enduring in faith, and bearing fruit. Outward appearances can be deceiving, but genuine faith is demonstrated by a life transformed through the power of God's Word. In this sermon, Pastor Darrell examines Christ Reveals the Mystery and challenges us to consider how we receive the Word of God. Are we merely hearing the Gospel, or is the Word taking root and producing fruit in our lives? The message reminds us that salvation is a work of God's grace and that the Gospel must be received with a heart made receptive by His gracious work. Our hope is not in ourselves, but in Jesus Christ, who reveals the truth of God's Kingdom. The seed is the Word. Christ reveals the mystery. And the evidence of genuine faith is fruit produced by the power of God's grace.
