Judging Judy #24 - Wig or Without You (comedy podcast)

Coming to us from the high-flying days of early 2017, we’ve got two classic cases from Judge Judy. First, a custom wig order gone wrong. Second, a grandmother trades $3,000 for the right to see her grandkids; now she wants her money back. Will Judy side with the lady who never got the wig she was promised? Will she rule in favor of the plaintiff who says her ex-son-in-law never paid her back as he promised? And, just as importantly, will we find that Judy is innocent…or is she guilty? Because this is Judging Judy, the only podcast that turns the tables on America’s favorite, least favorite judge. Enjoying the pod? Consider supporting us by sending a dollar or two our way at tiptopjar.com/judgingjudy. Or don’t. Whatever. I’m not your boss  In Case 1, Abidemi says the salon never got her wig order right. Not only did they skip measuring her head, but they got the part all wrong. Even after they tried to fix it, she wasn’t happy. But when her credit card company sided with the salon, the only place she could turn was daytime TV. Judy has to decide whether or not the contract Abidemi signed is valid or if the customer really is always right. Case 2 pits a former mother-in-law against the father of her grandchildren. When he was injured, he took $3,000 from her; in exchange, he let her see the grandkids, even though his ex-wife tried to keep them away from her. Although she was happy to help him pay his bills, she says it was meant as a loan. After all, she doesn’t have a job either — all she does is gamble with her fiancee’s money. Our judge will have to decide if this dad is derelict in his duties to the lady formerly known as his mother-in-law. In the end, the real decision is ours. We have to consider Judy’s decisions, sure, but also her conduct, her words, her behavior and her entertainment factor. Only then will we be able to determine if Judy is innocent or guilty. Are you a fan of the Doughboys and Cinephobe? What about All Fantasy Everything? Well, how about Comedy Bang Bang? I only ask these questions because Judging Judy is perfect for fans of any and all of these podcasts! Unafraid to critically examine pop-culture icon Judge Judy, this comedy podcast is like no other. A mix of recap show, nostalgia trip and social examination, Judging Judy reexamines the people and the cases that dominated our TVs through a whole new lens. Offering a fresh, funny, light-hearted but also clever perspective and a voice like no other, make Judging Judy the next podcast in your rotation.

Judging Judy #23 - Rift of the Mad Guy (comedy podcast)

It’s back to 1997 this week in a classic case of mad mom versus bad dad. She says he’s abusive, an untrustworthy drug addict and late on paying his fare share of their bills. He says he should get cash because she won’t let him see their kid. All the while, their kid is caught in the middle. Will Judy side with mommy or daddy in this family feud? And, even more importantly, will we find Judy innocent or guilty of delivering justice? Because, of course, this is the only podcast that turns the tables on America’s favorite least favorite TV judge. Support the pod(if you want!) —> https://tiptopjar.com/judgingjudy After years of marriage, Vicky’s sick of Louis and his deadbeat dad, drug-abusing ways. The divorce is already in the works, but she says he owes her big. Louis admits to having had a bad history with drugs, but says he’s clean now and doesn’t owe her a thing. In fact, he says he’s the one who deserves a payday since she’s cutting into his visitation rights.  Will Judy agree that he’s a bruiser and a loser? Will Judy think a bad marriage is a good enough reason for Vicky to get paid?  Or will the Judy side with Louis and give him a big, fat $4,300 pay check? Judging Judy is the comedy podcast that offers an uncompromising view of American pop cultural icon, Judy Sheindlin. Using cases from her long running daytime TV show as its jumping off point, we examine whether or not Judy truly acted fairly, in her conduct and in her decisions. Given the impact Judy had on our culture and our society, it’s about time she gets the magnifying glass on her! Fans of podcasts like the Doughboys, Cinephobe, Comedy Bang Bang and All Fantasy Everything will fit right in listening to hilarious Judging Judy. You don’t even have to be a fan of the original Judge Judy show: each episode, we do a recap of what was going on in the world when the episode originally aired, then deliver a play-by-play of the case Judy say. Judging Judy #22 - Aunt Mom: Quantmomania (comedy podcast)

Marnie says her aunt ought to pay — for the kid she never adopted! In a case seemingly pulled straight from the comic books, this is Judging Judy, the only podcast that turns the tables on America’s favorite TV judge. This week’s case comes from back in November 1997. Judy’s wading right into a family disaster: she’ll have to decide whether Marnie will get any cash for not holding up her end of the dealing and adopting her kid. And we will have to decide whether or not Judy did her job: is Judy innocent or guilty? We’re in a true multiverse situation. Marnie says almost ten years ago, her aunt agreed to adopt her kid. But something went wrong and the adoption never happened — and Marnie only found out years later. Now, the state is suing Marnie for back child support. Marnie thinks her aunt ought to pay since all of this would have been avoided if her aunt had followed through and taken in the kid legally.  Marnie owes over $4,000; unless, of course, Judy decides that her aunt has to pay instead. Ultimately, we have just as important a task. We have to decide whether Judy provided justice not just to Marnie and her mom, but to the audience at home, to you and to me. At long last, we are the arbiters of Judy’s fate.  Judging Judy is a comedy perfect for fans of the Doughboys, Stephen Colbert, Medical Police, David Wain, Josh Gondelman and Cinephobe. With an irreverent angle on America’s favorite TV judge, Judging Judy carefully examines the cases Judy saw in court while also analyzing the Judge herself. For decades, Judy held a revered place in the cultural mind space. But, for so long, Judy was the only judge in town, passing judgement on all of us. No more. Finally, we get to judge Judy. A dynamic, one-of-a-kind popular podcast, Judge Judy challenges you to rethink what you know about that favorite TV judge.

Judging Judy #21- Dealer or No Dealer (a comedy podcast)

Coming to us from back in 2008, this week on Judging Judy, we’ve got one case that’s all about a drug dealer seeking redemption and one about a man hopelessly, perhaps foolishly, in love. Will Judy side with the friend who tried to bail her meth dealer out of jail? Will Judy reward the guy who just kept giving his girlfriend cars, no matter what she did with them? And, most importantly, will we find Judy innocent or guilty? Because this is the Judging Judy podcast, the comedy podcast that turns the tables on America’s favorite TV judge. Enjoying Judging Judy? Considering support us -----> https://tiptopjar.com/judgingjudy Amy says she paid to get her friend Edward out of jail but that he never paid her back. He says that her help was unsolicited and that she only wanted him out on the streets so that he could keep getting her drugs. Throw in some domestic abuse, a few more arrests and a newborn baby and we’ve got quite the case on our hands. It will be up to Judy to decide whether Amy was doing the right thing and got shafted or if she was only looking out for herself and got exactly what she deserved. First Noah leased his girlfriend a car. When she didn’t pay the bills, they repossessed it. Then he rented her a car; then she wrecked it. Now he wants to be paid back. But she says that they were in a relationship and that she never agreed to pay a cent. Judy’s going to have to decide whether Noah was a fool for ever believing Catherine — especially given her history with not paying her car bills.  And, ultimately, we will have to decide whether or not the judge delivered justice. Each week, we take an episode from Judge Judy’s deep archives of classic daytime TV. We do a play-by-play of the cases that came before the judge, and then we take the gavel: we decide if Judge Judy is innocent or guilty.   Fans of the Doughboys, Cinephobe, All Fantasy Everything and Stephen Colbert will feel right at home with Judging Judy, the hilarious podcast that challenges America’s least favorite favorite judge. Like no other personality on TV before her, Judy Shendlin encapsulated America: brash, sharp and unforgiving. But while Judy was able to make rulings on Americans for nearly three decades, it’s only now, with the Judging Judy podcast, that we get to examine the Judge with the same kind of rigor. Equally witty, snarky and smart, Judging Judy is unafraid to ask the questions you want answered on one of America’s pop culture icons.

Judging Judy #20 - Dads Just Wanna Have Guns (a comedy podcast)

Coming to us from all the way back in 1997, we’ve got two cases involving dads: but only one case involving guns! Will Judy rule in favor of the dad who thinks he has the right to bear arms? Will she side with the dad who had his carpet destroyed by bleach? And, of course, will Judge Judy deliver justice? That last question can only be answered by us because, of course, this is the Judging Judy podcast, the only comedy podcast that turns the tables on America’s least favorite favorite TV judge. Consider supporting Judging Judy -----> https://tiptopjar.com/judgingjudy In our first case, a suicidal retiree is angry at his son for taking away his guns. Sure, he tried to kill himself four times, and he tried to kill his wife at least once, but he still thinks he’s entitled to his guns! His son claims that he was trying to protect his father and mother, and that if his dad really wants the money, he’ll even buy the guns from his dad. Judy’s going to have to decide if one man’s right to put guns on his wall prevails over his son’s right to not see his dad hurt himself or others. Will she side with father or son? Will she ensure the guy gets his gun back, no matter the consequences? Or will she side with common sense? Our second case is the result of teenaged rough-housing gone wrong. When two neighbors are left alone for a few minutes, all hell breaks loose. A snake becomes a weapon. A slurpee becomes a weapon. Bleach becomes a weapon! Eventually, the carpet is destroyed — and now one of the dad wants the money to get it fixed. It’s going to be up to Judy to see through all the nonsense to figure out who’s responsible for what and who ought to pay. And, more importantly, it will be up to us to decide if Judy is guilty or innocent. Each week, we take a look at cases from the extensive backlog of Judge Judy episodes. We watch the case, yes, but what we’re really doing is watching Judy. Given her pop culture status and social impact for over 25 years, it’s about time we give Judy the same critical eye as she gave people in her courtroom. We’re looking to see if she delivered justice: to the plaintiffs, the defendants, and to you and me at home. If she did, she’s innocent. If not, she’s guilty. A hilarious podcast without equal, Judging Judy is for those nostalgic for times bygone but also aware of how daytime TV judges like Judy shaped our culture. If you’re looking for a comedy podcast in the spirit of Comedy Bang Bang, the Doughboys, Cinephobe and All Fantasy Everything, Judging Judy is perfect for you. If you’ve got a critical side, willing to challenge one of the biggest names in TV, Judging Judy is for you. If you want to listen to the next big podcast before all your friends do, Judging Judy is for you.

Judging Judy 19 - Portrait of a Plantiff as a Young Clown (comedy podcast)

Welcome back to 1999 — when beauty was dangerous and dresses were four times more expensive than you expected! And, welcome back to Judging Judy, the ridiculously popular comedy podcast that turns the tables on America’s least favorite TV judge. This week, our first case is about permanent make up gone wrong…or did it? Sonia and her friend allege that these tattoos were supposed to make them beautiful and make their lives easier in the process; except, they say, it was botched. Not only did they suffer through unbearable pain, they also say the permanent cosmetics left them looking less like models and more like clown. David, the salon owner, claims nothing went wrong and that these two are just out to make a buck — and all at his expense. It will be up to connect the dots and decide if the price of beauty was just too much. Then, we move onto a bride who just wanted four bridesmaids dresses without paying a fortune. Unfortunately, the colleague who made them for her says all her work went unpaid: to the tune of $1,600! Maybe it was a misunderstanding. Or maybe one of them is trying to play fast and loose with the truth. Eventually, the bride to be had to find new dresses, and just days before her nuptials. Meanwhile, the dressmaker still hasn’t got her money! Who will Judy believe in this case of deceptive dressmaking? And, of course, what will our ruling be? Will we find Judy innocent, will we think she did her job? Or will her antics be too much, will we find Judy guilty? That’s our duty on Judging Judy: to judge the Judge. For over twenty five years, Judge Judy was an American icon, a stalwart of daytime TV and a media force to be reckoned with. A pop culture diva that transcended class and racial boundaries, Judge Judy was a household name. But for the all judging Judy do of us, we never turned the mirror back on her: until now. Each week, we decide if Judy truly delivered justice not just to the plaintiffs and defendants in her court but also to us, the public at large.  Equally comedic and critical, Judging Judy is a nostalgic look back at the Judge Judy phenomena. Along with a play-by-play of the cases that came before Judy in her Hollywood court, we examine what was going on in the world when the episode first aired, and we examine the role the Judge played in the world around her. Fans of the Doughboys, Comedy Bang Bang, Cinephobe and All Fantasy everything will feel right at home with Judging Judy. Whether you’re a 90s Baby, a Baby Boomer or part of the mysterious Generation Z, tune in each week to Judging Judy for a refreshing, challenging and dynamic comedy podcast like no other.

Judging Judy #18 - Kicking Cousins (comedy podcast)

Forbidden love causes two young cousins to come to blows — with each other! This week, we’re looking at a classic case of a bad romance from all the way back on December 19, 2006. When Kalaysha & Robert were told to cool it with their budding affair, things got pretty dicey. There was taunting. There was graffiti. There were threats. And, ultimately, there was a playground beatdown. While weighing the relative dangers of incest and offering up unsolicited and misguided parenting advice, it’s up to Judy to decide whether Robert’s mom has to pay Kalaysha’s medical bills. And it’s up to us to decide whether Judy is innocent or guilty. Because this, of course, is the hilarious Judging Judy podcast, the only comedy podcast that turns the tables on America’s most storied institution, the one, the only, Judge Judy. For over 25 years, Judy passed judgement over the daytime TV airwaves. However, while she was able to dish out her opinions for decades, no one was prepared to judge the Judge. Well, now, that’s our duty. Each week, we do a dynamic, nostalgic-filled and unpredictable play-by-play of an episode from the archives of the world’s most popular and potent TV judge. However, what we’re interested in is not just the case itself but also the actions of the judge. Did she deliver justice? Did she behave herself? Did she act fairly?  That’s for us to decide. Perfect for fans of Doughboys, Cinephobe, All Fantasy Everything, and Comedy Bang Bang, Judging Judy is a unique comedy podcast, combining laser sharp wit, social commentary and pop-culture nostalgia. Challenging an American icon, Judging Judy reexamines the phenomenon of Judge Judy: the society that created her and the society she impacted. Getting beneath the service of the episodes, Judging Judy offers a look back at the way the world was while commenting on the way the world is today. Fans are guaranteed a thoughtful, uproarious adventure each week by listening to Judging Judy.

Judging Judy #17 - Dents and Sensibility (a comedy podcast)

We return this week to a time when Independence Day was the biggest movie and Jewel’s music was new: that’s right, it’s 1996 on Judging Judy, the only podcast that turns the tables on America’s least favorite favorite TV judge. Our first case has an old crotchety TV repairman going to battle with two longtime customers of his, but not about a TV: they’re fighting about a car! He convinced them to sell it to them, only to try to back out of the deal after his wife told him it was a piece of junk. Now they won’t give him his money back and he’s real mad! Judy will have to decide he if deserves the $4,200 or if this is one mess that won’t be fixed. In our second case, two conniving teenagers abuse the trust of an older friend by spending over $2,300 on a calling card she let them use. If that isn’t a jolt of nostalgia, I don’t know what is! They claim she never set any limits on how many calls they could make and they tried to set up a payback schedule, but she wasn’t interested in piecemeal payments. She says she only did it because she felt bad for them, but will Judy feel bad for her? Or will Judy decide that she ought to have known better than to let these two known long-distance miscreants get anywhere near her phone bill? Those, of course, are all interesting question, but the most interesting question we answer each week is, Did Judy do her job? If she did, she’s innocent. If not, she’s guilty! We take our duty to Judge Judy pretty seriously. Judging Judy is a popular comedy podcast dedicated to reexamining the famous TV judge by taking her episodes and turning them upside down. Yes, we review the cases with a detailed play-by-play, but then we judge the Judge herself. Did she provide justice? Was she fair? Though Judging Judy is hilarious and full of laughs, it’s also interested in a careful, thoughtful reconsideration of the cultural impact Judge Judy had and the role she had in our public discourse.  In the spirit of other fan-favorite podcasts like the Doughboys, Cinephobe, Comedy Bang Bang and All Fantasy Everything, Judging Judy is a nostalgic, spirited and one-of-a-kind pop culture infused look at society yesterday, society today and society tomorrow. With a new episode every week and decades of Judge Judy to pull out of the archives, Judging Judy promises to bring you something you’ve never heard before.
