    The Call of A Disciple - Luke 9:18-27

    One question sits at the center of everything: who is Jesus? Not “what do people say,” not “what did you grow up hearing,” but what you personally believe when the stakes are highest. We open Luke 9:18-27 and follow the tension as Jesus moves from the crowd’s opinions to a direct demand for a clear confession. Peter gets the headline right: Jesus is the Christ of God, the promised Messiah, the anointed King foretold across the Old Testament storyline.  But we don’t stop at the label. We talk about the shock that follows when Jesus explains what kind of Messiah he is: the Son of Man who must suffer, be rejected, be killed, and rise again. That “must” matters. We connect the Son of Man in Daniel 7 to the suffering servant of Isaiah 53, and we walk through why the cross is not a tragic accident but God’s redemptive plan. If you’ve ever asked “Why did Jesus have to die?” we lay out a clear, Bible-shaped answer: God’s holiness and justice, our inability to pay our debt, Jesus as our willing substitute, and the cross as the place where mercy and justice meet.  Then we let Jesus define discipleship in his own words: deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow me. We explore what self-denial actually means, why “take up your cross” is far more than an inconvenience, and why trying to save your life on your own terms ends in loss.     To God Be the Glory of the Nations

    God does a lot of things in the Bible that make sense to us only after we ask one hard question: what is God ultimately after? We follow a clear pattern running from the Old Testament to the New Testament, where God repeatedly says He acts “for my name’s sake.” That phrase can sound unsettling until we slow down and see what it means for real people, real sin, and real hope. We connect the dots through key passages like Psalm 23, Ezekiel 36, Isaiah 48, and then land in Ephesians 1 and 2 where salvation is described as “to the praise of his glorious grace.” God’s glory and your salvation are not competing goals. They converge. God gets praise, we get Christ. God displays grace, we receive mercy. That’s why the message can say it plainly: God’s highest glory is your greatest good. Send us Fan Mail

    The Mann̶a̶ From Heaven - Luke 9:10-17

    A full stomach is not the same thing as a full soul, and John 6 proves it. We start with the feeding of the 5,000, one of the only miracles recorded in all four Gospels, and then follow the crowd into what happens next. The same people who watched Jesus multiply bread and fish quickly reveal what they really want: more bread, more signs, and a king who will fix their world on their terms.  We slow down over the crowd’s attempt to take Jesus by force and make him king, and we talk honestly about how easy it is to treat Jesus as useful rather than worship him as Lord. That tension shows up in everyday life: wanting God’s help, wanting God’s gifts, wanting circumstances to change, but hesitating when Jesus calls for repentance, obedience, and trust. John’s Gospel makes the point sharp: you can seek after Jesus without actually wanting Jesus.  Send us Fan Mail

    When God Speaks, Listen - Luke 9:1-6

    “Shake the dust off your feet” gets used like a tough-love slogan, but Jesus meant something far more serious. In this sermon, Pastor Trent opens Luke 9:1–6 where we see Jesus commission the twelve apostles, giving them real authority and a temporary empowering for ministry. He sends them out with a surprising strategy: travel light, depend on God’s provision, and keep moving even when people refuse to listen. That’s not just logistics, it’s training for a lifetime of gospel mission. Then the message camps out on the line that should stop us cold: when a town refuses to receive the messengers, they’re told to shake the dust off as a testimony against them. In its original Jewish context, dust-shaking marked separation from unclean pagan territory, which is why it’s shocking that Jesus applies it inside Israel. The warning lands on us too: proximity to the things of God is not the same as knowing God.     Common Christians - Luke 6:12-16

    Jesus didn’t build the early church with the obvious picks. He prayed all night, then chose a group the world would call average, complicated, and even incompatible. That’s where this sermon begins start as we look back to Luke 6:12–16 and meet the twelve apostles up close, under the theme “Common Christians.”  We talk through why Jesus intentionally chose twelve, how that number connects to the twelve tribes of Israel, and why it matters for understanding the gospel storyline. We also unpack the difference between “disciple” and “apostle,” and what it means that an apostle is a commissioned representative, an ambassador who carries the message and authority of the One who sends him. Along the way, we trace how Jesus fulfills what Israel failed to be and how the new covenant people of God expand to all nations.  Then we sit with the uncomfortable encouragement: Jesus chooses common men on purpose. Fishermen who likely weren’t the top rabbinic students. A tax collector. A zealot. Not a stacked resume, not a celebrity lineup, but a living display of grace so God gets the glory.     Desperate Faith and Tender Power - Luke 8:40-56

    In Luke 8:40-56 two people collide on a crowded road and both are running out of time. Jairus is a respected synagogue leader with a dying daughter, and an unnamed woman has spent twelve years suffering, isolated, and broke from seeking medical help that never worked. What happens next is not just a miracle story, it’s a clear look at who Jesus is when pressure is high: powerful enough to command nature, sickness, and death, yet tender enough to stop for one trembling person in the middle of a crowd.     Contend: Keep Loving Jesus as He Keeps You - Jude 17-25
