025: Slow Down to Hear Your Soul: The Science and Spirit of Forest Bathing | Jenny Harrow-Keeler

What are the benefits of forest bathing, and can slowing down in nature really regulate your nervous system, reduce stress, and help you reconnect with yourself? In this episode of Live Your Jam, Ellen McGinnis sits down with Jenny Harrow-Keeler, founder of Ecowisdom Wellness and a certified nature and forest therapy guide, to explore the science and spirit of forest bathing, also known as the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku. Jenny’s path into this work began after a near-death scooter accident left her with significant physical injuries and an entirely different inner landscape. While recovering, she found herself instinctively returning to the forest. Unable to take the fast, demanding hikes she once enjoyed, Jenny was forced to move slowly. In that stillness, the answers she had been searching for began to emerge. That personal experience eventually led her to study integrative health, ecotherapy, ecopsychology, and the growing research behind forest bathing benefits. Today, Jenny guides others through sensory experiences in nature that shift the body from stress and vigilance into rest, restoration, and deeper connection. Jenny explains that forest bathing is not about exercise, reaching a destination, or accomplishing another task. It is the practice of becoming fully present through sight, sound, touch, smell, curiosity, and wonder. By moving at nature’s pace, we create room for our thoughts to quiet and our inner wisdom to rise. Ellen and Jenny also explore the research behind nature and nervous system regulation, including how compounds released by trees may support cortisol reduction, blood pressure, and immune function. They discuss why awe changes our state of being, how the cycles of nature challenge our culture’s obsession with constant productivity, and why periods of rest are essential to healing and growth. This conversation is an invitation to step away from the noise, notice the living world around you, and remember that you are not separate from nature. You are part of it. You will learn: What forest bathing is and how shinrin-yoku worksThe difference between forest bathing and hiking for exerciseHow nature supports nervous system regulation and stress reductionWhat phytoncides are and how the body may respond to themWhy slowing down can feel uncomfortable in a productivity-driven cultureHow sensory awareness brings the body into the present momentWhy awe and wonder can shift your emotional and physical stateHow nature can help you access clarity, intuition, and inner wisdomWhat seasonal cycles teach us about rest, burnout, and sustainable growthHow forest bathing can create space for grief and emotional releaseWhy forests can remind us that we are supported and never truly aloneSimple forest bathing practices you can use anywhere, including in a city 👉 Watch the full conversation and subscribe for more stories about intuition, purpose, and living your jam. 024: How Mediumship Works and What Spirit Wants Us to Know | Linda Rauch

What happens during a mediumship reading, and how can you tell whether the person delivering the message is genuine? In this episode of Live Your Jam, Ellen McGinnis sits down with psychic medium, initiated Wiccan priestess, tarot teacher, healer, and bestselling author Linda Rauch to explore how mediumship works and what four decades of studying the unseen have taught her about life, death, grief, and the soul. Linda began seeing spirits as a young child in 1960s England, long before she had the language to understand her experiences. As a teenager, those encounters developed into precognitive dreams. Her search for answers eventually led her through mediumship, tarot, Wicca, counseling, homeopathy, energy work, and years supporting people facing terminal illness. Linda explains what she sees, hears, and feels when communicating with spirit, including the physical confirmation she calls a “spirit shower.” She also shares why evidence is only the beginning of a meaningful reading. The deeper purpose is healing, helping people receive the message they may not yet be able to see for themselves. Together, Ellen and Linda explore how grief can become an invitation to grow, why authentic spirit communication should always feel rooted in unconditional love, and how mediumship may challenge our understanding of consciousness and what happens after death. You will learn: How mediumship works from the medium’s perspectiveWhat psychic mediums see, hear, and physically experienceHow childhood spirit encounters can develop into mediumistic abilitiesWhy grief can make communication with the spirit world feel especially meaningfulHow to recognize an ethical, authentic mediumWhy evidence supports a reading, but the message creates healingHow tarot’s Major Arcana reflects the soul’s journeyWhy spiritual awareness does not remove the messy parts of being humanWhat mediumship can teach us about accountability, purpose, and living a soul-led life 👉 Watch the full conversation and subscribe for more stories about intuition, purpose, and living your jam. 023: How to Raise Confident Teens Without Pressure or Perfectionism | Dr. Carla Caturia

Why are so many successful teenagers anxious, overwhelmed, and disconnected from themselves? In this episode of Live Your Jam, Ellen McGinnis sits down with educator, coach, and House of Rise founder Dr. Carla Caturia to unpack the growing teen motivation crisis affecting high-achieving students and their families. Together they explore why good grades, packed schedules, and impressive resumes don't always translate into confidence, resilience, or genuine fulfillment. Drawing from more than 20 years working with over 10,000 teens and families, Dr. Carla explains why many young people are trapped in what she calls the "success without self" cycle, where external achievement replaces internal trust. The conversation explores how parents can encourage motivation without creating pressure, why praising effort matters more than praising intelligence, how family dynamics shape teen confidence, and why helping young people discover purpose is more valuable than pushing them toward someone else's definition of success. You will learn: Why high-achieving teens often struggle despite looking successfulThe hidden signs of perfectionism, anxiety, and people pleasingHow to build intrinsic motivation instead of relying on external validationWhy praising effort creates more confident and resilient teensHow family dynamics influence confidence and emotional wellbeingPractical ways to help teens manage negative self-talk and build self-trustWhy college isn't the only path to success, and how to have better conversations about the futureQuestions every parent can ask to help their teen discover purpose and direction 👉 Watch the full conversation and subscribe for more stories about intuition, purpose, and living your jam. 020: What Happens When We Die? The Evidence Is Hard to Ignore | Johnny Burke

What really happens when we die? And is there actual evidence for life after death, or is it just wishful thinking? In this episode of Live Your Jam, Ellen McGinnis sits down with Johnny Burke, host of the Closer to Venus podcast, who has spent six years and close to 250 episodes interviewing the people who would know. Near-death experiencers. Evidential mediums. Hospice workers who sit with the dying. Past life researchers. What he keeps finding points to one quiet, consistent answer. We are eternal souls, and consciousness does not end when the body does. This isn't a conversation about belief. It's about patterns. The same accounts, told by strangers across cultures, who describe the same light, the same love, the same overwhelming sense of coming home. Johnny and Ellen explore the evidence behind near-death experiences, what hospice mediums witness in a person's final days, the idea that we choose our lives before we arrive, and why so many accounts suggest consciousness lives outside the brain. They also go to the stranger edges. Soul contracts. Life between lives. Galactic past lives. And what it might mean to raise your vibration in a world that only trusts what it can measure. If you have ever sensed there is more, but wanted something to stand on besides faith, this conversation will give you a place to start. You will learn: Why nearly every guest, across every tradition, agrees we are eternal soulsWhat the evidence for near-death experiences actually showsWhat hospice mediums witness in a person's final days, and what the "welcoming party" meansWhy so many accounts suggest consciousness is not produced by the brainThe idea of soul contracts, and whether we choose our lives before we are bornWhat "life between lives" is, and why it keeps surfacing under hypnosisHow to tell an evidential medium from the restWhat past life and galactic memories hint about who we used to beSimple daily ways to raise your vibrationHow to hold all of this with a curious, open, slightly skeptical mind 👉 Watch the full conversation and subscribe for more stories about intuition, purpose, and living your jam. 018: Healing the Stories That Keep Men Stuck with Dr. Don Zaksek

What if the thing keeping you stuck… isn’t weakness, lack of discipline, or even trauma itself, but the story you’ve built to survive it? In this episode of Live Your Jam, Ellen McGinnis sits down with psychologist, former Air Force captain, and trauma specialist Dr. Don Zaksek to unpack the silent reality many men are living through, high-functioning on the outside, quietly unraveling on the inside. From combat veterans to elite performers, Dr. Don has spent decades working with individuals trained to endure, push through, and never break. But beneath that strength often lives isolation, shame, and a relentless inner narrative that keeps them stuck. This conversation goes beyond surface-level mental health advice. It explores identity, purpose, emotional suppression, and what it really takes to heal when your default has always been survival.
