The Voice of Nooit

The Illegal Gathering was a rock and roll band that existed for six weeks over four decades ago. The members of the band were the legendary James Phillips, David Ledbetter - a jazz legend, Wayne Rath - a legendary escape artist and Carl Raubenheimer - a legend on his own tee shirt. They recorded fifteen songs in a makeshift studio in central Cape Town, South Africa onto a Portastudio cassette tape recorder. Those songs have now been remastered and this is the story of those fifteen songs and the people who made them.
