The Rookie Christian is a real, honest podcast for anyone who’s new to walking with Jesus—or feels like they’re still figuring it all out. After surrendering my life to Christ three years ago, I started seeing everything differently—my marriage, my past, my purpose. I’m not a pastor or a theologian. I’m just a regular guy learning how to follow Jesus one step at a time.

What Does the Bible Say About Gratitude and a Negative Attitude? Episode #60

Do you find yourself focusing on what’s wrong instead of what’s right? Do you often feel like people are against you, or that no matter what happens, it’s never good enough? In Episode 60 of The Rookie Christian, we’re talking about what the Bible says about gratitude and a negative attitude. It’s easy to focus on our frustrations, compare ourselves to others, and overlook the blessings God has placed in our lives. But Scripture challenges us to examine our hearts, change our perspective, and learn to recognize God’s goodness even in the middle of life’s difficulties. We’ll look at what the Bible teaches in Philippians 2:14, Psalm 103:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, and Philippians 4:8 and discuss the difference between acknowledging real problems and allowing negativity to shape the way we see everything. This isn’t about pretending life is perfect or ignoring genuine struggles. It’s about asking ourselves an honest question: Am I focusing so much on what’s wrong that I’m forgetting what God has given me? Join me as we explore how to develop a heart of gratitude, take responsibility for our attitudes, and grow closer to Jesus one step at a time. If this episode encourages you, follow The Rookie Christian on Spotify and share it with someone who might need this message. Until next time, keep seeking Jesus, keep reading His Word, and keep taking that next step of faith. God bless!

Does the Bible Say We Should Forgive and Forget? Episode #59

Does the Bible Say We Should Forgive and Forget? | Episode 59 Have you ever been told to forgive someone and just forget what they did? But what happens when that person hurts you again? Does forgiving someone mean you have to trust them or let them back into your life? In Episode 59 of The Rookie Christian, we turn to God’s Word to understand what biblical forgiveness really means, and why forgiveness doesn’t mean ignoring harmful behavior or pretending the hurt never happened. In this episode, we’ll explore: What Jesus teaches us about forgiving othersThe difference between forgiveness, trust, and reconciliationHow to respond when someone genuinely repents and wants to make things rightWhat to do when someone repeatedly hurts you or refuses to changeWhy setting healthy boundaries doesn’t necessarily mean you’re being unforgivingHow to let go of bitterness and leave justice in God’s handsScripture reminds us that we are called to forgive because Christ has forgiven us. But forgiveness doesn’t require us to be naïve, ignore patterns of harmful behavior, or give someone unlimited access to our lives. Forgive the person. Learn from the experience. Use wisdom. Set boundaries when necessary. And leave justice in God’s hands. Join me as we look at what the Bible says about forgiveness and how we can respond to those who hurt us in a way that honors Jesus. When Does Jesus Want You to Talk About Him? Episode #54

In Episode 54 of The Rookie Christian, we explore what it means to recognize the opportunities God places in front of us to speak about Christ. This episode was inspired by something a family member told me after listening to Episode 53: “This came at the right time.” That statement made me think about how we never really know what someone is going through or how something as simple as a conversation, a text message, a Bible verse, or an offer to pray might impact someone’s life. Jesus commanded His followers to go and make disciples, but that doesn’t mean every conversation has to become a sermon. We’re called to be wise, gracious, and ready when opportunities present themselves. In this episode, we look at: • Being sensitive to opportunities to talk about Jesus
• Asking the Holy Spirit for wisdom and courage
• Knowing when to speak and when to listen
• Sharing our faith with grace rather than forcing conversations
• Understanding that we may never know the impact our words have on someone 1 Peter 3:15 (NKJV) reminds us to always be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in us. You never know what someone is going through, and you never know when simply mentioning the name of Jesus might be exactly what someone needed to hear.
