How to Make More Margin in Your Day

What if the peace you’ve been longing for isn’t found in doing more, but in creating space for what matters most? In this episode of the The Rooted Woman podcast, Courtney dives into the concept of margin—the space between your load and your limits—and why it’s so essential to living a peaceful, intentional, and God-centered life. From the constant hurry of everyday life to the pressure to say yes to every request and the distraction of screen time, Courtney unpacks the things that quietly steal our margin and leave us feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and disconnected from the Lord. Through biblical principles and the example of Jesus, we’re reminded that rest isn’t selfish, boundaries are necessary, and trusting God with our time means we don’t have to fill every moment. Courtney shares practical ways to begin creating margin in your everyday life, including setting aside time for prayer before the day begins, building buffers between commitments, learning to say no to what isn’t essential, establishing phone-free spaces, and protecting a weekly rhythm of rest. Just as God instructed His people to leave the edges of their fields for others, we can learn to leave space at the edges of our days for God to meet us there. If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, constantly rushed, or like there’s never enough time to breathe, this episode is your invitation to slow down, release the pressure to do it all, and make room for what God is inviting you into. Your challenge this week is simple: choose one practice that creates more margin and commit to it for seven days. You don’t have to overhaul your entire life overnight. Start small, trust the Lord, and discover what it looks like to live from a place of peace rather than pressure. Rest is NOT Laziness: God Never Asked You to Earn Rest

What if rest isn’t something you have to earn? So many of us have learned to treat exhaustion like a badge of honor. We tell ourselves we’ll slow down when the house is clean, the work is finished, the kids need less, or we finally get caught up. But the problem is… there will always be something else to do. In this episode, Courtney unpacks the biblical truth that rest is not laziness—it’s part of God’s design. Starting in Genesis 2, we look at the rhythm God modeled from the very beginning: work, finish, stop, and rest. Not because work is bad or ambition is wrong, but because our productivity was never meant to determine our worth. We’re talking about what happens when busyness becomes part of our identity, why different seasons require different levels of capacity, how comparison keeps us striving, and why learning to stop can actually become an act of trust and obedience to God. Courtney also shares her own journey from constantly chasing the next task to intentionally creating margin in her days—and the freedom that came when she stopped believing everything depended on her. In this episode, you’ll be challenged to ask: Where do I feel like I cannot stop? What am I trying to prove by constantly pushing through? And what would it look like to treat rest as obedience instead of a reward? You don't have to abandon your goals, your calling, or the things God has placed in front of you. You may simply need enough margin to faithfully carry them without running yourself into the ground. Because you are not more valuable when you accomplish more. You are already His daughter. And you are allowed to rest.

Prayer is NOT Magic: How to Use Prayer as a Weapon

What do you pray when you don’t even have the words? When fear is loud, life feels uncertain, or you’re carrying something you don’t know how to surrender, prayer can feel harder than it should. But you don’t have to come up with the perfect words, God has already given you words to pray through Scripture. In this episode of The Rooted Woman Podcast, Courtney is talking about prayer as a weapon and walking through Psalm 91 as a practical example of how to turn Scripture into personal prayer. We’re talking about what it really means to pray Scripture, why prayer isn’t a formula for controlling our circumstances, how Psalm 91 points us toward God as our refuge in the middle of uncertainty, and what it looks like to pray when fear, shame, anxiety, or overwhelm are trying to take over. Courtney also breaks down how to move from simply reading Scripture → understanding its truth → praying that truth back to God, and how the Holy Spirit helps us pray when we don’t know what to say. And at the end of the episode, we’ll pray Psalm 91 together, over your mind, your home, your family, your decisions, your fears, and whatever you may be carrying right now. Your challenge this week: Choose one passage of Scripture and pray through it every single day. Let God’s Word give you language when you don’t have the words yourself. Prayer is not your last resort. You have access to the Father. You have the Word of God. And you can come back to His truth again and again. Scriptures mentioned: Psalm 91 Ephesians 6:10–18 Romans 8:26 1 Corinthians 14:15 Jude 20 If this episode encouraged you, send it to a woman who may need help finding the words to pray this week. Let’s continue becoming women who are deeply rooted in Scripture, dependent on God, and willing to bring every battle before Him.

Ministry is NOT What You Think It Is

What if the ministry God has given you is already happening right in front of you? We can easily associate ministry with the visible things: a microphone, a Bible study, a leadership position, a social media platform, a mission trip, or a title. But what if some of the most important ministry you will ever do happens around your kitchen table, in the middle of motherhood, in your marriage, during an ordinary conversation, or when no one else is watching? In this episode of The Rooted Woman Podcast, Courtney is challenging us to rethink what ministry actually looks like—and to ask whether we're so focused on the next big thing God might call us to that we're missing the people He's already placed in front of us. We're talking about: • Why your home isn't the waiting room for your calling, it's part of the training ground • Treating motherhood as discipleship instead of simply managing another day • What it looks like to bring the same intentionality home that we bring into church and ministry spaces • Finding ministry opportunities in incredibly ordinary moments • Why impact and visibility are not the same thing • Being faithful when nobody is watching • Making sure our public ministry and private lives tell the same story • Learning to recognize the people God has already entrusted to us The Kingdom of God does not operate according to an algorithm. Some of the most significant things you ever do for the Kingdom may never be posted, applauded, or even known by another person. Your ministry begins wherever God has placed you. So instead of asking, “When will God give me my opportunity?” maybe the better question is: “Lord, where have You already called me to be faithful?” MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE🤎 Join The Rooted Woman Community on Facebook HERE 🌿 The Road to Rooted: 6-Week Mentorship Cohort The waitlist is officially OPEN!
