EP. 45: Love Is Not a Feeling... Here's What Actually Makes Relationships Last

I find it very easy for couples to fall back in love with each other, because after years of relationship coaching, I know what love actually is. Love isn't something you simply feel; it’s something you choose, build, and practice every day. Love is an action, and I know exactly which actions you should take to fall back in love with your partner.  In this episode of Life & Love by Design, I’m taking my expertise as a relationship coach and sharing why lasting love isn't built on a feeling. You'll discover the daily choices, relationship skills, and habits that create emotional intimacy, trust, and long-term connection.  Whether you're dating, engaged, married, or hoping to improve your relationship, these insights will help you create a stronger, healthier partnership. EP. 44: 7 Things Grown Men Do That Make Their Wives Feel Like Their Mothers

If your wife feels more like your mother than your partner, your marriage may be stuck in a parent-child dynamic, and it's slowly eroding intimacy, attraction, and connection. In this episode of Life & Love by Design, I share 7 common behaviors grown men do that unintentionally make their wives feel like their mothers. From emotional labor and mental load to responsibility, communication, and accountability, we'll explore why this dynamic develops and, more importantly, how to change it. Whether you're a husband who wants to become a better partner or a wife who's exhausted from carrying the weight of the relationship, this episode will help you create a healthier, more equal partnership. EP. 43: My Boyfriend Gave Me an Ultimatum Before He'll Propose... Is This Love or Control?

"I'll marry you... but first you need to lose weight, work on yourself, and learn about money." What would you do if your long-term partner gave you this ultimatum? It’s jarring, but it’s not as flashy or absurd as some of the ultimatums I've heard before, so it made me pause.  As a relationship coach, I can see that he’s trying to communicate some very real fears of his, even though he’s not saying it in the best way. Which is why one half of the internet thinks the boyfriend is a control freak and that she should dump him. The other half believes that he’s right and that she needs to get her act together before getting married. But I don’t think the situation is as black or white as the internet is making it out to be. In this episode of Life & Love by Design, I'm breaking down a viral Reddit story about a boyfriend who gave his girlfriend an ultimatum before proposing, and the internet is completely divided. Is this loving accountability or emotional manipulation? We'll explore the difference between encouraging growth and creating conditions for love, why emotional safety matters more than perfection, and the question every couple should ask before saying "I do." If you're dating, engaged, or wondering whether your relationship is built on healthy love, this conversation is for you. EP. 42: Boundaries in Relationships: Why Saying No Feels So Hard

Boundaries are one of the most important and most misunderstood parts of healthy relationships. Have you ever struggled to say no, felt guilty setting limits, or found yourself feeling resentful because you keep putting everyone else first? In this episode of Life & Love by Design, I’m breaking down what boundaries really are, why so many of us struggle to create them, and how setting healthy boundaries can actually strengthen your relationships - not push people away. Boundaries are there to support your relationships, not damage them! But, like anything else, how you communicate your boundaries is just as important as the boundaries themselves. And, in my experience, setting a healthy boundary could be the best thing you ever do for your relationships. In this week’s episode, we’ll talk about the difference between a boundary and a wall, why unspoken expectations create resentment, and the steps you can take to communicate your needs with more confidence and clarity. If you’ve ever felt stuck, disconnected from yourself, or unsure how to create healthier patterns in your relationships, this conversation is for you. EP. 41: Why Good People Make Bad Decisions (It's Not What You Think) with Tom Hardin (Tipper X)

How do good people end up making life-changing mistakes? Tom Hardin made a handful of bad decisions, which led to the FBI approaching him on the street. He was caught insider trading on Wall Street, and the FBI demanded that he become an informant for them and turn against his colleagues. I read his book, which is full of insightful information about relationships, his marriage, and how he built his life back up from public disgrace.  Tom Hardin, formerly known as “Tipper X,” is the author of the national bestseller Wired on Wall Street: The Rise and Fall of Tipper X. A former hedge fund analyst, Hardin became one of the FBI’s most prolific cooperating witnesses in its historic insider trading investigation, Operation Perfect Hedge. Today, he speaks globally to corporate and university audiences on ethics, decision-making, conduct risk, and the pressures that lead good people into bad decisions. In this episode of Life & Love by Design, I sit down with Tom Hardin (Tipper X) for a powerful conversation about difficult decisions, trust, loyalty, shame, forgiveness, marriage, and redemption. This isn't a conversation about Wall Street. It's about being human. We explore why good people sometimes make bad decisions, how those choices impact the people we love, and what it takes to move forward with integrity. If you've ever struggled with guilt, faced a difficult decision, experienced betrayal, or wondered whether trust can truly be rebuilt, this episode is for you. EP. 40: 8 Conversations Every Couple MUST Have Before Getting Married

Getting married is a wonderful time in your life. It’s also the busiest time of your life, with maybe the highest stakes you’ll ever encounter. Because everyone hopes that they’ll only be married once, so they want everything leading up to the wedding to go smoothly.  There’s the wedding, the paperwork, the blending of the families, but what about you? Is your relationship ready for marriage? Are you guys, two people who love each other very much, prepared for the rest of your lives? In my experience, many couples are not. So let’s fix that. In this week’s episode, we’re talking about the 8 conversations every couple MUST have before getting married. Love is not enough to keep a marriage together. Most relationships don’t fall apart because of a lack of love, but because of a lack of deep understanding.  So let’s set your marriage up for success by identifying what conversations you must have with your future spouse and why.  How to work with Odette: Book a free consultation call for the Next Level Woman: Life & Love by Design Experience here! EP. 39: “He Says I Changed After Kids… I Think He Misses His ‘Barbie Doll’ Version of Me”

I was shocked when I read the title of this Reddit story! My daughter brought it to my attention, and I knew I had to make a podcast episode about it. Not just because I’m a relationship coach, but because I’ve lived through this before, too.  I’ve had the “you changed” conversation before. And the more I work with couples, the more I see this conversation come up. And honestly, it’s normal! Because we are all changing all the time. So how do we work through this period of change without resenting each other?  In this week’s episode, we’re talking about the Reddit story, “He Says I Changed After Kids… I Think He Misses His ‘Barbie Doll’ Version of Me.” First of all, you can tell the author of this post is hurting. But I don’t entirely think it’s her husband's fault. Actually, I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault. Tune in to this week’s episode to hear my thoughts on this shocking Reddit story and what solutions I have for this couple during this season of change.  How to work with Odette: Book a free consultation call for the Next Level Woman: Life & Love by Design Experience here!
