24 - An Honest Chat About the State of Motherhood in 2026

Send us Fan Mail What does motherhood really look like in 2026? Not the highlight reel version — the real, raw, beautiful, exhausting truths. In this episode, we're having an honest conversation about the state of modern motherhood: the invisible mental load that never shuts off, the impossible standards we hold ourselves to, the maternal mental health crisis quietly unfolding around us, and also the powerful shift happening among mothers who are done doing it all on empty. We hear input from real moms who share what motherhood actually feels like from the inside out. And we dig into some eye-opening statistics and truths.  But this episode isn't just about the hard stuff. It's about the resilience, the community, and the growing movement of mothers who are rewriting the rules — for themselves, their work, and their families. If you've ever felt like you were quietly carrying more than you let on, this one is for you. In this episode, we cover: The gap between what we imagined motherhood would look like and what it actually isThe mental load, the expectations, the judgment, the default parentingMaternal mental health statistics that every mother needs to hearWhat moms are craving most right nowThe powerful shift happening among mothers and how you can be part of itHere are a few snapshots of what other mamas had to say about what motherhood feels like right now:  Thank you to Jessica, Jackie, Ashleigh, Meaghan, and Laural of Shade Tree Embodied Wellness for chiming in with your thoughts on motherhood! Meaghan, mom of 3 and business owner: “Being a parent in today's world is hard. Plain and simple. Being a mom of 2 overly opinionated, emotional, sweet, intelligent daughters and a sweet, intelligent always over-stimulated special needs son is harder. So why not throw in my own small business?! I'm touched out constantly, I love quiet and my world is never that. You know what I do for a living? I make women feel beautiful. In order to do that, I have to touch their face. I'm an empath and I pick up on energies from every single one of my clients. So many personalities. So many feelings. So. Much. Exhaustion. My 2 minute drive home is my quiet reset. I go home to an extremely loud house. But this extremely loud house is full of love, full of laughs, full of my family. Honestly, I did this to myself but you know what? I wouldn't change it for the world. I love my life. It's hard, it's messy, Are you an ambitious mom looking to start or grow your business in a way that feels aligned? 17 - How Backup Plans are Blocking Your Business Growth

Send us Fan Mail What if your backup plans aren’t actually about being “responsible”… but about not fully trusting yourself yet? In today’s episode, I’m unpacking a quote that’s been sitting with me lately — from none other than Elle Woods:  “I don’t need backups. I’m going to Harvard.” At first, it’s funny. But when you really sit with it, it opens up a powerful conversation about self-trust, nervous system safety, and the hidden ways ambitious mom business owners build escape hatches instead of committing fully to what they want. We’re talking about: Why backup plans often come from anxiety — not logicHow self-doubt can show up as over-planning, pivoting too quickly, or second-guessingThe very real financial and relational pressures that make trusting yourself feel unsafeHow “responsible” choices can quietly pull you away from alignmentAnd what it actually looks like to shift into Elle Woods energy — grounded, regulated, and committedThis episode is an invitation to unclench, slow down, and have an honest safety conversation with yourself about how you're showing up for yourself as a business owner. Not about hustling harder — but about redirecting your energy towards the version of you who knows she can sustain the success she wants. If you’ve been distracting, preparing backup plans, or wondering why you can’t fully commit to your main vision yet, this one’s for you. And...here are some of the reflection questions I toss at you inside of the episode so that you can reference them for your own contemplation and journaling: Step 1 - Reconnecting to the vision of who you're becoming: How do you feel in your body when this is normal for you? Where do you feel grounded? Where do you feel expanded? What are the physical sensations that come up for you? Step 2 - Notice the triggers:  What external triggers tend to kick up self-doubt for me? How can you begin to lessen the impact of those triggers? Step 3 -  Investigate why those triggers exist and if they're the ultimate truth: What feels scary about actually having the thing I want? Is it visibility? Outgrowing old versions of myself? Being the one others look to? Letting it be easier than I was taught it should be? Are these real, present-moment fears or imagined future ones? Step 4 - Be honest about your backups: How much of your time and energy is currently going toward backup plans? Side paths? Things that feel productive but aren’t actually al Are you an ambitious mom looking to start or grow your business in a way that feels aligned?
