    How A Reverse Sting Turned Fake Cocaine Into 16 Years In Prison

    How can an ATF reverse sting involving fake cocaine send someone to federal prison for 16 years?Nick Martinez, also known as Nick Montana 305, joins the 10 Toes Podcast to reveal how a reverse stash-house sting in Miami led to a federal drug conspiracy conviction—even though the cocaine and stash house never existed.According to Nick, an undercover ATF agent posed as a successful Miami drug trafficker and used a prison connection to recruit men for a robbery. The agent claimed that a stash house contained between 20 and 30 kilos of cocaine and offered to provide the location, timing and inside information needed to steal it.Nick met the undercover agent once. When he later arrived at a shopping center to follow the agent to the supposed stash house, federal agents surrounded the group. The planned robbery never happened and no cocaine was recovered, but two firearms found inside the vehicle became part of the federal case.Nick explains how federal conspiracy laws allowed prosecutors to pursue the case without an actual stash house, drugs or completed robbery. After accepting what he understood to be a 15-year plea agreement, sentencing enhancements increased his punishment to 295 months—nearly 25 years in federal prison.An appeal eventually removed 100 months from Nick’s sentence, reducing it to 195 months.     Why can a fight over the TV start a race war in prison? Freddy D shares raw prison stories about racial tension, inmate respect, prison fights, and the unwritten rules that control life behind bars. During his first extended stay in county jail at only 18 years old, Freddy witnessed how quickly prison politics could turn an ordinary disagreement into violence.     I Was A Latin King And A Blood: My Life Of Gangs And Prison

    Rob—known as King Kiko in New Jersey and Cuban Rob in Florida—joins Jason for a brutally honest conversation about gang life, drug dealing, addiction, violence, betrayal, and the prison economy. After losing his father to suicide at 14 and being forced out of his home as a teenager, Rob went looking for the family and protection he was missing. That search led him into the Latin Kings, where his first major mission ended with several members abandoning him during a fight and leaving his child’s mother to bail him out of jail. After moving to Florida, Rob became involved with the Bloods, built a cocaine and crack operation, and began establishing his reputation in Palm Coast. He recounts deliberately fronting two pounds of marijuana to a man he expected would refuse to pay—giving Rob the confrontation he wanted—and what happened when he confronted and shot him. Rob also breaks down the investigation that eventually developed into a Florida RICO case after a home invasion ended in death, a member of the group began cooperating, and the U.S. Marshals captured him in New Jersey. Inside Florida State Prison, Rob says he turned the same instincts he used in the streets toward controlling the prison economy. He describes running cigarettes, gambling, loan sharking and contraband, recruiting correctional officers into his operation, and being transferred from compound to compound because prison officials believed he could organize and take control of a yard within a year.
