The Story Beneath: Atlantis

Was the lost city of Atlantis swallowed by the sea? Could Atlantis be the true source of all civilization? From Plato’s ancient writings to SpongeBob SquarePants, almost everyone is familiar with the legend of Atlantis. CH.13’s THE STORY BENEATH ATLANTIS explores the origins of this story, revealing how a tale first told by Plato has been reshaped, reimagined, and misused for centuries. For some, Atlantis was proof of a linage lost. For others, it was a cautionary tale about arrogance, empire, and collapse. The true story of Atlantis connects myth, science, and conspiracy theories into a grand narrative. This video uncovers how the myth of Atlantis influenced explorers, writers and even entire nations. Ignatius Donnelly turned Atlantis into an American obsession. Nationalists claimed their homeland was the true location of the lost city. An Axis Power twisted the story into a tool for their ideology. The lost city of Atlantis has shaped the modern world in more ways than you know. Join us as we uncover what lies beneath Atlantis.
