    When Compassion Moves Us | Becoming a Jesus Church: Week 3

    What does it mean to have compassion like Jesus, and how should God’s compassion change the way we respond to people in need? In this sermon from our Becoming a Jesus Church series, Pastor Dan explores the compassion of God and what it means for followers of Jesus to become compassionate people. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus doesn’t simply notice people who are hurting, helpless, or broken—He is moved toward them. Biblical compassion is more than sympathy or feeling sorry for someone. Compassion sees the spiritual and physical needs of people and moves toward them to help carry their burden. Jesus looked at the crowds and saw people who were “harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd,” and His compassion moved Him to act. That same compassion is at the heart of who God is. God describes Himself as compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love. Rather than holding our weakness against us, our Heavenly Father sees our limitations and moves toward us with grace, forgiveness, love, and help.     What does it really mean to become a Jesus Church? In Matthew 16:13–21, Jesus makes a powerful promise: “I will build my church.” The church isn’t ultimately built by programs, buildings, leaders, or human effort. Jesus is the builder, Jesus is the foundation, and Jesus is the one transforming His people to become more like Him.     Can You Trust God With What Matters Most? (Genesis) | Legacy of Faith: Week 3

    What does it look like to trust God when He asks you to surrender what matters most? In Genesis 22, Abraham faces the greatest test of his faith when God asks him to place Isaac—the son connected to every promise God had given him—on the altar. Through Abraham’s story, we see what a life of faith ultimately requires: surrendering our fear, our need for control, our own strategies, and even the future we imagined.     How does God see you when you’ve failed? Abraham is remembered as a man of incredible faith, but his life was also filled with fear, doubt, mistakes, and moments when he tried to take God’s plan into his own hands. Yet Scripture says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” In this message, we look at Genesis 15–16 and Romans 4 to discover what Abraham’s story teaches us about faith, grace, justification, and the righteousness of Christ.
