In the book of Hebrews, the author reveals how Jesus fulfilled the ultimate sin sacrifice - that offered on behalf of the priest, and then the nation, on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). This "New and Living Way" found in the New Covenant, and established by Jesus the Messiah, is declared to a primarily Jewish audience who are struggling with the trappings of the Old Covenant and false rabbinic teachingss. This is a series of expository messages studying the book of Hebrews which were presented at Family Bible Church, Martinez GA during the fall of 2025.

    27 Hebrews 13:8-25 (Final Exhortations, Pt 2)

    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Mar15.pdf * Six months ago, we began this trip through the book of Hebrews. * We have seen that Jesus is not just an angel, nor is just a prophet - rather, He is God the Son who took on flesh in order that He might be the perfect propitiatory sacrifice for our sins. While in the flesh, He was tempted and tried in every way such as we are, yet without sin! * We, therefore, are called to look to Him - the Author and Finisher of our faith - while we run this race of life. * Last week, we began to consider this final section of exhortations from the author of the letter to his readers. The first half of these final exhortations were those which focused upon our relationship with God. We were warned to not be "carried about with various and strange doctrines" but to have our heart stabilized by grace. We were challenged to willingly suffer with Christ in the reproaches which the world brings against Him and those who follow Him.     26 Hebrews 13:8-25 (Final Exhortations, Pt 1)

    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Mar08.pdf * Approximately one month ago, we began considering the Pursuit and Practice of our Lives as a result of the Perfect Propitiatory Sacrifice of Christ on our behalf. We should be committed to running the race which has been set before us and to pursue our conformance to the image of Christ - both in thought and deed. In doing so, we must keep Christ as the focus of our faith. * During the last two weeks, we saw that we have been freed from a bondage to works in order to merit salvation; through Christ, the just shall live by faith. That faith is grounded in the grace of God. God, by His grace, has afforded us this privilege of knowing Him and serving Him through faith. As a result we ought to desire to reflect the holiness and love of God in our lives in our actions. However, we were reminded that though God extends His grace, He is still a "consuming fire." Jesus Christ - God incarnate - is the same yesterday, today and forever! * Today, we come to the final portion of the letter to the Hebrews. In this portion, which we will take two weeks to cover, we see a listing of final exhortations.     25 Hebrews 12:18-13:8 (A Kingdom of Grace, Pt 2)

    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Mar01.pdf * Last week we began to consider this section of the book of Hebrews by considering Paul's analogy of Hagar (Mt. Sinai) and Sarah (Mt. Zion) in Galatians 4, representing the contrast of trusting in our works of the Law for salvation and having faith in the grace of God. We then considered the description of these two mountains from the perspective of the author of Hebrews. Concerning the giving of the Law at Mt. Sinai, the author revealed how the Hebrews did not want God to speak to them. So, he challenged his present listeners to not be like them and to not refuse Him who speaks! * We, as New Testament saints, ought to have grace since we are recipients of the Kingdom of Grace and ought to be, therefore, representatives of that Kingdom. * Today, we continue this in this portion looking to HOW that grace portrays itself in our lives. Those who enter the Kingdom of God by faith will live as being recipients of this Kingdom recognizing the righteous judgement of the King and seek to fulfill the calls to Love and Holiness issued by the King. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on March 1, 2026 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

    24 Hebrews 12:18-13:8 (A Kingdom of Grace)

After considering the superiority of Jesus Christ and the New Covenant which He established, we have been examining the results of entering into this New Covenant. * Over the past couple of weeks we have consider our pursuit of Jesus Christ - the Author and Finisher of our faith! Last week, we saw the need for Team Work in this pursuit and ended with the reminder of our foundation for all of this - the establishment of the New Covenant. * The author of the book uses another analogy to contrast the Old Covenant with the New Covenant. As Paul does in his letter to the Galatians, the author of Hebrews contrasts the two covenants to Mt. Sinai and Mt. Zion (Jerusalem). We will begin by reading Paul's analogy in order to bring another layer to this contrast in Hebrews. These mountains and covenants represent, as well, two kingdoms - a kingdom of works and a kingdom of grace. * As we will see today, though God delivers us by grace through faith, and not by our works, those who enter the Kingdom of God by faith will then live as being recipients of this Kingdom recognizing the righteous judgement of the King and seek to fulfill the calls to Love and Holiness issued by the King. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on February 22, 2026 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

    23 Hebrews 12:1-24 (Our Pursuit - The Need for Teamwork ... Cont.)

    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Feb15.pdf * We have spent the past seven weeks considering examples and applications which are the results of people living their lives by faith in the redemptive plan of YHWH which was completed in the sacrificial death of the Messiah. We have seen that in the face of the adversities of this life "the just shall live by faith." * Over the past two weeks, we have been considering the pursuit of faith which is laid out for us in chapter 12 - to lay aside every weight and "good standing" sin(s) which are hindering us from running the race which has been set before us. In order to accomplish this task, we need to have a proper focus - we must be looking unto Jesus, who is One who began the work in us and will be faithful to complete it. Additionally, this pursuit will require a great deal of discipline, and training, in our lives. That discipline is a two-fold process between our own zeal and the loving intervention of our Heavenly Father. As a loving Father, He trains us to be disciplined when we will not discipline ourselves. * Last week, we began to consider the fourth facet of this pursuit revealed in this chapter, The Need for Teamwork. We do not, nor cannot, live this life of faith as "Lone Rangers." The church is referred to by God as the body of Christ. There are many passages in the Word of God which talk about the importance of the body of Christ ministering to "one another."     22 Hebrews 12:1-24 (Our Pursuit - The Need for Teamwork)

    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Feb08.pdf * In chapter 10, as we transitioned from the doctrinal aspect of the book of Hebrews to the applicational aspect, the writer provided three exhortations to the church which ought to be the initial effect in our lives of the redemptive work of Jesus. We are exhorted to draw near to God with a true heart, to hold fast the confession of our hope, and to consider one another in order to stir up love and good works. * We then transitioned to how these things could, and would, occur in the lives of the saints - "The just shall live by faith." We were then given many examples of normal individuals who lived this life of faith in marvelous ways. * Two weeks ago we began to consider how we too can live this life of faith. * Last week, we began to consider the race which we called to run in pursuit of this goal. As at the beginning of this applicational section, we saw that the focus of our faith - the focus of our journey - the focus of our pursuit - needs to be Jesus, YHWH incarnate! This pursuit will require us to be diligent and disciplined in our lives. Additionally, we saw that God, as our loving heavenly Father, will discipline us when we do not use self-discipline. * Today, we will pick up our discussion of our pursuit in by considering our need for the Father's assistance and that of the rest of our "Family" as we press toward the mark! * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on February 8, 2026 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

    21 Hebrews 12:1-11 Our Pursuit - Looking Unto Jesus

    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Feb01.pdf * In our study of the book of Hebrews, we have transitioned from the primarily doctrinal section - looking to the perfect sacrifice - into the primarily applicational section and considering the results of that perfect sacrifice. * We have spent four weeks considering the "Evidence of Faith" which is ultimately the result of the focus of one's Confidence, or Hope. * Today, we begin to look at how this Faith and Hope affect our "Mindset" regarding our journey through this life. In this chapter, various analogies are woven together to reveal the importance of our desire for, and commitment to, practical sanctification as a result of our positional sanctification. * Because of Christ's perfect sacrifice, our pursuit in life should mirror Paul's declaration in Philippians - that I may know Christ ...     20 Hebrews 11:32-12:2 (By Faith - The Others!)

    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Jan25.pdf * In Isaiah 55:1-11, YHWH calls for everyone who is thirsty to come to "the waters" and to buy wine and bread without needing money. This sustenance, He declares, is His Word. He calls for people to seek Him while He may be found and to call upon Him while He is near. For He is a rewarder of those who seek Him! He will send forth His Word and His Word will not come back void; His Word will "prosper in the things for which I sent it." In Romans 10 we read that "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."* In Hebrews 11 we have been considering the lives of those who have lived according to that faith; of those who have received and trusted in the Word of YHWH.* Today, we will be look at the evidence of that which is "not seen" through a few more "everyday people" ... like you and me ... whose lives were transformed by the power of God! * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on January 25, 2026 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.
