Building one of Britains most influential Carp Farms wasn't the plan. Episode #10 with Viv Shears

Viv Shears was my Fisheries Management tutor at Sparsholt College back in 2010 where it all started for me. So, in many ways, he helped shape the path that led me into the industry I work in today. After missing the grades needed to become a vet, Viv followed a different path into fisheries. One that would see him manage some of the most influential carp fisheries in the UK with CEMEX Angling, lecture the next generation of fishery managers at Sparsholt, and eventually co-found VS Fisheries alongside fellow lecturer Simon Scott. VS Fisheries has since gone on to become one of the most respected carp farms in the country, supplying high-quality fish to fisheries across the UK. It's clear to see why Viv was right at the top of my list when I started the Fishery FastLane Podcast. In this episode we talk about: • Viv’s early ambitions to become a vet • His journey into fisheries management • Managing the famous CEMEX fisheries • Teaching at Sparsholt College • Building VS Fisheries • His thoughts on the future of carp farming and fisheries It was a real privilege to sit down with someone who has contributed so much to our industry and hear the story behind his career.  Fishery Fastlane is the podcast where we strip back the noise and talk honestly about what actually works in modern fishery management. Are you involved in fisheries and want to see healthy progression in your fishery business? That's what I do! FOR FREE... How?! Subscribe to this channel and my other one...
