EP32 - Is God First—or Is He Actually at the Center? - Start at Home Series

You've probably heard Christians describe their priorities this way: God first, family second, church third, work fourth. But does God really belong at the top of a list—or should He be at the center of everything on it? In this episode of the Disciple Blueprint Podcast, we examine what it really means to put God first. Following Christ isn't about giving God a few minutes in the morning before moving on to the rest of our lives. Biblical surrender means allowing Him to shape our families, work, finances, relationships, decisions, politics, priorities, and even our thought lives. God doesn't simply want to become another category in your life. He wants to be Lord of all of it. In this episode: What Jesus meant by seeking God's kingdom first Why separating “spiritual life” from everyday life creates a problem What Colossians 3:17 teaches about following Christ in everything Why surrender becomes most visible when God disagrees with us How to determine what is really at the center of your life A practical five-area “center check” Scripture: Matthew 6:33; Colossians 3:17; Romans 12:1 This episode is part of the Start at Home series, where we're moving from diagnosing what's wrong around us to asking what God wants to change within us. https://www.discipleblueprint.com/startathome Disciple Blueprint provides free resources to help Christians study God's Word, grow spiritually, and put biblical truth into practice. https://www.discipleblueprint.com/freestuff Disciple Blueprint — Helping Christians become fully devoted followers of Christ. EP31 - What Has God Already Put in Front of You? - Start at Home Series

When we think about making a difference for God, it's easy to imagine doing something big—a larger ministry, a bigger audience, an important position, or an opportunity to influence thousands of people. But what if the most important ministry God has given you is already sitting across the dinner table? In this episode of the Disciple Blueprint Podcast, we examine what biblical faithfulness looks like in ordinary life. Rather than waiting for a bigger opportunity, Jesus calls us to be faithful with what God has already placed in our hands. Your family, neighbors, coworkers, friends, and church family aren't interruptions while you wait for your “real” ministry to begin. They may be the very people God is calling you to influence today. In this episode: Why faithfulness begins with what you already have What Jesus meant by being faithful in little Why ordinary relationships are important opportunities for discipleship How Deuteronomy 6 places spiritual formation in everyday family life Why influence shouldn't be measured by audience size A simple exercise for identifying the people God has placed in front of you Scripture: Luke 16:10; Deuteronomy 6; John 6 Explore the complete Start at Home series and discover why lasting cultural change begins with ordinary Christians faithfully serving God in their homes, churches, and communities. https://www.discipleblueprint.com/startathome Find free Bible studies, discipleship resources, and practical tools designed to help you grow in your walk with Christ. https://www.discipleblueprint.com/freestuff Disciple Blueprint — Helping Christians become fully devoted followers of Christ. EP30 - Why You Can't Fix the World from Washington - Start at Home Series

We spend enormous amounts of time arguing about elections, politicians, laws, and what Washington should do to fix the problems facing our country. Government matters, and Scripture gives it a legitimate role—but there are some things government simply cannot do. In this episode of the Disciple Blueprint Podcast, we look at the difference between changing behavior from the outside and the transformation that only Christ can accomplish from the inside. Government can restrain wrongdoing, enforce laws, and maintain order, but it cannot change a greedy heart, heal hatred, create faithfulness, or cause someone to love Christ. If we want to see lasting change in our country, perhaps we need to stop looking first toward Washington and start asking what God wants to change in us and in the people within our own sphere of influence. In this episode: Why good government and good laws still matter What government can—and cannot—change Why cultural problems ultimately lead us back to the human heart How Christians can become distracted by fixing everyone else Why lasting change begins with Christ How to identify the people God has already given you influence over Scripture: Romans 13; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Mark 7:21–23 This episode is part of Start at Home: Why Your Kitchen Table Matters More Than Washington Ever Will, a series exploring God's design for the family, church, and government—and why rebuilding a broken culture begins closer to home. https://www.discipleblueprint.com/startathome Looking for practical resources to help you grow as a follower of Christ? Can one person really make a difference? When we look at the challenges facing our families, churches, and nation, it's easy to become discouraged. Start at Home - EP27 - When Government Leaves Its Lane

What happens when government begins taking on responsibilities God assigned to the family and the church? In this episode, Raymond Smith examines several historical examples that illustrate how institutions can gradually move beyond their original purpose. Looking at the school prayer decisions of the 1960s and the expansion of Great Society programs, you'll discover why understanding God's blueprint for society is just as important today as it has ever been. This episode isn't about criticizing history or questioning motives. It's about learning an important biblical principle: good intentions do not always produce good results. When God's institutions leave the roles He designed for them, unintended consequences often follow.Key Scriptures• Romans 13:1–7 • 1 Timothy 5:8 • James 1:27 • Acts 2:44–47 In This Episode• The difference between God's design and human solutions. • What the Supreme Court's school prayer decisions actually addressed. • How the expansion of government assistance changed the roles of families and churches. • Why good intentions can still produce unintended consequences. • The hope found in returning to God's original blueprint. Start at Home - EP26 -Has Government Left Its God-Given Role?

What role did God actually give government?Christians have strong opinions about government, but many have never stopped to ask what the Bible actually says about its purpose. In this episode, Raymond Smith opens Romans 13 to examine God's design for civil government and explains why understanding its God-given responsibilities changes the way we view politics, public policy, and society.Rather than beginning with political parties or current events, this episode begins with Scripture. Discover the four primary responsibilities God entrusted to government and why understanding those responsibilities provides a biblical framework for evaluating every political issue.Key Scriptures• Romans 13:1–7 • Micah 6:8 • 1 Peter 2:13–17 In This Episode• Why government is part of God's design for society. • The four biblical responsibilities of civil government. • Why authority always comes with God-given boundaries. • How to evaluate government through the lens of Scripture instead of politics. Start at Home - EP25 - When The Church is Silent

Every day, someone is teaching us how to think. The question is: Who is shaping your worldview? In this episode, Raymond Smith explores one of the greatest challenges facing the modern church. When churches avoid addressing the biblical issues people face every day, Christians often turn to social media, the news, podcasts, and popular culture for answers. Unfortunately, those voices don't always begin with God's Word. This episode isn't about becoming political. It's about becoming biblical. Scripture speaks to every area of life, and faithful churches should lovingly teach what God says—even when the culture disagrees. Discover why silence is never neutral and why discipleship matters now more than ever.Key Scriptures• Matthew 28:19–20 • 2 Timothy 3:16–17 • Acts 20:27 In This Episode• Why someone is always shaping your worldview. • The danger of allowing culture to disciple Christians. • Why churches should faithfully teach all of God's Word. • How to evaluate whether your thinking is being shaped by Scripture or culture.
