Single & Set Apart: More Than Just Finding a Spouse

What if God isn't asking you to stop desiring marriage, but to let Him reshape what you think marriage should look like? In this episode of For Such a Time As This, I sit down with my friend Natalie, who got married in her late 20s, a little later than expected for many of us living in the Christian bubble. Natalie shares what it looked like to spend intentional time with the Lord during her years of singleness and how that season became about so much more than simply waiting for a husband. She talks about growing as an individual, learning who she was in Christ, and allowing God to work on her heart before marriage. We also dive into the expectations and preferences she had for a future husband, including her ideas about male leadership, and how God challenged her to realize that leadership doesn't always look the way we expect it to. We talk about the “hole” we all feel in our hearts and how ultimately, that hole is not spouse-sized, it is God-sized. Marriage can be a beautiful gift, but it was never meant to take the place of our relationship with the Lord. This conversation is about singleness, surrender, personal growth, expectations, and allowing God to shape us into the people He created us to be before we ever find the person we're going to spend our lives with. If you're single and wondering what God might be doing in your season, I hope this episode reminds you that there is so much purpose in becoming before you ever get to the altar. 🎙️ For Such a Time As This — Season 2: Single & Set Apart

Single & Set Apart: From Singleness to Suddenly

What happens when God asks you to surrender your timeline, your plans, and your desire for control? In this episode of For Such a Time As This, we sit down with Austin and Jessica to hear the story of how God brought them together after seasons of singleness, growth, and preparation. This is our first episode featuring a married couple, and we dive into what it looked like for them to navigate singleness before marriage, trust God’s timing, and allow Him to work in their hearts before bringing them together. Austin shares about learning to let go of control, finding contentment in the season God had him in, and allowing God to peel away things in his life that were keeping him from becoming the man he was called to be. We talk about how sometimes God places roadblocks in our path, not to punish us, but because He knows we aren't ready for what we're asking for yet. Jessica and Austin also share the unexpected way their relationship began, including how Jessica was dating someone else when they first met, the encouragement from a friend that she would meet her husband on that trip, and how God’s timing unfolded in a way neither of them could have planned. We talk about what it means to recognize when God opens a door, why sometimes things move quickly when the timing is right, and how marriage is about more than becoming husband and wife; it’s about remaining friends, growing together, and building a partnership centered on Christ. A house divided cannot stand, and a strong marriage starts with two people committed to growing closer to God and each other. Whether you’re single, dating, engaged, or married, we hope this conversation reminds you that God is always working even in the seasons where you can’t see the full picture yet. 🎙️ Season 2: Single & Set Apart
