Weird & Creepy 911 Calls: Pender County & The Weepy Voiced Killer | Part 1

Sometimes you call 911 because you need help. Sometimes… you call 911 because you just witnessed something you absolutely cannot explain. In Part 1 of our Weird & Creepy 911 Calls series, Alana takes the research reins and brings us two calls that are creepy for VERY different reasons. First, we head to Pender County, North Carolina, where a late night 911 call begins with a man reporting what appears to be a bloody person on the side of the road. Then something lands in the bed of his moving truck, and suddenly we get the now infamous “That’s not human” call. The recording is real, the caller was genuinely distressed, and what exactly he encountered that night is still up for debate. Then we take a much darker turn with the infamous Weepy Voiced Killer. In the early 1980s, serial killer Paul Michael Stephani made a series of bizarre, emotional calls to police after attacking and murdering women. His strange, sobbing voice earned him his nickname, and hearing the actual calls makes it painfully obvious why they have stuck with people for decades. One call leaves us wondering, “What the hell was in that truck?” The other leaves us wondering, “WHY WOULD YOU CALL 911 AND CONFESS?!” So grab your headphones, turn the lights down, and join us for Part 1 of Weird & Creepy 911 Calls. As always, we’re bringing you the facts, the theories, and probably a few questionable reactions along the way. 👻📞 Content warning: This episode discusses violent crimes, murder, and disturbing real 911 recordings. Listener discretion is advised. Music by Albert Behar
