Lee Arnold CEO of Be Bold For Jesus | TC 29 BB4J Ep

In this episode of Transforming Communities, Caleb sits down with Lee Arnold — the founder of Be Bold for Jesus, entrepreneur, and one of the most quietly obedient people you'll ever meet — who proves that God doesn't need a big stage to start a movement. He just needs a yes. Lee lost everything in 2008. The houses, the income, the identity — gone in three months. And he'll tell you it was the best thing that ever happened to him. What started as 18 people in a Dallas ballroom is now filling arenas in Spokane. And he never once had a master plan — just a willingness to keep saying yes. This conversation hits on: Why Lee says God doesn't move from little to massive — He moves incrementally, and what that means for your faith The scariest prayer you can pray — and why Lee didn't pray it but God taught it to him anyway How Be Bold went from 18 people to 8,500 — and what faithfulness actually had to do with it The raw and personal story Lee and his wife Jacqueline are walking through right now with 14 embryos and what it taught them about life beginning at conception Why boldness has nothing to do with a bullhorn — and everything to do with a weird, awkward conversation you've been avoiding What Billy Graham said about the next wave of evangelism — and why it's happening in your workplace right now If you're a believer trying to figure out what it looks like to build something for the kingdom and not just for yourself — this one's for you. "My Principal Said I'd End Up Dead Like My Brother" | TC 39

👇 SUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL — so this show can reach more people 👇 @caleb.altmeyer Transforming Communities — Episode 39 with Monica Hulubei Piergallini of Urban Youth Collaborative A lot of Christians assume you can't bring Jesus into public schools. Monica is proving otherwise. Monica grew up right here in Spokane in a broken home. Her brother died when she was 12. By 16 she was shooting up meth, and her principal told her she'd end up dead just like her brother. Then Jesus got ahold of her. She went on to spend 20+ years in public education — as a teacher, an administrator, and with the State Department of Education — before stepping out full-time to lead Urban Youth Collaborative here in our region. UYC raises up Christian students to start Bible clubs at lunch in their own middle and high schools — legally, through the Equal Access Act — and opens the door for local pastors and youth leaders to come alongside them. Kids who have never even heard the name of Jesus are meeting Him at school. Honestly, this one hit home for me. I gave my life to the Lord my senior year of high school because people were willing to pour into my life. We talked about what teachers can and can't say about their faith, why Monica calls America's public schools the largest mission field in the world, the lies this generation is believing, and the one question she'd ask every pastor in our city: who is your Timothy? If you're a pastor, a youth leader, a parent, or a Christian who's been sitting on the bench wanting to get in the game — the door is open. Get connected with Urban Youth Collaborative: uyc.org monica@uyc.org Want to serve? Get plugged into your local youth group first (they'll handle the background check), then come alongside a student-led Bible club. Topics covered: Monica's story: meth at 16 and a Jesus revelation The car crash that was God's "last chance" Being an "undercover Christian" in public education What teachers can and can't do about their faith at school How student-led Bible clubs work through the Equal Access Act Why public schools are the largest mission field in the world "There's not a miniature Holy Spirit" How any Christian adult can get involved #TransformingCommunities #UrbanYouthCollaborative #BibleClub #PublicSchools #Spokane #Discipleship #NextGeneration

When You Don't Get a Miracle, You Can Still Be One | Nick Vujicic | BB4J TC #38

👇 SUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL — so this show can reach more people 👇 @caleb.altmeyer Transforming Communities — Episode 38 with Nick Vujicic Nick Vujicic was born without arms or legs — and God has used him to preach the gospel in 89 countries, meet 37 presidents, and reach hundreds of millions of people with the hope of Jesus. This one was recorded live at the Be Bold for Jesus conference, where Nick was one of the main speakers. This conversation was special — and personal for me. My mom has been a quadriplegic since just months after she and my dad got married, so I grew up seeing faith and disability up close. Getting to ask Nick some of the questions I've carried my whole life meant a lot. We talked about the man who came to kill Nick in Indonesia — and gave his life to Jesus instead. Why he's sick and tired of the prosperity gospel. What people get wrong about supporting someone with a disability. The three questions he and his wife ask each other every month. Why his first disability was blaming God. And his heavy burden for America and the next generation. Nick said it best: "When you don't get a miracle, you can still be one." 🎬 NO LIMBS, NO LIMITS: THE NICKV STORY The new documentary on Nick's life is raw, honest, and full of hope — with home footage from his childhood and the story of the mom who fought for him. Excommunicated at 27, a Mother at 40 | Naomi Van Wyk | TC 36

👇 SUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL — so this show can reach more people 👇 @caleb.altmeyer Transforming Communities — Episode 36 with Naomi Van Wyk When Naomi Van Wyk was twelve, her father told her exactly what the enemy was going to use to destroy her life. He was a gifted evangelist who had led thousands to Christ. He was also, by most definitions, running a cult. And he was her dad. A decade later, what he'd spoken over her had come true. Naomi was the oldest of nine kids. At eighteen she was excommunicated for quitting her father's business, and spent a year and a half writing letters begging to be let back in — letters she says she should never have signed. At twenty-seven, a letter arrived signed by her parents and all eight of her siblings. She hasn't spoken to her parents since. We talked about the difference between a hard church and an actual cult, the years she spent in a same-sex relationship, what finally led her out — which was not shame — how she forgave a father who never apologized, and the six years of infertility that ended with a daughter whose middle name is Hope. This one is worth sending to somebody. Topics covered: What her father spoke over her at twelve The difference between a controlling church and a cult Excommunicated at 18, and again at 27 Entering and leaving the lesbian lifestyle Why it was God's love, not shame, that set her free Forgiving a father who never said sorry What the church gets wrong about the LGBTQ community Marriage at 37 and her first daughter at 40 Six years of infertility and "the hope to keep hoping" Her second miracle at 46 Trusted Voice Podcast — @naomivanwyk Free Forever Ministry #TransformingCommunities #Podcast #Testimony #Faith #Forgiveness #Freedom #Hope #Redemption

This year the Mission celebrates its 75th anniversary — and in half of those years, an Altmeyer has been at the helm. He's also my uncle, so I grew up inside this story. But sitting down with him, I realized how much I never knew. Phil didn't want this job. He was working with college students through Campus Crusade and had no interest in a building full of mice and cockroaches. What changed his mind is one of the best stories in this whole episode. We talked about the miracles he's watched happen over four decades, why UGM has never taken a dollar of government money, what actually transforms a person's life after addiction, and why he believes our current approach to homelessness is rewarding exactly the wrong things.
