From Woodburn to Opening for Ralph Barbosa | Armando Santoyo

What does it take to go from your first open mic to opening for one of the biggest names in comedy?  In Episode 7 of the Woodburn Podcast, I sit down with Armando Santoyo, a Woodburn High graduate and stand-up comedian who has been performing across the West Coast since 2018.  Armando shares how he got started in stand-up, what it feels like to bomb on stage, dealing with anxiety before a show, and how he turns real experiences from marriage, parenting, growing up, and some of the harder moments in life into comedy.  We also get into the opportunity that led to Armando opening for Ralph Barbosa for five shows in three days, what he learned from the experience, and where he wants to take his comedy career next.  And we bring it back home. Armando talks about growing up in Woodburn and the upcoming comedy show at K-Bron Brewing Co. on August 29, 2026, where he'll take the stage alongside other Latino comedians.  This one has plenty of laughs, but there's also a lot of good conversation about taking chances, dealing with nerves, sticking with something when it isn't going your way, and enjoying the process.  🎙️ Woodburn Podcast — Episode 7 🎤 Guest: Armando Santoyo — Comedian  Follow the Woodburn Podcast for more conversations with the people, businesses, athletes, creators, and personalities connected to our community.  Affordable Life Insurance  🎙️ Follow the Woodburn Podcast so you never miss an episode: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/woodburn_podcast/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@WoodburnPodcast Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/77Iyl9MbJDRaJypSwJWlGk Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/woodburn-podcast/id1850318151 Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/d5e3093f-0322-4b97-812a-66d7bec9b2f9/woodburn-podcast Hosted by Gilbert Lopez, owner of Legacy Insurance Group: https://legacyinsuregroup.com

Ep 5: "Don't Wait" — Cresencio Sanchez Built a Pressure Washing Business and an AI Hobby That Hit 1M Views

In this episode, we sit down with Cresencio Sanchez — owner of Under Pressure LLC, a pressure washing and window cleaning business based in Corvallis, Oregon, serving the Willamette Valley. Cresencio shares his journey from struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic, to taking the leap in 2021 with around a $1,200 pressure washer, to running a thriving local business across Oregon. He also opens up about waiting 10+ years to start, the young man who walked up to him in a parking lot asking for mentorship — who he ended up hiring and who still works alongside him today — and how his hobby exploring AI led to a Facebook reel that hit over 1 million views. We also dig into his perspective on AI — why he believes it's "just a tool," how he encourages his own kids to learn it, and the question every worker should be asking themselves right now. "AI is just a tool. Learn to use it." From the Streets of LA to Oregon’s Wine Country: Jesus Arellano on Building a New Life Through Real Estate

Jesus Arellano grew up in South Central LA before his family came to Oregon looking for something steadier. Wrestling is what turned things around for him. It gave him discipline and taught him to keep showing up, and those are the same things he leans on now in real estate. Today Jesus helps families across the Willamette Valley, including Woodburn, Hubbard, and Gervais, buy and sell homes. He works with first-time buyers, gets them through pre-approval, and stays with them all the way to the keys. He's a Realtor with Real Broker, a Real Estate Negotiation Expert (RENE) and Certified Expert Listing Agent (CELA). He works in both English and Spanish.  In this episode we get into why his family left LA, what Woodburn gave him, and what he wishes every first-time buyer knew before they start looking. Meet Brandon Singleterry: The Veteran Behind Anytime Fitness Woodburn

In the first episode of the Woodburn Podcast, host Gilbert Lopez sits down with Brandon Singleterry, the owner of Anytime Fitness in Woodburn, Oregon. After 22 years of military service across the Marines, Navy, and Army — including a deployment to Afghanistan — Brandon chose to make Woodburn his home. He opened Anytime Fitness here in 2008 and has spent the years since building a gym known for its welcoming, no-pressure atmosphere and for giving back through donations to the Woodburn School District, the local food bank, and Toys for Tots. In this conversation, Brandon shares how military discipline shaped the way he runs his business, why he believes you don't need to be a millionaire to live a good life, and the one piece of advice that's guided him through everything: know your role, focus on what you're good at, and stick with it. Whether you're a longtime Woodburn resident or new to town, this episode is a look at one of the people who make our community what it is.
