Why, after personally taking the Jewish people out of Egypt, did God suddenly assign an "Angel" to lead them into the land? And why is this Angel incapable of forgiving sin? Full Episode Here: https://alshechacademy.org/post/18 In this profound episode of Parasha Deep Dive, host Shlomo Godsi reunites with his close friend and teacher, the mathematician and Kabbalist Rabbi Yirmeyahou Levitas. Together, they decode the mystical "Default Mode" of the universe versus the "Shabbat Mode," revealing secrets from the Zohar and the Arizal that change how we view prayer, suffering, and even our meals. This is not a conversation about civil laws; it is a journey into the mechanics of Divine Providence, the secret of the "Sapphire Brick," and the spiritual art of consumption. In This Episode, We Uncover: The "Default Mode" vs. Shabbat: Why God uses an intermediary (the Malach) during the week to create a "distance of security," and how Shabbat allows for a dangerous, beautiful, direct encounter. The Arizal’s Meditation: A rare glimpse into a meditative practice regarding the Angel's name and how it connects to the Divine name. The Sapphire Brick: A heart-wrenching mystical teaching from the Tolaat Yaakov on how God participates in every ounce of Jewish suffering throughout history. Gazing While Eating: Re-reading the controversial story of the Nobles of Israel; was eating while seeing God a sin, or the ultimate act of elevating physical sparks? Healing is Not Magic: Understanding the conditional nature of Divine healing in the Torah versus "magic formulas." Initiated into English poetry through Nissim Ezekiel, Yirmi Levitas dabbles in philology, epistemology, hermeneutics, translation and mysticism. Educated in mathematics at EPFL and ETH, he started as a seer in the ’90s and continued as an empirical mathematician—more philosophical today than ever. For 13 years, he learned Jewish wisdom with an old sage in Jaffa: Sabba Avraham Iraqi haKohen al Ousta, who walked from Egypt to Mandatory Palestine in 1933 and studied at Yeshivat haMekoubalim Beit El before its destruction in 1948. The poetic works of Stéphane Mallarmé, Edmond Jabès, Paul Celan, Henri Meschonnic, Yvan Goll, René Char, Andreas Thalmayr, Jacques Roubaud imbue Levitas’ writing with ontological reflections on recursion and the Book, the emergence of light and Hebraic letters, and the reciprocation of image and divine absence. Moreover, various thinkers—Baruch de Spinoza, Henri Poincaré, Jorge Luis Borges, Jacques Derrida, Monsieur Chouchani and Grégory Lafitte, to name a few—extend his perspective on the traces and roles of infinity and combinatorics in the interplay of chance and structure. Alongside poetry, Yirmi Levitas pursues an art project, here in Ṣaffed, under his original artist name, Oshaya Oumana. iTunes podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/parasha-deep-dive-with-shlomo-godsi/id1850832081 Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/11kb4b4E3eavjiotdTNv9C YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@AlshechAcademy Facebook https://www.facebook.com/alshechacademy/ Instagram https://www.instagram.com/officialalshechacademy X/Twitter https://x.com/AlshechAcademy TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@alshechacademy LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/alshech-academy/ Threads https://www.threads.com/@officialalshechacademy Pinterest https://www.pinterest.com/alshechacademy/
