Come as you are, and stay for continued hope. Because redemption is possible — and it begins with your story.

Healing the Whole Person: Recovery, Identity, & Reclaiming Your Life | Dr. Calynn Lawrence

In this episode of The Redeeming Stories Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Calynn Lawrence for an honest conversation about mental health, complex trauma, substance use, suicide, identity, and what it can mean to approach recovery as a whole person. Calynn brings both her professional work and her lived experience as a Black queer woman who grew up in a low income environment and has navigated major depressive disorder, alcohol misuse, complex trauma, and suicidality. Rather than allowing any one part of her story to define her, she has used what she has learned to help create resources and greater access to support for others through Holistic Healing Source. Our conversation explores what whole person recovery actually means, why healing may need to address far more than symptoms, and how culture, identity, economic circumstances, community, and lived experience can influence both the need for support and a person’s ability to access it. This conversation connects deeply with the work I share through @redeem_thyself. We are more than what happened to us, more than the ways we learned to survive, and more than any single label someone might use to describe us. Healing can include discovering all of those parts of ourselves and beginning to understand how they belong together. Website Instagram (Business) Facebook (Business) Instagram (Personal) Facebook (Personal)

From Seeking Shelter to Creating Change: A Story of Survival & Advocacy | Tiffany Wilkson

In this episode of The Redeeming Stories Podcast, I sit down with Tiffany Wilkson, a wife, mother, grandmother, and advocate whose story has moved through domestic violence, shelter, serious illness, loss, healing, and eventually service to others. Years ago, Tiffany escaped an abusive relationship and entered a domestic violence shelter while working, attending college full time, and trying to regain custody of her children. During that already overwhelming season, she was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer. Faced with circumstances few of us can imagine, Tiffany made extraordinarily difficult decisions about her family and her future. Years later, she returned to the same shelter, this time as an advocate. When the emotional weight of that work became too much, she found another way to serve through board leadership. Today, Tiffany works with children and families experiencing homelessness through Family Promise of Great Falls and continues advocating around poverty and food insecurity. Our conversation explores survival, healing, empowerment, the complicated relationship between lived experience and advocacy, and something I think we need to talk about more often: caring deeply about others without losing ourselves in the process. This conversation reflects so much of what we explore through @redeem_thyself. Our hardest chapters can inform what comes next, but we still get to decide how much of ourselves we give and what redemption looks like for us. Website
