"Don't Ask What's in the Gap" | Recovering Your Awe of God

What do we actually mean when we say God is awesome? In this episode of the Focal Point Podcast, Tony and Brianna open a brand new series called Awesome God by asking a question most of us have never slowed down to answer: how big is your God, really? Using the same word for a taco, a movie, a vacation and the Creator of the universe has quietly drained it of meaning, so they head into Job 38, Isaiah 40 and Psalm 147 to let Scripture put the weight back into it. Along the way they talk honestly about what it looks like to hold onto God's greatness while you are still in the middle of a season that does not make sense. This conversation is for anyone walking through a hard stretch right now, for ministry leaders and volunteers whose prayer life has started to feel small, and for believers who want to recover wonder, reverence and holy fear instead of settling for a God who is just a slightly better version of us. It touches on suffering and unanswered questions, prayer expectations, worship that centers on God instead of ourselves, finding him in creation, and the tension of a God who is both infinite and intimately near. One of the biggest takeaways? "Are we asking God for an explanation when what we actually need is a bigger revelation of who God is?" When God finally answers Job, he never explains Job's circumstances. He zooms out and reveals himself instead. That shift, from needing an answer to seeing who God is, is what changes how you pray, how you worship, and how much you worry. If you have ever prayed a prayer that went unanswered, or found yourself staring at a gap you cannot explain, this conversation is for you. What Every Believer Needs to Hear About the Power of Invitation

What if the boldest thing you could do for someone this week is just say hello? In this special Friend Day episode of the Focal Point Podcast, Brianna steps out of the studio and into the church lobby to talk about the life-changing power of a simple invitation. They sit down with Pastor Vinny to unpack the vision behind Friend Day, then hear real, unscripted stories from members of the Focal Point family — about the moment an invitation changed everything, the fear of asking, and how one "yes" can grow into lasting discipleship. This conversation is for anyone who's ever hesitated to invite a friend to church, ministry and Growth Group leaders casting vision for outreach, and believers looking to turn everyday conversations into open doors for Jesus. If you've ever felt nervous to invite someone, wondered whether one invitation could really matter, or wanted a simple way to talk about your faith without it feeling like a sales pitch — this conversation is for you. They Need Protection, Not Privacy | A Detective's Warning to Parents | Focal Point Church

In this episode of the Focal Point Podcast, Tony sits down one-on-one with Lori, a retired detective and mental health counselor, as she reflects on more than two decades investigating crimes against children, what she's learned about how predators groom kids online, and practical, faith-rooted ways parents can protect their families today. This conversation is for parents, grandparents, youth leaders, and anyone who cares for kids online — covering grooming tactics, behavioral red flags, teen pornography exposure and addiction, the legal risks of sexting, and where families can turn for help. One of the biggest takeaways? Your kids don't need privacy, they need protection. When it comes to devices and online activity, safety has to come before independence — an unmonitored account or a closed bedroom door isn't a right kids are owed, it's a risk parents can't afford to overlook. If you've ever wondered what your kids are really seeing online — or worried you might be missing something — this conversation is for you. The Church Is a People, Not a Growth Group | The Shift to Discipleship

What if you don't need a title, a stage, or a seminary degree to be a minister of the gospel? In this episode of the Focal Point Podcast, Tony and Brianna sit down with Pastor Andrew [Last Name] as he reflects on Focal Point's shift from a growth-group model to a discipleship-first culture, what he's learned about equipping every believer for ministry, and why taking the next right step matters more than feeling fully ready. This conversation is for growth group leaders, anyone who's ever felt like ministry is "someone else's job," and every believer wondering how to actually live out discipleship day to day — touching on evangelism, Ephesians 4, church leadership, and what it means to follow Jesus. One of the biggest takeaways? You learn ministry by being in ministry — not by waiting until you feel ready. Pastor Andrew unpacks how discipleship isn't a class to finish or a maturity level to reach first — it's something God grows in you as you step out and start pouring into someone else. If you've ever felt like you're not "spiritual enough," don't know enough Scripture, or are just waiting for the right season to start discipling someone, this conversation is for you. Apart From Him, I Can Do Nothing | The Truth About Real Discipleship with Pr Kelly Sorensen

What if discipleship isn't nearly as complicated as we've made it? In this episode of the Focal Point Podcast, Tony and Brianna sit down with Pastor Kelly — back for a third time — as she reflects on what real discipleship looks like, what she's learned leading Growth Groups at Focal Point Church, and why depending on the Holy Spirit, not another program, is what actually transforms lives. Whether you're a Growth Group leader, a brand-new believer, or someone who's just tired of feeling like discipleship is one more thing to figure out, this conversation touches on authenticity, breaking free from religious checklists, and what it really means to do life with other people. One of the biggest takeaways? Discipleship isn't a program — it's a relationship. It's not about attending another class or chasing the next conference high. It's about depending on the Holy Spirit daily and doing real, unfiltered life with the people around you. If you've ever felt like discipleship is too complicated, too intimidating, or something reserved for "super Christians," this conversation is for you. What Every Young Adult Needs to Hear About Owning Their Faith

What happens to your faith the moment nobody's making you go to church anymore? In this episode of the Focal Point Podcast, Tony and Brianna sit down with Oscar and Alyssa, two leaders in Focal Point's Young Adult ministry, as they reflect on what it's really like to lead — and live out — faith in your twenties, what they've learned about building a Spirit-led community instead of a rigid program, and how God is stirring something explosive in the next generation. This conversation is for young adults figuring out life on their own for the first time, for parents wondering what faith looks like once the training wheels come off, and for ministry leaders who want an honest look at discipling 18–30 year-olds — touching on identity, isolation, accountability, prayer, and what it actually takes to own your faith. One of the biggest takeaways? Discipleship isn't a program you run — it's a mess you walk through together, led by the Holy Spirit instead of a schedule. Oscar and Alyssa share how trading rigid structure for flexibility hasn't slowed their ministry down — it's fueled some of the most explosive growth and life change they've seen. If you've ever wondered what it takes to keep showing up for your faith once no one's making you, this conversation is for you.
