Summer Blockbusters: What We (Didn't) Miss This Summer | Better Late Than Blockbuster

We're baaaaaaaack! We catch up on our summer movie watching by discussing all the movies we saw in theaters this summer and some we finally caught up on at home. We also take a deep dive into the little discussed movie of the summer, Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey." If you need yet another take on this cinematic masterpiece, you've come to the right place.

OPPENHEIMER: A NOT-SO-SECRET NOLAN EPISODE | BETTER LATE THAN BLOCKBUSTER

In keeping with the tradition of this podcast's namesake, we are 3 months late publishing our final birthday month episode. However, the timing couldn't be more perfect since we are merely days away from Christopher Nolan's latest film The Odyssey. We take advantage of Nolan's famous nonlinear time structure to choose this moment to dive into his previous Oscar-winning masterpiece (and Dana's favorite movie) Oppenheimer. We talk all things Oppie and how we might just officially turn this into a Not-So-Secret Nolan podcast after all.

Birthday Month: Remember The Titans | Better Late Than Blockbuster

It's our BIRTHDAY MONTH! To celebrate, for the month of March we're going off script by picking special movies that mean a lot to us. Some movies mean a lot to both of us, and that's why we're starting with Remember The Titans. A movie played on repeat during our childhood, we talk why it's important to us, how it was the first movie that we bonded over, how often we quote it to each other, and discuss sports movies in general.

Gladiator: We Were Entertained | Better Late Than Blockbuster

In this episode of Better Late Than Blockbuster we discuss the swords and sandals epic Gladiator. We both owed this film a watch since one of us hadn't seen it and it turns out watching this on a charter bus on a high school field trip is not the ideal viewing experience. Listen to us debate whether historical epics work, and why nothing tops seeing movies in the theater.

JAWS: We Thought We'd Seen This One | Better Late Than Blockbuster

We know, we know. We thought we'd already gotten the most embarrassing confession out of the way. Turns out seeing all of the iconic scenes over and over does not mean you've seen the movie. In this episode of Better Late Than Blockbuster, we discuss finally giving JAWS a proper watch and finding out (50 years late) that it's not just a B monster movie?!

No Time for Notes: Interstellar, Nolan Worship, and Sibling Commentary | Better Late than Blockbuster

In this episode of Better Late than Blockbuster, we quickly forget how to podcast like normal people. Dana finally admits that it took her nearly a decade to watch Interstellar, and what starts as a planned episode, turns into a live reaction to the movie. We spiral into a pseudo watch-along filled with awe, sibling debate, emotional damage, and unsolicited praise for Christopher Nolan. Because not only is it possible, it's necessary.

Mission Impossible: This Was Supposed to Self-Destruct Before We Watched It | Better Late Than Blockbuster

In this episode of Better Late Than Blockbuster, we catch up to Mission Impossible. A film it took one of us 30 years to see, and the other only (ahem)... 29. We talk why it's ok for spy movies to be about style over substance, remember how the internet apparently worked in 1996, and of course, Tom Cruise magic. I t took decades, multiple sequels, and zero self-destructing messages, but we finally accepted the mission. You know what they say: better late than blockbuster.
