You’re Not Behind — You’re Measuring Your Life Wrong

Have you ever been having a perfectly good day, opened your phone, saw somebody else winning — and suddenly started questioning your own life? They got promoted. They bought the house. Their business hit another milestone. They got married, published the book, landed the opportunity, or reached the goal you thought you would have reached by now. And somehow their good news started feeling like evidence that you're behind. In Episode 44 of the One Click Podcast, Dr. Mike Dorsey challenges one of the most dangerous questions we ask ourselves: “Shouldn't I be further along by now?” Drawing from his own experience on reality television, Dr. Mike explains why comparing your life to what you see from someone else can be so misleading. You are living every unfinished, uncomfortable, uncertain moment of your own story. But most of the time, you are seeing the edited version of theirs. And the post can be completely true while still not telling you the whole story. In this episode, you'll discover why feeling behind is often less about your actual progress and more about the timeline you're using to measure it. Dr. Mike also shares the parts of his own journey that didn't make the highlight reel — from $105 speaking engagements and budget accommodations to financial struggles, career uncertainty, years of preparation, and the experiences that eventually shaped the work you see today. Most importantly, you'll learn how to create your own personal scoreboard built around three things: Your values. Your behaviors. Your progress. Because somebody else's promotion, marriage, business growth, platform, house, book deal, or opportunity cannot tell you whether you're succeeding at the life you're actually called to live. Comparison doesn't always have to become condemnation. Sometimes comparison can become information. The question is whether you'll let somebody else's timeline become your deadline — or use what you're feeling to make your next honest move. YOUR ONE CLICK THIS WEEK Choose one behavior that represents progress in your life and track it for the next seven days. Don't track somebody else's followers. Don't track their income. Don't track their promotion. Don't track their timeline. Track whether you showed up. Your progress may not photograph well. Nobody may applaud it. You may never post it. But it still counts. Their announcement is not your report card. Their timeline is not your deadline. Stop trying to catch up to a life that was never yours to live. Own your timeline. Identify the win. Keep moving. How to Overcome Perfectionism and Finally Finish

How many versions of “final” are sitting on your computer right now? Final. Final V2. Final Revised. Final Revised New. Final Final. Final Final USE THIS ONE. At some point, the work may not still be unfinished. You may simply be afraid to release it. In Episode 43 of the One Click Podcast, Dr. Mike Dorsey explores a version of perfectionism that doesn’t stop us from starting—it stops us from finishing. Because perfectionism doesn’t always look like procrastination. Sometimes it looks like another revision. Another sentence change. Another slide adjustment. Another font. Another hour spent improving something that already does what it was designed to do. Dr. Mike explores the difference between excellence and perfectionism, why our work can become tied to our identity, and why releasing something can feel less like completing a project and more like submitting evidence about whether we’re “good enough.” In this episode, you’ll learn: Why perfectionism can disguise itself as excellence The difference between a real defect and a personal preference Why excellence has a finish line while perfectionism keeps moving it How fear of criticism can keep finished work hidden Why some things cannot improve until they encounter real people What “finished doesn’t mean final” actually means Why Version 1 doesn’t need to know everything Version 2 will eventually learn How to establish acceptance criteria before your anxiety gets a vote Why discomfort does not automatically mean the work isn’t ready How releasing your work creates feedback, information and momentum One of the central questions in this episode is: Am I improving this because the work actually needs something—or because releasing it makes me uncomfortable? Because there are some things you cannot learn while the work remains safely on your computer. At some point, it has to hit the air. And Version 1 may have one incredibly important job: Teach you what Version 2 needs to become. How to Stop people pleasing: Check Your CORE before You Say Yes

Why do we keep saying yes to things we don't actually have the time, energy, or desire to carry? People-pleasing doesn't always look like desperately wanting everyone to like you. Sometimes it looks like being dependable. Being capable. Being the person everyone knows will figure it out. Taking every opportunity because you don't know when the next one will come. Feeling obligated because someone once showed up for you. Or carrying expectations nobody actually placed on you. In Episode 42 of the One Click Podcast, Dr. Mike Dorsey explores what may really be driving your yes—and how to say no, pause, renegotiate, or give a limited yes without treating discomfort as proof that you've done something wrong. Dr. Mike introduces the C.O.R.E. framework: C — Capability: Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should. O — Opportunity: Not every open door is your door. R — Reciprocity: Gratitude is not the same as indebtedness. E — Expectation: Is this an expectation you actually agreed to—or one you created? You'll also learn practical language for slowing down automatic commitments, making your workload visible, giving a respectful no, and creating enough space for wisdom to catch up with your ability. Because every yes costs something. Time. Energy. Rest. Attention. Money. Family time. And sometimes another opportunity you can no longer accept. The goal isn't to become selfish or unreliable. It's to make more intentional commitments. Before your next yes, ask: What's driving my answer? Subscribe to the One Click Podcast for conversations about ownership, leadership, purpose, boundaries, growth, and the small shifts that create meaningful change. How to Recover From Burnout When You Feel Guilty Resting

What happens when you finally have time to rest…but you still feel guilty for taking it? For high performers, leaders, entrepreneurs, parents, ministry leaders, and people who are used to carrying a lot, slowing down can feel strangely irresponsible. Even when nobody is asking anything from us, an internal voice says: You should be doing something. In this episode of the One Click Podcast, Dr. Mike Dorsey explores why rest can feel uncomfortable, how productivity can become an internal rule, and why waiting until “everything is finished” is a trap—because there will always be another email, project, deadline, person, or responsibility. This isn’t a conversation about avoiding responsibility. It’s about learning the difference between managing your capacity and constantly maximizing it. Dr. Mike discusses: Why some high performers feel guilty when they stop The difference between real responsibility and old internal rules Why “I’ll rest when I’m finished” doesn’t work How overwork can hide unrealistic workloads and broken systems Why boundaries and honest capacity conversations matter Why being able to keep going doesn’t always mean you should What Sabbath teaches us about work, trust, and stopping How to rest without turning recovery into another productivity project A simple 48-hour challenge to start changing your relationship with rest One of the biggest questions in this episode is: What exactly are you guilty of? Did you actually abandon a responsibility—or are you simply uncomfortable because you aren’t producing right now? Before the next 48 hours are over, Dr. Mike challenges you to do two things: 1. Schedule one realistic period of rest. 2. Make one request that protects it. Not someday. Not after everything is finished. Now. If exhaustion is persistent, significantly affecting your ability to function, or feels bigger than a workload issue, consider talking with an appropriate qualified health or mental health professional. Why You're Still Stuck Even Though You Know What to Do

You know what to do—so why are you still stuck? Dr. Mike Dorsey explores why more information doesn't always create transformation and how to turn what you know into action. In Episode 39 of the One Click Podcast, Dr. Mike Dorsey explores the frustrating gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it consistently. Because sometimes the problem isn’t a lack of information. It’s the gap between insight and integration. We live in a world overflowing with advice about discipline, productivity, personal growth, leadership, faith, finances, relationships, health, and success. We can consume more information in one afternoon than previous generations could access in months. But knowing more does not automatically mean we change more. You can know you need to exercise and still avoid the workout. You can know you need to have the conversation and still keep postponing it. You can know what needs to change in your finances and still avoid looking at the numbers. You can know you need to start the business, write the book, apply for the opportunity, set the boundary, make the appointment, deepen your faith, or become more consistent—and still find yourself in exactly the same place. That’s because information can create awareness, but transformation requires integration. In this conversation, Dr. Mike challenges us to examine where we may have confused learning with movement, planning with progress, and consuming insight with actually taking ownership. The question is no longer simply: “What do I need to know?” The better question may be: “What do I already know that I’m not consistently practicing?” Because another podcast may inspire you. Another book may teach you. Another saved post may give you language. Another motivational video may make you feel ready. But eventually, something you already know has to become something you actually do. Your One Click Take a moment and identify one thing you already know you need to do but have not integrated into your life. Not ten things. One. Then ask yourself: What is the smallest action I can take that turns this knowledge into evidence? Maybe it’s sending the email. Taking the walk. Making the appointment. Opening the document. Having the conversation. Looking at the account. Putting down the phone. Returning to prayer. Asking for help. Or finally doing the thing you’ve been researching for six months. You may not need another answer. You may need to act on the answer you already have. If this episode challenged you, subscribe to the One Click Podcast, share it with someone who has been stuck between knowing and doing, and join the conversation below. Comment this sentence: “I already know I need to ________, and my next step is ________.” One decision. One action. One Click. #PersonalGrowth #MindsetShift #OneClickPodcast

How To influence Anyone Without Saying A Word

What are people learning from your life when you’re not trying to teach them? Your children are learning what responsibility looks like. Your team is learning how you handle pressure. Your spouse is learning whether apology, honesty, and difficult conversations are safe. Your friends are learning what your word actually means. And the people around you are learning what you consider normal — not only from what you say, but from what you repeatedly do. In Episode 38 of the One Click Podcast, Dr. Mike Dorsey challenges us to rethink what influence really means. Influence is not just about followers, visibility, titles, promotions, microphones, or having a platform. Reach tells you how many people can see you. Influence asks what people receive because they have experienced you. Whether you realize it or not, your life is already influencing someone. The real question is: What are you doing with that influence? In this episode, Dr. Mike explores how our repeated choices create culture in our families, workplaces, relationships, churches, teams, and communities — and why people often learn more from the patterns we normalize than the expectations we communicate. You’ll discover: Why influence begins long before you speak The difference between reach and real influence Why people often become what we normalize, not simply what we expect How your repeated patterns shape culture Why good intentions do not automatically erase negative impact What your responses to mistakes, pressure, correction, and conflict are teaching people Why influence moves in both directions — even between parents and children How support can become unhealthy when it turns into rescuing Why your private habits can affect your public leadership How to recognize patterns that are creating an impact you never intended Why repair, accountability, and changed behavior are part of responsible influence Dr. Mike also shares personal lessons from mentorship, leadership, health, fatherhood, relationships, and his own One Click journey to show that influence does not always move from the person with the biggest title to the person with the smallest. Sometimes the person you believe you are influencing is influencing you too. And sometimes one person's ownership gives everyone around them permission to take ownership as well. Your One Click for This Week Complete this sentence: “The influence I need to steward more intentionally is ________.” Then answer these five questions: The people most affected by my actions are… The pattern I may be unintentionally teaching is… The value I want to model is… The daily action that would model that value is… The repair I may need to make is… You do not have to change everything this week. Choose: One relationship. One pattern. One value. One daily action. One repair. Because your influence does not become intentional simply because you thought about it. It becomes intentional when your patterns begin to change. The people around you do not need you to become perfect. They need you to become responsible. If this episode challenged you, share it with someone whose life has influenced yours. Then tell them: “Your life influenced mine.” And in the comments, answer this question: What influence are you choosing to steward more intentionally this week? How to Break Limiting Beliefs

What if the thing you keep calling your personality is actually a limiting belief? “I’m not disciplined.” “I always quit.” “I’m bad with money.” “I’m not leadership material.” “I missed my moment.” “I cannot change.” Those sentences may feel like honest self-awareness, but they could be old stories formed through failure, shame, disappointment, fear, or survival. In Episode 37 of the One Click Podcast, Dr. Mike confronts one of his own limiting beliefs and explores how a necessary lesson in humility became an unhealthy commitment to staying small. You’ll learn the difference between: “I failed” and “I am a failure” Humility and self-rejection Faith and avoiding reality A real limitation and a limiting belief Waiting for clarity and waiting for obedience to feel comfortable Dr. Mike also shares a practical process for challenging the lie: Name the sentence. Find the wound beneath it. Honour the true lesson. Separate the lesson from the lie. Choose new ownership language. Take one action that contradicts the old belief. Your past may explain the lie, but it does not get to write your next chapter. Your One Click for This Week Complete this sentence: “The limiting belief I am ready to challenge is…” Then choose one small action that proves the old sentence is no longer in charge. Share your answer in the comments, subscribe to the channel, and send this episode to someone who has been allowing an old story to lead their life. #LimitingBeliefs #MindsetShift #OneClickPodcast
