    The Danger of Comfortable Faith

What if the greatest threat to your spiritual growth isn't difficulty, but comfort? In this episode of the Living Out 180 Podcast, Kendall and Pastor Brad continue their series through the book of Esther, exploring how comfort can quietly lead to complacency and how God often positions us for purposes we cannot yet see. Esther has become queen of Persia, but outside the palace, a dangerous plot is unfolding. Haman's pride and anger toward Mordecai lead to a decree threatening the destruction of the Jewish people. While Esther enjoys the privileges of her position, she is unaware of the crisis developing around her. Her story raises an important question: What are we missing because we've become comfortable? Together, Kendall and Brad discuss the dangers of casual faith, the responsibilities that come with influence, and the difference between reaching a destination and discovering God's purpose. Sometimes the position we've worked so hard to reach isn't the reward. It's preparation for something greater. And sometimes the greatest obstacle to following God isn't opposition. It's our unwillingness to leave what's familiar. Through conversations about life, leadership, and discipleship, this episode challenges us to examine whether we're still growing, recognizing the needs around us, and making decisions that require genuine faith. God doesn't position us for comfort. He positions us for purpose. Key Scripture: Esther 3:1–15Romans 8:28Three questions to consider: Where have I become so comfortable that I've stopped growing? What might God be preparing me for in my current season? When was the last time I made a decision that genuinely required faith? This week's reflection: Are you living with a faith that requires something of you, or have you become comfortable simply maintaining what you already have? Don't confuse comfort with completion. God may still be preparing you for something you cannot see yet. 180churchtn.com

    When Life Changes Your Plans

In this episode of the Living Out 180 Podcast, Kendall and Pastor Brad begin a new series through the book of Esther, a story of unexpected circumstances, quiet faithfulness, and the providence of God. Esther’s story doesn’t begin with a crown. It begins with loss, uncertainty, political upheaval, and circumstances she never chose. Yet through seemingly ordinary events, God is positioning Esther and Mordecai for something neither of them can see coming. That is one of the remarkable things about Esther: God’s name is never explicitly mentioned, yet His providence can be seen throughout the story. Together, Kendall and Brad explore what Esther teaches us about seasons when life changes our plans without our permission. They discuss how God can use circumstances we would never choose, why His apparent silence does not mean He is absent, and why doing the right thing still matters even when no one seems to notice. Sometimes God works through miracles. Other times, He works through conversations, relationships, unexpected opportunities, closed doors, changed plans, and ordinary acts of faithfulness. That is providence: God using ordinary moments to accomplish His greater purposes. Key Scripture: Esther 1–2 Romans 8:28 Three truths to remember: God can use the very thing you did not choose. Even when God feels absent, it doesn’t mean He isn’t working. Faithfulness is never wasted. Listen in and reflect: Where might God be working in your story right now, even if you cannot see it yet? 180churchtn.com

Pursuing God — Surrendered and Spirit Led

In this episode of the Living Out 180 Podcast, Kendall and Pastor Brad continue the Pursuing God series by bringing together two deeply connected parts of the Christian life: worship and the Holy Spirit. Worship is more than a song we sing. Romans 12 describes true worship as offering our entire lives to God. It begins when we see God for who He is, responds through surrender, and ultimately changes the way we live. But we were never meant to live a surrendered life through our own strength. Together, Kendall and Brad explore Jesus' promise of the Holy Spirit and how the Spirit convicts us, transforms us, teaches us, leads us, and empowers us. His work produces Christlike character in us and equips us to live as witnesses who point others toward Jesus. The conversation also turns toward life, leadership, and discipleship. What does Spirit-led leadership actually look like? Are we measuring spiritual growth by our gifts and accomplishments, or by the fruit being produced in our lives? And what might God be asking us to surrender so He can continue transforming who we are? Worship says, "God, my life belongs to You." The Holy Spirit says, "Let Me transform it." Key Scripture: Romans 12:1–2 Isaiah 6:1–8 John 14:16–18, 26 Galatians 5:22–26 Acts 1:8 John 16:13–14 Ephesians 5:18–21 Listen in and reflect: What is God asking you to put on the altar, and are you willing to let the Holy Spirit transform what you surrender? 180churchtn.com

Pursuing God — Prayer That Shapes the Way We Live

In this episode of the Living Out 180 Podcast, Kendall and Pastor Brad bring together two powerful themes: prayer and godliness. Using 1 Timothy 6 as the foundation, they explore what it really means to pursue God. Prayer is more than asking God for help, and godliness is more than simply looking religious. When we pursue God through prayer, that relationship should begin to shape the way we live, lead, love, serve, forgive, and respond to others. Kendall and Brad walk through the Lord’s Prayer as a model for a life centered on God: connecting with Him relationally, worshiping His name, seeking His kingdom first, depending on Him daily, keeping our hearts right with others, engaging in spiritual warfare, and trusting His power. They also connect those rhythms of prayer to the biblical picture of godliness, where faith becomes visible through our speech, conduct, love, faith, purity, and willingness to take real action. The conversation also turns to the Good Samaritan as an example of what godliness looks like in motion. True faith looks past labels, shows mercy, takes action, and follows the heart of God. For life, leadership, and discipleship, the challenge is simple: Pursue Him privately. Reflect Him publicly. Key Scripture: 1 Timothy 6:11–12 Matthew 6:9–13 Mark 1:35 James 5:16 James 2:21–24 Galatians 5:16 1 Timothy 4:12 Luke 10:25–37 Listen in and reflect: Is your pursuit of God changing the way you live? 180churchtn.com
