Why Partners Should Be 40% of Your Revenue | Vaughn Mordecai

Vaughn Mordecai has a number that stops most revenue leaders cold. In a healthy B2B business, partners should be driving close to 40% of your revenue. Most companies never get near that, and the reason is not strategy. It is that they underestimate how much work a real partner channel takes, and they try to run it on spreadsheets long after it has outgrown them. In this episode I sat down with Vaughn, the Chief Revenue Officer at Mindmatrix, to get into what a partner led revenue engine actually looks like when it works. We talk about the partnerships nobody expects, like the World Cup luxury boxes that quietly drive huge downstream spend, and the local shop that supports a whole school district long after the laptops are delivered. Then we get into AI, and this is where Vaughn is sharp. He gets millions of AI written messages, and he can spot the lazy ones in seconds. His point is that AI does not make outreach good or bad. It just scales whatever you already are. The teams winning with it use AI to clear the admin off their plate so they can put that time back into real human relationships. We also cover the stat that reframes the whole thing. About 80% of the buyer journey happens before someone ever talks to a seller, so the work is staying useful and staying top of mind long before anyone is ready to buy. And we close on his favorite metaphor, running go to market like a soccer formation, where direct, marketing, and partnerships play as one team instead of three. If you are building a channel or trying to figure out where your revenue actually comes from, this one is worth your time.

The Death of the Sales Leader in the Age of AI (Justin Shriber)

Most people think AI's biggest effect on sales is speed. Justin Shriber sees something sharper. In this conversation he tells Meir that AI did not just make outbound faster, it made it dangerous. We used to hand a rep a cigarette lighter that could burn one or two contacts. Now we hand them a flame thrower that can decimate an entire ICP in a single afternoon. Justin is the CEO and cofounder of Terret and the host of Revenue Mavericks, and he has spent his career in the rooms where revenue leaders make their calls, from People.ai to LinkedIn to Oracle. He walks through why the old sales leader, the one who ran a tight playbook like a conductor reading a score, is giving way to something closer to Miles Davis: a leader who reads the room in real time and moves the whole band with them. We get into the two camps forming around AI, the ones leaning in and getting more productive, and the ones keeping it at arm's length out of fear. Justin is blunt about which group keeps winning. He also names where companies quietly burn money on AI science projects, and the three use cases that actually pay off right away. The line that stuck with me most: people do not want to be interrupted. They want to be invited. Justin explains how Terret rebuilt its entire go to market around that one idea, trading cold calls and cold emails for invitations people opt into. If you lead a revenue team, or you sell into one, this is a clear look at what is changing and what to do about it. Find the full episode and more conversations at https://getrevgenai.com/podcast

Gated Content Is Dead | Bryan House, CEO of Elastic Path

Bryan House has a rule that would terrify most marketing teams: if it's gated, it doesn't exist. As CEO of Elastic Path, he watched buying behavior shift — people research through LLMs and arrive educated long before they ever talk to a vendor — so his team deleted every form on the website except two: schedule a demo and contact us. Everything else is freely available, for humans and for AI agents doing the research on their behalf. We get into what that decision actually did to their go-to-market, and why the old marketing KPIs — form fills, gated leads — were measuring the wrong thing all along. Bryan's been building for a while: founding team at Acquia, which he helped scale past $170M in revenue, then Chief Commercial Officer at Neural Magic before taking the helm at Elastic Path. That experience shows up all over this conversation — from what "1,500 ways to configure a couch" taught him about real commerce complexity, to why throwing money at growth stopped working after the ZIRP era, to his Keith Richards theory of constraints: the blues is the 12 bars, and the creativity is what you do inside them. We also talk about the trap of believing your own BS as a leader, why repositioning starts with looking at who actually buys, and his honest take on why growth stalls: only a tiny fraction of your market is in market at any moment, and reaching them is the whole game.
