S2 E12 LinkedIn Is Becoming Facebook, and That’s Not a Bad Thing

LinkedIn is becoming Facebook. There. We said it. But before you start yelling about how LinkedIn used to be a "professional platform," hear us out. LinkedIn is changing, again. New feeds. More personalized content. More emphasis on topics. More human content. More algorithm changes that have everyone trying to figure out what the hell we're supposed to post now. And in this special unfiltered episode of Your Future Biz, we're breaking down what we're seeing, what actually matters, and what you should probably stop obsessing over. Because here's the thing. We're not chasing virality. We're using LinkedIn to support our businesses and feed our pipelines. And those are two VERY different strategies. LinkedIn is putting more emphasis on subject-matter expertise, content relevance, and understanding what you're actually known for. Translation? Posting about whatever happens to be trending that day isn't a LinkedIn strategy. In fact, jumping from AI to leadership to sales to some random viral topic because you think it'll get impressions can actually work against you. You need to give LinkedIn, and your buyers, a reason to understand what the hell you're known for. In this episode: → Why LinkedIn is starting to feel a whole lot more like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok → What LinkedIn's evolving "For You" experience could mean for your content strategy → Why chasing trending topics and viral content isn't the goal → How LinkedIn is identifying subject-matter experts → Why consistently talking about your core topics matters more than ever → What happened when one of Lindsay's branded LinkedIn posts basically got thrown into LinkedIn jail → The changes that took the same post from 68 impressions to thousands → How branded content, external links, UTM parameters, excessive tagging, and promotional language can send the wrong signals → Why your video and written LinkedIn post shouldn't say the exact same thing → How too many calls to action can screw up an otherwise good post → Why every business-related LinkedIn post needs a purpose → How educational, conversion-focused, and personal content play different roles in your strategy → Why personal posts still belong on LinkedIn → How to build a personal brand without turning your feed into a random collection of thoughts And yes, you can still talk about your kids. Your travels. Baseball. What's for dinner. The point isn't to turn yourself into a boring corporate robot who only talks about three approved business topics for the rest of your life. It's to be strategic. Your expertise builds authority. Your educational content builds trust. Your personal content helps people know the human behind the expertise. And your conversion content gives the right people a reason to take the next step. Stop posting just because you think you're supposed to post. Know what the goal is. Know who you're trying to reach. Know what you want to be known for. Then keep showing up. Because LinkedIn changing doesn't mean you need to completely reinvent your strategy every three weeks. It means you need a strategy strong enough to survive the changes. And with that, we're wrapping up Season 2 of Your Future Biz. Thank you for hanging with us this season. We're already looking forward to Season 3, and trust us, we're just getting started. S2 E11 Your Sales Pipeline Is Full of Crap

In Episode 10, we talked about qualifying leads before they eat up 45 minutes of your calendar. Now let's zoom out. Because qualifying one opportunity correctly doesn't mean much if the rest of your sales pipeline is full of crap. Yes, we're talking about poopy pipelines. And yes, it's a real business problem. In this episode, Lindsay and Mandy break down why inaccurate sales pipelines lead to bad forecasts, missed revenue targets, and sales teams that have no freaking clue what they're actually going to close. Because moving a close date forward every Friday isn't pipeline management. It's wishful thinking. If a deal has been sitting there for months, the prospect has ghosted you, or nobody has confirmed they're actually trying to solve the problem, it probably doesn't belong in your active pipeline. And keeping it there isn't harmless. Bad pipeline data creates bad sales forecasts. Bad forecasts create bad business decisions. And when you're answering to a CEO, board, or investors, "we thought those deals were going to close" isn't exactly a great strategy. In this episode: → What actually makes a sales pipeline "poopy" → Why inaccurate CRM data destroys sales forecasting → The three things every opportunity needs before entering your pipeline → Why an inbound lead isn't automatically a qualified opportunity → How interest, fit, and timing determine whether a deal is real → When to close-lost a deal instead of pushing the close date again → Why pipeline stages matter when forecasting revenue → How Lindsay got an entire sales team to 90% forecast accuracy → Why sales leaders need to connect pipeline management to what reps actually care about → How to nurture prospects who aren't ready to buy without clogging up your pipeline → Where LinkedIn and social selling fit into long-term lead nurturing Here's the uncomfortable part. Cleaning up your pipeline might make your numbers look worse. Good. Because once you remove the deals that aren't actually going anywhere, you finally know how much real pipeline you have. And if that number scares you, you know what to do next. Go create more pipeline. Stop letting dead deals make you feel better about your numbers. Clean it up. Flush out the crap. Get an accurate picture of what you're actually working with. Because if you put poop in, you're going to get poop out. S2 E10 That's Not a Lead... Yet

Just because someone wants to talk doesn't mean they're a qualified lead. One of the biggest mistakes founders make is treating every inquiry like it's a future customer. Before you know it, your calendar is packed, you're writing proposals for people who were never going to buy, and you're wondering where all your time went. In this episode of Your Future Biz Unfiltered, Mandy and Lindsay break down how to stop chasing tire kickers, qualify better leads, and protect your calendar without giving people a bad experience. You'll learn why discovery actually starts before the discovery call, why your Calendly link shouldn't be public, and how to know whether someone deserves your time before you spend 45 minutes on Zoom. In this episode: Why not every lead belongs in your pipelineThe biggest mistake founders make with CalendlyHow to qualify leads before booking a meetingThe questions every discovery call should answerWhen to talk about budget (hint: earlier than you think)Why sending proposals too soon kills your close rateHow to identify tire kickers before they waste your timeWhy your gut is one of your best sales toolsThe tactical takeaway? Your calendar is one of the most valuable assets in your business. Protect it. Not every prospect deserves a meeting. Ask better questions.Listen more than you talk.Qualify early.Disqualify often. And don't confuse interest with buying intent. Because the fastest way to grow your business isn't taking every meeting. It's taking the right ones. The best sales strategy isn't taking more meetings. It's taking the right ones. S2 E9 How to Use LinkedIn Sales Navigator to Generate More Leads

In the last episode, we talked about why most follow-up fails and how to stay persistent without becoming annoying. Now it's time to answer the next question, who should you actually be following up with? In this episode of Your Future Biz, Mandy and Lindsay break down how to use LinkedIn Sales Navigator to stop wasting time chasing cold leads and start finding prospects who are already showing buying signals. The reality is that most people pay for Sales Navigator and barely use it. Instead of becoming another expensive subscription, Sales Navigator can become one of the most valuable tools in your sales process when you know how to use it strategically. Mandy walks through the exact workflow she uses to identify high-value accounts, organize prospect lists, prioritize buyer intent, and create personalized outreach that actually starts conversations. If you're using Sales Navigator, or you've been wondering if it's worth the investment, this episode will show you how to turn it into a predictable lead generation engine. In this episode, you'll learn: → Why most sales teams never get ROI from Sales Navigator → How to build targeted account and lead lists that match your ideal customer profile → The buying signals hidden inside Sales Navigator that most sellers ignore → How to use funding events, hiring activity, and job changes to prioritize outreach → Why first-degree connections are your lowest-hanging fruit → How to leverage mutual connections for warm introductions → The simple daily workflow that turns Sales Navigator into a consistent source of sales conversations Whether you're a founder, consultant, SDR, AE, or sales leader, these practical workflows will help you spend less time prospecting and more time talking to the right people. S2 E8 How to Follow Up Without Being Annoying

In Episode 7, we talked about why outbound works better when you combine it with social selling. Now let's talk about what happens after you've made the connection. Because starting the conversation is only half the battle. The real opportunity is in the follow-up. Most people don't lose deals because of bad outreach. They lose them because they quit too soon. In this episode, Mandy and Lindsay break down what effective follow-up actually looks like, and why persistence, when done the right way, builds trust instead of annoyance. Because buyers are busy. They're not ignoring you to be rude. They're juggling priorities, buried in emails, and responding to whatever feels most urgent.  In this episode: → Why most sellers give up long before they should → How many follow-up touchpoints it really takes to get a response → What makes a follow-up valuable instead of annoying → Why "just checking in" doesn't work anymore → How to use LinkedIn voice notes and video messages to stand out → When to use email, LinkedIn, text, and comments throughout the sales process → Creative follow-up ideas that actually get replies → How to stay top of mind without sounding pushy Follow-up isn't just about sending another message. It's about giving someone another reason to remember you. Another reason to trust you. Another reason to respond. Because every touchpoint is an opportunity to build credibility, not just ask for the meeting. If your current follow-up strategy is "checking in" or "circling back," it's time for an upgrade. S2 E7 Cold Calling Without the Cringe

Cold calling isn’t dead. But the boiler room approach?  Yeah. We can leave that one in the past. In this episode of Your Future Biz Unfiltered, Lindsay is joined by cold calling pro Riley Blaisdell to talk about what actually works when you pick up the phone today. Because here’s the thing: your prospects are drowning in noise. They’re getting emails, automated messages, LinkedIn DMs, sales calls, and probably a pitch about office toilet paper while they’re at it. Getting someone’s attention is harder than ever. The answer isn’t MORE noise. It’s being more human. Riley breaks down how he approaches cold calling as one piece of a bigger outreach strategy, why he’s often trying to disqualify a lead instead of forcing a yes, and how a real human voice can create connection in a way another automated touchpoint can’t. They get into the cold calling mistakes that make people want to throw their phones across the room, including bad manners, desperation, and deciding you’re terrible at cold calling before you’ve put in the reps to get better. You’ll also hear why leaving a voicemail isn’t necessarily a waste of time, how following up exactly when you said you would builds trust, and why the best cold callers understand that there is an actual human being on the other end of the phone. The big takeaway? Pick up the damn phone. You might get voicemail. You might get hung up on. You might sound like a dummy. Do it anyway. But do it with empathy. Pay attention. Take notes. Follow through. And remember that cold calling is a tool, not your entire sales strategy. Meet people where they actually want to be met. Phone. Email. Video. In person. Smoke signals, if that’s what gets the conversation started. Because good selling isn’t about forcing your way into someone’s pipeline. It’s about doing the work, building familiarity, and acting like a human while you do it. S2 E6 Outbound isn't broken. Your approach is.

In Episode 5, we talked about protecting your profit and setting better boundaries with clients. Now let's talk about how to get more of those clients in the first place. Because despite what the internet keeps saying... Outbound isn't dead. It just can't be outbound only anymore. In this episode, Mandy and Lindsay break down what's actually working in modern B2B sales and why the best sellers aren't choosing between outbound and social selling. They're combining both. Because buyers have changed. They're checking your LinkedIn profile.Reading your content.Looking at your comments. And deciding whether they trust you long before they ever respond to your email or pick up your call.  In this episode: → Why outbound sales isn't dead, despite what everyone keeps saying → What social selling actually means (and what it doesn't) → Why cold email and cold calling work better when paired with LinkedIn → How to build trust before you ever ask for a meeting → The role personal branding plays in modern B2B sales → Why buyers need multiple touchpoints before taking action → How to use comments, content, and conversations to warm up outreach → The simple omni-channel approach that's working right now Here's the reality. Your prospects are getting flooded with emails. They're getting bombarded with cold calls. And AI is making it easier than ever for sellers to send more messages than ever before.  The people standing out aren't necessarily sending more outreach. They're building more trust. Because when someone sees your content, engages with your comments, and recognizes your name before you reach out, you're no longer just another stranger in their inbox. You're familiar. And familiarity creates opportunity. If your current strategy is relying entirely on cold outreach, this episode will show you what's missing. S2 E5 Stop Giving Away Work for Free

In Episode 4, we talked about building trust before asking for the sale. But once clients start saying yes, a new challenge shows up. And for a lot of founders, it’s the thing quietly destroying their margins. Scope creep. The easiest way to lose money in your business? Saying yes to every extra request. “Sure, we can add that.” “No problem, we’ll do a few more revisions.” “We can create two more videos.” Before you know it, you're over budget, behind schedule, and paying for your client’s project out of your own pocket. In this episode, Mandy sits down with Leslie Douglas to talk about one of the most common founder mistakes: underestimating your value and giving away work for free. Because scope creep rarely starts with bad clients. It usually starts with weak boundaries. In this episode: → How scope creep quietly destroys profitability → Why founders struggle to charge for additional work → The mindset shift that makes pricing conversations easier → When to send a change order instead of saying yes → Why being "too nice" can hurt your business → How to set client boundaries without damaging relationships → Common founder mistakes that lead to burnout and shrinking margins → How to protect your time, energy, and profitability as you grow This is a real conversation about pricing, confidence, client management, and building a business that actually supports you. Because your client's budget is not your budget. And every time you absorb extra work without charging for it, you're teaching people that your expertise is free. If you're constantly overdelivering, undercharging, and wondering where the profit went, start here.
