    THEY KNEW THE MOUNTAINS WERE CHANGING: Nepal, Tibet & the Warnings Before the Disaster

    What did governments know before the catastrophic August 26, 2026 disaster along the Nepal–Tibet border? In this follow-up to “What Happened to Free Tibet?”, Mama Rae investigates what was known before the mountain came down. Scientists had warned for years that Himalayan glaciers were rapidly changing. Transboundary glacial floods had repeatedly affected Nepal, including a devastating 2025 flood in this same border corridor. Then, on May 27, 2026 — just three months before the catastrophe — Nepali and Chinese officials met to discuss glaciers, floods, hazard mapping and disaster preparedness. According to Reuters, Nepal wanted expanded information about early glacier movement that could help warn downstream communities. Three months later, catastrophe struck. We investigate: • Years of Himalayan glacier warnings • The 2025 China–Nepal border flood • The May 27 China–Nepal meeting • What Nepal requested from China • The warning that gave 900+ students and faculty roughly 14 minutes to evacuate before their school was destroyed • What scientists believe collapsed on August 26 • Chinese, U.S. and international humanitarian responses • Restrictions on foreign journalists attempting to reach affected areas of Tibet • Reports of disaster footage disappearing from Chinese platforms • Beijing’s response • The death and missing-person toll • What Tibetan communities and cultural history may have been lost IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE This investigation does NOT conclude that China caused the disaster, intentionally allowed it to occur or knew this specific collapse was imminent.     The Book of Enoch Investigation Part 4: The Watchers | Who Were They & What Did They Teach Humanity?

    We promised we were going to meet them. Now it’s time. The Watchers. In Part 4 of the Mama Rae Podcast’s investigation into the Book of Enoch, we finally open the ancient text and examine one of its strangest and most controversial stories. According to 1 Enoch, a group of heavenly beings known as the Watchers descended to Earth, took human wives, produced extraordinary offspring—and introduced humanity to knowledge the text portrays as forbidden. Weapons. Metallurgy. Cosmetics. Astrology. Enchantments. Plants and roots. Signs of the Earth and heavens. But why would an ancient text portray the transmission of knowledge as something dangerous? And what does this story have to do with the mysterious passage in Genesis 6:1–4 describing the “sons of God,” human women and the Nephilim? We investigate the Watchers’ descent to Mount Hermon, their oath, Shemihazah/Semjaza, Azazel, the giants, the Nephilim tradition and the forbidden knowledge attributed to the Watchers. Then we compare Enoch with Genesis, Jude and 2 Peter to determine where these ancient traditions overlap—and where modern theories go far beyond what the texts actually say. We also ask a question that feels remarkably relevant thousands of years later: Can humanity acquire knowledge faster than it develops the wisdom to use it responsibly?     The Book of Enoch Part 3: Who Decided What We Were Allowed to Read?

    Why isn’t the Book of Enoch in most Bibles? And perhaps the more important question is: Who decided? In Part 3 of the Mama Rae Podcast investigation into the Book of Enoch, we move beyond what the text says and investigate something much bigger—the history of who determines which ancient writings become Scripture, which remain outside the canon, and which eventually disappear from mainstream religious education almost entirely. Because the Book of Enoch did not simply vanish. Ancient Jewish communities were copying Enochic writings more than 2,000 years ago. Fragments from multiple manuscripts were discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran. The New Testament’s Epistle of Jude contains a prophecy attributed to Enoch that closely parallels 1 Enoch 1:9. And while Enoch disappeared from the biblical canon used by most Western Christians, it survived within the tradition of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. So what happened? Was Enoch deliberately removed? Was it simply one of many ancient religious writings that failed to achieve widespread canonical acceptance? Why did some Christian traditions preserve books that others did not? And who historically had the power to determine which knowledge ordinary people could access? This episode also takes on a controversial theory: What if certain knowledge has historically been treated as privileged information? Throughout history, access to manuscripts, libraries, education, translation and literacy has not been equally distributed. Religious institutions, governments, universities, empires and other powerful institutions have all played roles in preserving, restricting, interpreting—or sometimes destroying—information. That historical reality does not automatically prove that a secret group intentionally suppressed the Book of Enoch. But it gives us a question worth investigating. And on the Mama Rae Podcast, we’re going to investigate it. If information exists that was once accessible primarily to scholars, religious authorities, governments, wealthy collectors or powerful institutions, I want ordinary people to be able to examine it too. Give us the manuscripts. Give us the archaeology. Give us the translations. Give us the arguments. Give us the primary sources. We are breaking the traditional learning system by refusing to outsource our curiosity. This isn’t about telling you what to believe.     What Happened to “Free Tibet”? | The Tibet-Nepal Disaster, China & the Story the World Forgot

    What happened to “Free Tibet”—and why does that question suddenly feel so urgent again? On August 26, 2026, catastrophe struck communities along the Nepal-Tibet border, leaving scores dead and many more missing. As rescue efforts continue, another question has resurfaced: What happened to the movement that once demanded the world pay attention to Tibet? For decades, “FREE TIBET” was one of the world’s most recognizable human-rights slogans. Then much of the Western world seemingly stopped talking about it. But Tibet didn’t disappear. In this episode of the Mama Rae Podcast, Rachel examines the history behind the Free Tibet movement—from China’s entry into Tibet in 1950 and the controversial 1951 Seventeen Point Agreement to the 1959 Tibetan uprising and the Dalai Lama’s escape into India. We examine China’s description of Tibet’s “peaceful liberation,” the competing Tibetan account, and the Dalai Lama’s Middle Way Approach, which seeks meaningful Tibetan autonomy within the People’s Republic of China rather than complete independence.
