  1. Peter's Passover - Echoes of Exodus

Peter's Passover - Echoes of Exodus

In this Sojourners Storycast episode, we trace the sweeping story of God’s deliverance—from the first Passover in Egypt, to Jesus the true Passover Lamb, to Peter’s miraculous prison escape, and the echoes of that same rescue still at work today. Through every scene, we see one unchanging truth: God is always bringing His people out—out of slavery into freedom, out of darkness into light, and out of death into life. On the night of Passover, God’s people waited in Egypt as judgment passed over the land and the blood of a lamb marked the homes of those who trusted Him. Many years later, Jesus gathered with His disciples in an upper room and revealed that He Himself was the fulfillment of that story—the Lamb whose body would be given and whose blood would be poured out for many. And still later, in the days of the early church, Peter sits chained in prison during another Passover, only to be rescued in a way that echoes both Exodus and the resurrection of Jesus. From Egypt to Jerusalem to a prison cell in Acts, the same God is at work—faithful to save, powerful to deliver, and present with His people in every generation. And today, that same story continues in all who belong to Christ. Scripture: Exodus 12; Luke 22:14–20; Matthew 26:26–28; Acts 12:1–17; Colossians 1:13–14; 1 Corinthians 5:7 This episode is part of the Sojourner Storycast—a storytelling series for kids, teens, and families that weaves Scripture together to show how God faithfully works through His people to accomplish His perfect plan. Philip and the Ethiopian

In this Sojourner Storycast episode, we follow the amazing story of Philip and the Ethiopian man on a desert road. Through their encounter, we see how the good news about Jesus doesn’t stay in one place—it goes wherever God sends it. God’s plan was always to bring people close to Him through Jesus, no matter where they come from or what their story is. From Jerusalem to a quiet desert road, the Spirit of God is still at work, leading people into truth and new life. On a hot, empty road between Jerusalem and Gaza, Philip is sent by an angel of the Lord to a place that seems quiet and far away. At the same time, an Ethiopian official is traveling home in his chariot, reading from the book of Isaiah and trying to understand what it means. When Philip runs up beside him, he hears him reading and begins to explain how those words point to Jesus—the One who suffered, died, and rose again. As they travel together, they come to some water, and the eunuch asks to be baptized right away. In that moment, he believes the good news that nothing stands in the way of coming to God through Jesus. And just like that, his life is changed as he goes on his way rejoicing. Scripture: Acts 8:26–40; Isaiah 53; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:14–15; Ephesians 2:13–18 This episode is part of the Sojourner Storycast—a storytelling series for kids, teens, and families that weaves Scripture together to show how God faithfully works through His people to accomplish His perfect plan. Keys to the Kingdom Part 3 - To the Ends of the Earth

In this Sojourner Storycast episode, we explore how the gospel of Jesus breaks through one of the greatest divisions of the ancient world and begins spreading to the Gentiles—the nations beyond Israel. Through the story of Peter and Cornelius, God reveals that His plan of salvation was never meant for one people alone, but for every nation through Jesus Christ. What began as a promise to Abraham is now unfolding before the eyes of the apostles as the kingdom of God continues expanding from Jerusalem, to Judea, to Samaria, and now toward the ends of the earth. In Caesarea, a Roman centurion named Cornelius fears God and prays faithfully, yet as a Gentile he would have been seen as outside the covenant people of Israel. At the same time, God gives Peter a shocking vision of unclean animals and teaches him not to call unclean what God has made clean. When Peter enters Cornelius’s home and preaches the good news about Jesus, the Holy Spirit is poured out upon the Gentiles just as He had been in Jerusalem and Samaria. In this astonishing moment, Peter witnesses the dividing wall between Jew and Gentile beginning to fall as God unites people from every background into one family through faith in Christ. Through Jesus, the kingdom doors are opened wider than anyone imagined, showing that salvation comes not through ceremonial laws or human effort, but through the sovereign grace of God. Scripture: Acts 10:1–48; Acts 11:1–18; Acts 1:8; Matthew 16:19; Ephesians 2:11–22   This episode is part of the Sojourner Storycast—a storytelling series for kids, teens, and families that weaves Scripture together to show how God faithfully works through His people to accomplish His perfect plan. Keys to the Kingdom Part 2 - The Gospel Reaches Samaria

In this Sojourner Storycast episode, we explore how the gospel of Jesus breaks through centuries of division and brings the good news into Samaria, and how God continues to expand His kingdom beyond Jerusalem through the power of the Holy Spirit. After the church is born at Pentecost and persecution breaks out in Jerusalem, believers are scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. What looks like tragedy becomes the very means God uses to spread the message of Jesus farther than anyone expected.   In Samaria, Philip boldly proclaims Christ, and the gospel comes with power—evil spirits are cast out, the sick are healed, and many believe and are baptized, bringing great joy to a place long marked by separation. When Peter and John arrive from Jerusalem, they pray for the new believers, and the Holy Spirit is given to them as well. In this moment, centuries of division begin to be healed as the same Spirit unites both Jews and Samaritans into one family in Christ, revealing that the kingdom of God is opening wider than anyone imagined.   Scripture: Acts 6:1–7; Acts 8:1–17; Acts 8:4–8; Acts 1:8; Matthew 16:19   This episode is part of the Sojourner Storycast—a storytelling series for kids, teens, and families that weaves Scripture together to show how God faithfully works through His people to accomplish His perfect plan. Keys to the Kingdom Part 1 - The Beautiful Gate

In this Sojourner Storycast episode, we explore the story of the healing at the Beautiful Gate and Peter’s bold preaching in Jerusalem, and how God reveals His power to restore and to bring people in. At the temple gate called Beautiful, a man who had been lame from birth sat day after day, unable to walk and living on the outside. He asked for coins just to survive, expecting nothing more.    But when Peter and John met him, everything changed. In the name of Jesus Christ, he was healed—his feet made strong—and for the first time in his life, he walked into the temple, leaping and praising God. What had once been a place of separation became the place where restoration began, showing that what human weakness could not fix, God’s power could make whole.   Not long before this moment, in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the followers of Jesus. Peter stood and preached, and thousands believed and were brought into God’s family. Now, at the Beautiful Gate, we see what that same power looks like in everyday life. The gospel was not only being spoken—it was being seen.    Scripture: Acts 3:1–10; Acts 3:11–26; Acts 4:1–4; Matthew 16:19   This episode is part of the Sojourner Storycast—a storytelling series for kids, teens, and families that weaves Scripture together to show how God faithfully works through His people to accomplish His perfect plan. When Heaven Came Down - The Reversal of Babel at Pentecost

In this Sojourner Storycast episode, we explore the story of the Tower of Babel and the day of Pentecost, and how God reveals His power to scatter and to gather. At Babel, humanity came together to build a great tower in the land of Shinar, seeking to make a name for themselves and reach the heavens apart from God. But the Lord came down, confused their language, and scattered them across the earth. What seemed like human unity quickly turned into confusion and separation, showing that when people turn away from God, even their greatest efforts cannot hold them together.   Thousands of years later, in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost, the disciples of Jesus were gathered together in one place. Suddenly, the Holy Spirit was poured out from heaven. Wind filled the house, and tongues of fire rested on each of them. They began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them, and people from many nations heard the wonders of God in their own tongues. What had been scattered at Babel was now being gathered in Christ—not through human effort, but through the power of God at work through the Holy Spirit.   Scripture: Genesis 11:1–9; Acts 2:1–12; Acts 2:38–39; Ephesians 2:19–22; 1 Corinthians 12:13; 1 Peter 2:5   This episode is part of the Sojourner Storycast—a storytelling series for kids, teens, and families that weaves Scripture together to show how God faithfully works through His people to accomplish His perfect plan. 7. Matthias - The Twelfth Apostle

    Matthias - The Twelfth Apostle

In this Sojourner Storycast episode, we explore the story of Matthias and how God continued building His Church after Judas’ betrayal of Jesus. In the upper room, the disciples gathered in prayer, trusting God to guide them as they sought someone to take Judas’s place among the twelve apostles. Through Scripture, prayer, and casting lots, we see that this was not random chance, but God sovereignly guiding His people to restore the number twelve and show that His plan was still whole and moving forward.   We witness the early believers depending on God, praying, “Lord, You know every heart,” and asking Him to show which man He had chosen. Matthias is selected, not by human decision alone, but by God’s providence, and he is numbered with the eleven apostles. This story reminds us that the apostles were chosen by Jesus as eyewitnesses of His resurrection and foundational leaders of the Church, and that even in uncertainty or loss, God’s plan never fails—He is always building one united people for Himself through Jesus Christ.   Scripture: Acts 1:15–26; Matthew 28:19–20; Luke 6:13; Revelation 21:14; Proverbs 16:33   This episode is part of the Sojourner Storycast—a storytelling series for kids, teens, and families that weaves Scripture together to show how God faithfully works through His people to accomplish His perfect plan. A Tale of Two Covenants - From Sinai to Pentecost

In this episode of the Sojourner Storycast, we explore the story of God’s covenant with His people at Mount Sinai and the promise that is fulfilled in Jesus Christ and Pentecost. At Mount Sinai, God comes down in fire, thunder, and smoke, giving His law written on stone while the people stand far away in fear, revealing His holiness and our need for a Savior.   We witness how the covenant is broken when the people turn to sin and worship a golden calf, yet God shows mercy through Moses the mediator and renews His promise with His people. Through the blood of sacrifices, we see that sin is serious and always requires the giving of life in someone’s place, pointing forward to something greater still to come.   We then see the fulfillment of this promise in Jesus, who establishes a new covenant through His own blood as the final and perfect sacrifice. At Pentecost, God comes down again—not in fear, but in wind and fire—filling His people with the Holy Spirit and writing His law on their hearts.   This story reminds us that from Sinai to Pentecost, God has always been working to bring His people to Himself. In Jesus, the covenant is fulfilled, sin is defeated, and new life is given through the Spirit.   Scripture: Exodus 19–34; Exodus 24:7–8; Jeremiah 31:31–33; Ezekiel 36:26–27; Luke 22:19–20; Acts 2:1–4; Hebrews 9:22; Hebrews 10:10–14; 2 Corinthians 3:6   This episode is part of the Sojourner Storycast—a storytelling series for kids, teens, and families that weaves history and Scripture together to show how God worked through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
