    Ep 28: Look Out for False Teachers!

    Welcome back to the podcast!* In episodes 23, 24, 26, and 27, Amy and I began a discussion of false teachers and false teaching. False teaching is a SERIOUS matter to the church AND to God! Heretical teaching {or false teaching} is teaching that intentionally distorts or contradicts God or the pure gospel as revealed in Scripture. Those who intentionally distort these things are for real called "heretics." We can give specific examples of false teaching and even name false teachers {see Episode 26 & 27} until we're blue in the face. But we want to give you more than that. We desire that you be armed with discernment to recognize them online or in real life! False teachers tend to share common character patterns and behaviors. Mind you, these are not good character qualities or behaviors! In today's episode, we go through nine of these characteristics and behaviors. I'm sure there are more... We also walk through a few more Scriptures to better protect yourself from these wolves in sheep's clothing.     Ep 27: Heresies Against the Gospel

    Welcome back to the Read, Do, & Tell podcast! In episodes 23, 24, and 26, Amy and I (Becky) began a discussion of heresies in the church. Just as a quick reminder, we need to remember that heresy is a SERIOUS matter to the church AND to God! Heretical teaching is teaching that intentionally distorts or contradicts God or the pure gospel as revealed in Scripture. Those who teach heresies are "heretics." In episode 26, we discussed heresies against the one true God. Today, we're going to explore heretical teaching related to the pure gospel of Jesus Christ. We will discuss some common false gospels such as the prosperity gospel as well as call out a few teachers {by name} who teach or at the very least go along with these false gospels. We'll also call out a few false movements/religions that teach a false gospel.     Ep 26: Heresies Against God

    Welcome back to the Read, Do, & Tell podcast! In episodes 23 and 24, we began the discussion of heresies in the church. We need to remember that heresy is a SERIOUS matter to the church AND to God! Heretical teaching is teaching that intentionally distort or contradict God or the pure gospel as revealed in Scripture. Those who teach heresies are "heretics." In episode 24, we discussed that Christians can hold different beliefs about some things, and it isn't considered heretical. Teachings that distort or contradict the nature and character of God ARE, however, heretical. Today, Amy and I tackle the topic of heresies against God. We will briefly go through four of the early councils and creeds of the church fathers to show you these heretical teachings are nothing new. We'll also talk about some modern-day heretical teachings around the nature of God and the Trinity, so buckle up!     Ep 25: Jesus' Early Life & Ministry Bible Reading Plan

    Welcome back to the podcast! Today, we're sharing our next printable Bible reading plan, which is the FIRST of our New Testament plans! It covers the early life of Jesus as a child as well as His early ministry. We're picking up where we left off in Episode 21 in the storyline of the Bible. Not only will we go through the early life of Jesus, but Amy and I talk about the "silent" years between the testaments. It's really cool to see what God was doing in those 400 years. While it's true that no prophets wrote or spoke during this 400-year period, God was anything but silent as He arranged things.  Galatians 4:4-5 reminds us that in the fullness of time, Jesus came born of a woman to redeem those under the law.     Ep 24: What is Heresy?

    Welcome back to the podcast! The term "heresy" is thrown around a lot. Using this term incorrectly has always been an issue in the church. Social media, however, has allowed more people to have platforms and influence.  Often, someone else is called a heretic simply because they believe something that someone else disagrees with. But not all teachings that differ related to Christianity are heretical in nature. This may be a short or a long season of searching for answers. We hope that episode was encouraging to you! Today, we’re spring boarding to a topic that’s very much related. As we search for answers, we must be careful who we read and follow. False teaching and false teachers abound. Some are just a mouse click away! Often, false teachers will take these difficult questions and create their own doctrines or teachings that may seem compelling. False teachers often tug at our heartstrings, appealing to our emotions. We must practice discernment as we search for answers, especially as AI becomes more and more common! Today, however, we have a different kind of episode.  This one is a bit more personal, as Amy and I (Becky) share times in our lives when Bible answers didn't come so quickly. There are times when our heart desires answers. Sometimes those answers take YEARS to come. It's possible the answers may never come on this side of Heaven.
