    Primal Force #3 with Ian Anderson

    On this episode Matt and resident minotaur identifier Ian Anderson get stuck on a crazy island and pass the time by sitting around a campfire and regaling one another with tales of 1995's PRIMAL FORCE #3. That's right, after a month off, the Brotherhood of the Prime Ley is back in action! PRIMAL FORCE #3 is where the series really starts to hit its stride with Jack O'Lantern and Red Tornado becoming the lovable comedic duo that the world needs.  Plus, we learn the origins of most of our team.  Oh, and the team fights a minotaur.  It's awesome! Honestly, this would be the most on topic episode of Chromium yet IF Matt didn't derail things by asking if dogs get headaches and then if Matt's son didn't shatter a glass cup upstairs in the middle of the recording (you better believe it's all in the episode!).     Halloween II: The Blackest Eyes with Sebastian O'Brien

    On this final spoooooooky season episode Matt tricks fellow HALLOWEEN superfan Sebastian O'Brien (host of TENTPOLE TRAUMA) into reading and talking about a comic that is most definitely no treat, 2001's HALLOWEEN II: THE BLACKEST EYES. That's right, Chaos Comics stab' (sorry/not sorry) at the HALLOWEEN franchise and the chaotic podcast DOES THIS COME IN CHROMIUM are together again for the first (and assuredly FINAL) time! Last time we learned a lot about how Dr. Sam Loomis tried to reach young Michael Myers while simultaneously meeting and falling in love with a beautiful woman, only for both relationships to end in tragedy.  So obviously for this second issue we are going to learn more about another, equally signifcant to the franchise character right?   Well, if you've ever wondered what happened to the little boy that ran into Michael outside of Haddonfield Elementary School early in the first movie then wow are you in luck!  Upwards of a third of this comic is all about him as an adult.  Then the comic decides to go another direction.  Is it a better direction?  Worse?  Who can really say? Two people that definitely cannot say are Matt and Sebastian.  In fact, they can barely understand anything that happens in the comic - but it sure is an actual treat listening to them puzzle it out!     Wildstorm Chamber of Horrors #1 with Glitch

    On this episode Matt and spooooky guest co-host Glitch decide they are too cool to attend the Halloween party at the Smithsonian so they steal a bunch of snacks and hide out in a backroom where they talk about 1995's WILDSTORM CHAMBER OF HORRORS #1. This is one of those episodes where the less said about it in the show notes the better.  You just have to experience it (and the inevitable resulting madness that should clear up in 3-4 days). But if you need a tease of what's discussed in the episode, here you go: a brief history of the Wildstorm Universe, graveside ponytail etiquette, Mighty Max, the fact that there were a shit ton of witches in Salem (according to this comic), the Polish ALIEN board game, Tim Robbins playing Warblade in a movie, who is the ultimate Pumpking (yes, that is pump and king as one word), a weird barely remembered Nickelodeon cartoon about fables, All Saint's Day traffic jams in Poland, and oh so much more. Plus, one story contained in the CHAMBER OF HORRORS is absolute perfection and much time is spent relishing it.     The Rocky Horror Picture Show The Comic Book #1 with Wick

    On this episode Matt and special guest co-host/Matt's podcasting nemesis Wick probably do "The Time Warp" while watching a "Science Fiction/Double Feature" before finally getting around to talking about 1990's THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW THE COMIC BOOK #1. First and foremost, Matt has a confession -- he's never seen THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.  He wanted to.  He even tried to.  But then a soul crushing social situation in high school happened and Matt has never been able to seriously consider watching it ever again (does he change his mind by the end of this episode?  You have to listen and find out!) But don't worry dear listeners, Wick has not only seen THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, it's been a huge part of his life both as a member of the audience and a participant in the show (he even interviewed THE Barry Bostwick on stage in front of a live audience). So as per usual, Matt has brought ignorance and his guest has brought expertise.  It's basically the Chromium way. Of course, since this is a comic book adaptation of a beloved movie, you are probably asking, "Does it do a good job capturing the feel of the movie?"  The short answer is: HAHA!  The long answer is: listen to the dang episode and stop expecting the show notes to do all of the work!     Lobo/Demon: Helloween with Eric Shonborn

    On this episode Matt and fellow trick or treating enthusiast Eric Shonborn spend Halloween on the moon talking about 1996's LOBO/DEMON: HELLOWEEN. With spooooooooky season hitting the halfway point it was about dang time that Matt enjoyed a comic being covered on the show.  And boy oh boy, Matt indeed LOVES this comic.  It's about The Demon tricking Lobo to do a job for him on the moon and eventually they both have to fight a world devouring dragon because it wants to eat them instead of Earth.  It's a blast!   So naturally Eric doesn't like it.  Fun is not his favorite.  But he does come around to enjoying the comic a little more after being hounded relentlessly by Matt.  Matt is the fun police.  The good kind. Plus, Eric warns of the peril posed by bringing Lobo to an open bar.  He also wonders why people expect stories to justify their own existence?     Night of the Living Dead: Zombie Genesis #1 with Frank Pittarese

    On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Frank Pittarese quickly come to the realization that they would rather face down an army of the undead than talk about 1994's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ZOMBIE GENESIS #1. Technically this is a comic "based on" Matt's second favorite movie of all time, 1968's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.  But honestly, associating this comic with the movie at all is a gigantic insult to the movie.  If anything, this comic is more of a BAYWATCH "parody", which is not something one would expect when picking up a comic called NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Look, it's a really terrible, no good, horrendous, painful, downright awful comic - so Matt and Frank do their best to avoid talking about it, like the way you avoid making direct eye contact with a crazy person. Instead, Matt talks at length (big surprise there) about how and why NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD became such a significant part of his life, while Frank puts his years of editorial experience to use and explains to the listening audience what it takes to put together a successful comic based on a licensed property (spoiler alert: Frank wants all of you aspiring creators to do nothing that the creators of this "comic" did). Oh, and this comic isn't called NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ZOMBIE GENESIS, it's just NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD - but Matt finds that offensive on levels heretofore unknown, so he's added ZOMBIE GENESIS to the title.  It doesn't make the comic better, but it does further separate it from the movie, and today that counts as a win.     A Conversation with JD McGibney from Angels on the Battlefield

    On this extra special episode Matt has the honor of sitting down with JD McGibney (guitarist/composer from ANGELS ON THE BATTLEFIELD) for an incredible conversation that was supposed to be all about nerdy interests and how awesome JD's hair is, but instead evolves into a sometimes funny, often times moving discussion about mental health struggles and the work it takes to find peace within yourself. Regular listeners to Does This Come in Chromium will love getting to know JD.  From the first moments of the episode, he reveals himself to truly be one of the nicest and most thoughtful people in the world (who also just so happens to be an extraordinarily talented guitar player and composer).  With his band, ANGELS ON THE BATTLEFIELD, JD has not only found a vehicle to express the ups and downs of his own battles with anxiety and depression, but he's also striving to help others by empowering them to look within and find their strength to face the battles in their lives with courage.     Halloween #1 with Bobby Trippett

    On this episode Matt and the man responsible for teaching Michael Myers to drive, Bobby Trippett (co-host of the GRINDBIN PODCAST) hide in some bushes and yell at that little jerk Lonnie to get his ass away from the show so they can discuss 2000's HALLOWEEN #1. This is a comic based on Matt's all-time favorite movie, which means Bobby is as good as confined to Smith's Grove Sanitarium, forced to listen to near endless rantings of a lunatic, "Bobby, I watched the movie SIX TIMES (today)!" Bobby displays the patience of a man who is staring at a wall, not seeing the wall, looking past the wall to a time when Matt has finished attempting to create a verbal visual aid to help listeners better understand the different Halloween timelines.  It goes about as well as one would expect from Matt.
