    Presentation Dynamics - Episode 2

Preparation Is the Confidence Multiplier | Presentation Dynamics – Episode 2 What looks like confidence during a presentation is often the result of everything that happened before the presenter ever entered the room. In Episode 2 of Presentation Dynamics, Jeff Mildon explores why preparation is one of the most important factors in presentation success. Drawing on more than three decades of sales presentation and software demonstration experience, Jeff explains how discovery, audience knowledge, rehearsal, equipment preparation, backup planning, and repeated refinement allow presenters to become more confident and adaptable. But preparation isn't just about practicing your presentation until you know it. Jeff explains why presentations should be workshopped, much like a stand-up comedian develops a routine. You put the material in front of people, watch what works, listen to feedback, remove what doesn't work, add better material, adjust the timing, and try it again. Jeff shares the story of conducting five onsite presentations with his team in Arizona in a single day. After each presentation, the team used the drive to the next location to evaluate what had worked, make changes, and customize the presentation for the next audience. By the fifth presentation, they weren't simply repeating what they had done that morning. They had made the presentation better. You'll also learn why preparation doesn't end when the presentation does. Every audience, question, reaction, mistake, and successful moment provides information you can use to improve the next presentation. The goal isn't to memorize a perfect script. It's to become familiar enough with your material, audience, technology, and presentation environment that you have the mental bandwidth to listen, adapt, and communicate naturally. In this episode: Why preparation creates confidence How discovery should shape your presentation Preparing your technology, equipment, and backup plans Practicing for familiarity rather than memorization How to workshop a presentation with a real audience What presenters can learn from stand-up comedians Using feedback to tighten content and timing Preparing for technology and presentation failures Why preparation continues after the presentation How repeated improvement makes both the presentation and presenter stronger Coming next: Your Demo Isn't Boring. It's Exhausting. We'll explore cognitive load and why even interested buyers can disengage when a software demonstration asks them to process too much information. Presentation Dynamics is where sales, psychology, and performance collide. Hosted by Jeff Mildon

    The Evolution of Sales Presentations

Episode 1: The Evolution of Sales Presentations What makes a sales presentation truly effective today—and how did we get here? In this debut episode of Presentation Dynamics, host Jeff Mildon takes you on a journey through the past 30+ years of sales presentations—from flip charts and overhead projectors to PowerPoint, virtual selling, and the emerging era of neural persuasion. Drawing on decades of real-world experience and more than 15,000 presentations, Jeff breaks down how each era reshaped the way buyers think, engage, and make decisions—and why most presentations today still fail to align with how the brain actually works. You'll discover: Why presentations in the 1990s were slower—but often more effective How PowerPoint created the illusion of great presenting What changed when buyers gained access to unlimited information Why demo-heavy selling overwhelmed modern audiences The hidden challenges of virtual presentations and Zoom fatigue What "neural persuasion" is—and why it's the future of selling This episode isn't just history—it's a blueprint. Because once you understand how presentations evolved, you start to understand how buyers think… and how to design presentations they actually remember.
