#066a: Special Episode: Waxing Poetic with Peter about Lyrik-Uni! (Slovene)

Welcome—or rather dobrodošli—to this new episode of the podcast, for the first time in Slovene! Today’s guest Peter Svetina from the Slavistics Department kicks off our series of multilingual interviews in connection with the Lyrik Uni. Join us to listen to Peter’s musings about the poetry that has been there from his early childhood onwards, the different roles of formal and free verse poetry, and how reading poetry might literally make you a healthier person. Dive into the world of Slavic poetry or, if you don’t speak Slovene, just listen to the melodic sounds of a new language. Also, keep your ears peeled for more poetry-related content yet tto come! #068: Samhain Gamgee, or A Tale of Celtic-inspired Lore with Julian

A podcast recording with Julian Mullen from the McMullen's Irish Pub does not disappoint--expect a good amount of impertinence (in the best way possible) and a lot of Irish kindness, especially for the spooky season celebrating Samhain (in the night from October 31 to November 1) and Halloween (October 31). Delve into an episode full of old traditions, modern customs, and the story of Stingy Jack to learn about how turnips turned into pumpkins and how Krampus in Austria fits in with Samhain. Julian reminisces about the good old days and hopes that creativity abounds among those celebrating Halloween (as was the case when he was a lad). So grab your pumpkin spice latte, turn on the sewing machines, and let us know which costume you are preparing for Halloween while listening to the episode! Contact us at rockmyworldsofenglish@aau.at to share ideas, volunteer for an interview, or let us know about your favourite traditions for this time of the year. Check out McMullen's Irish Pub, especially the events page for the pubs in Klagenfurt & Villach. The Halloween parties @ McMullen's in Villach and Klagenfurt both take place on October 31st starting around 18:00. We noticed that the workshop for pumpkin carving @ Indie Café was scheduled before the episode aired, but they have now added another date: October 30, 4pm. Check out Indie's Instagram (@indiecafe.at) for further events you might be interested in! Tamara Urach, host Julian Mullen, guest
