    30. The Impacts of AI on your Small Business with Gail Fraser

In this episode of Chronically Cozy Business Chats, I talked to Gail Fraser, CEO of Work Simple. She is a systems strategist and self-proclaimed Operations Fairy Godmother, helping creative service providers and wedding professionals implement and optimize systems for their business. More recently she has become known as the Anti AI Systems Strategist as she’s integrated her stance on AI generated content into her brand.  This has become a highly discussed and controversial topic these days, and it is especially important to the chronically ill, disabled and neurodivergent community, since we are disproportionally more affected by its integration into our life. Gail and I talk about the various negative effects of AI, including its impact on the environment, our careers, and even the language we use. While AI has given us a lot of great tools that have made life more accessible, it’s also stolen from and corrupted several systems, threatening to end the world sooner than I think anyone expects.  Get Cozy With My Guest:  Gail Fraser, CEO of Work Simple is an anti-AI systems expert. She helps creative service providers and wedding professionals implement and optimize systems for their business,  set up their first CRM or switch CRMs, and set up their first project management tools. She works with programs like Dubsado, HoneyBook, and ClickUp, while avoiding the AI tools, and creating workflows that make it easy without it.  You can find her on Instagram and Threads @worksimple.io, and listen to her podcast @WhereIsYourHumanityPod on Instagram and "Where's Your Humanity?" anywhere you listen to podcasts. 29. Delegating as a Neurodivergent Entrepreneur with Salome Savage

In this episode of Cozy Chats, I talked to Salome Savage, owner of the Prismatic Heart Agency, for a deep dive into the when, why and how of delegation. For many neurodivergent and chronically ill entrepreneurs, the traditional "corporate" way of running a business, strict scheduling, constant availability, and neurotypical productivity standards, leads to burnout and resentment.  Key Topics The Signs You Need to Delegate: Moving beyond burnout and into the warning signs like resentment and "masking" to cope with your workload.Dismantling Neurotypical Systems: Why rigid scheduling and time-blocking often fail neurodivergent brains, and how to create "fatigue-friendly" alternatives. The Communication Menu: How setting clear, explicit boundaries around communication (like voice notes vs. emails or specific office hours) can prevent overwhelm for both you and your team.Building for Your "Worst" Days: Why systems and delegation should be designed to support you on your low-energy days, not just your high-capacity ones.Compassionate Delegation: Finding partners, VAs, or OBMs who understand that your business is an extension of you and doesn't need to conform to corporate expectations of "professionalism". 28. The Secrets To Running a Business with AuDHD with Erica Settino

In this episode I sat down with the incredible Erica Settino, an author, artist, activist, and a late-diagnosed AuDHDer, just like me. We peeled back the layers on what it actually looks like to build a business when you’re neurodivergent! We got real about the absolute exhaustion of trying to navigate traditional workspaces while masking our way through the day, and why so many of us eventually decide to burn it all down and build something for ourselves instead. Why we  don’t fit well in traditional workspaces  The constant pressure to socialize and engage in small talk Traditional work environments expect employees to show up at the same level of productivity every dayStandard office environments are full of sensory triggers and stressors How to adapt your businesses to fit our Audhd  Move away from strict schedules, time-blocking, or themed days that don't account for natural fluctuations in your energy or interest. Shift your mindset to recognize that fluctuating capacity does not equate to a lack of ability.Accept that your energy levels will shift and build in rest periods accordingly. Use Analog Systems. If digital alerts create unnecessary mental clutter and stress, try using a physical pen and paper to organize tasks. Adapt Low Urgency communication methods and asynchronous communication methods like email or text, allowing you to respond when you have the capacity rather than immediately.Or Create "Low-Interaction" RolesAcknowledge that the friction you feel is real and valid. Get Cozy with Erica Settino Erica Settino is an author, artist, activist, and witch whose work is rooted in creative expression, interconnection, and collective liberation. A late-diagnosed AuDHDer, Erica’s unique perspective is deeply connected to patterns, kinship, and the "living threads" that bind us to one another, all living beings, and the natural world. 26. How Pets Help Our Mental Health While Working From Home with The Canine Detective

In this episode I talked to fellow dog mom, Kirsten "K" Matthews, a virtual dog trainer known as "The Canine Detective." In this conversation, we discuss all the benefits of having a dog while working from home, and how our pets can help our mental health. We also talk about how to care for pets while managing chronic illness and neurodivergence, breaking down the myths of hustle-culture-style pet ownership and offering realistic, low-spoon strategies for dog care. Key TakeawaysTraining your dog online is more effective because it allows you to work in your own home environmentHaving a pet while living with chronic illness or neurodivergence is not irresponsible. For many neurodivergent folk, the needs of a pet provide a vital "anchor" to a routine. When low energy levels make long walks difficult, prioritize mental stimulation over physical exhaustion. Caregiver burnout is real for pet owners. Get Cozy With Kirsten "K" Matthews Kirsten Matthews, known online as "The Canine Detective," is a solo-practitioner virtual dog trainer. In this episode, I am joined by Avery Roberts and Kelly Berger, the hosts of the Wheel Talk podcast. 24. Finding the Audacity to Build a Business That Fits Your Life with Sarah Householder

In this episode of Cozy Chats, Sarah Householder (The Witty Ladybug) and I tear down the 'hustle culture' myth and get into why you need to channel the 'audacity of a mediocre white man' to override imposter syndrome.  Key TakeawaysWhen imposter syndrome hits, adopt the "audacity of a mediocre white man." If traditional advice like "post every day," or rigid business plans doesn't work for your brain or body, it’s not because you’re failing. You cannot rely on constant, high-energy output. You Need Sustainable Systems. Your brand should be specific enough to repel people who don’t "get" you. Waiting for perfection is just a way to delay starting. Forget the formal business plans unless you are seeking funding. Entrepreneurship is isolating, but it doesn't have to be. About the Cozy Creator Sarah Householder is the founder of The Witty Ladybug, a shop built on the premise that you can—and should—navigate chronic illness and late-stage capitalism with a sense of humor. Three years after her own health took a sharp turn, Sarah ditched the traditional "hustle culture" myth to build a business that actually respects the reality of fluctuating capacity.
