    The Journo and the Muso: Episode 6 - Goodbye Dolly

    My relationship with the music of Dolly was one of constant retractions of first impressions, and not being one to shy away from my own failures of judgement I figured a documentation of how the music of Dolly Parton always managed to catch up to me and show me my ignorance was as good a tribute as any. Thankfully Nikki is far more researched than I am in the life and times of Dolly, and we are extra lucky to be joined by Georgie for a trained singers perspective. We of course could not also go without mentioning Tim Curry, so Simon jumps in with his tributes and again I throw myself under the bus and admit to having never seen Rocky Horror... much to everyone's chagrin. Rest in peace Dolly and Tim - we will always love you. Dolly’s whole discography is located here. She was a well documented philanthropist and I’m sure her family will continue that legacy.     The Journo and the Muso: Episode 5 - Music Vs Sport

    In a country where sport is paramount to religion I get the s***s everytime I see the MCG packed out with 60k punters to watch a ball bounce back and forth while top notch local bands struggle to get 100 crew to a gig. I have a good old whinge and go full Trump, suggesting that we ban sport completely before Simon jumps in and tells me to "suck it up". Nikki as always plays the graceful mediator. Also I totally misuse the term egalitarianism, show my complete ignorance of economics and get bourgeies and prollies confused, and maybe - just maybe I might be bitter because I always sucked at sport anyway.     We make awesome music and musicians in Australia, yet it seems to get constantly drowned out by the footy scores. Nikki and I go through some of our favourite Aussie musos that don’t get half the kudos that they deserve and Georgie makes the mistake of coming home in time to get a microphone thrown in front of her for her reccy’s as well.     The Journo and the Muso: Episode 3 - AI

    Nikki stumbled across an AI generated soul cover of "Without Me" by Eminem and was disgusted at herself for liking it, so we listened to Sam Cooke to make it better. Nikki expresses her concern that AI generated slop will rob hardworking muso's of recognition and recompense, and I am mildly optimistic that it could possibly lead to a greater appreciation of real human driven creativity. To prove my point, I play her something by Clown Core... Spoiler alert... She hates it!     The Journo and the Muso: Episode 1 - Christmas Songs

    Harry introduces Nicole to "Whamageddon" and misinterprets the meaning of the song title "Blue Christmas". Nicole goads Harry into performing his own "Christmas" song, and then points out that it's a tenuous attempt at a Christmas song at best and suggests that Harry is only trying to market it as a Christmas song in order to make money... to which he openly admits.
