TeenSS, Doctrine Matters, The Holy Spirit

Recorded Live, August 9, 2026 Notes: Incomplete Instruction, Acts 19;1-7 They were not ignorant They were called disciples Their problem was incomplete instruction We understand the Holy Spirit through the Word of God, not through assumptions, traditions, or experiences When do I receive the Holy Spirit? At the moment of salvation; Rom. 8:9, 1 Cor. 12:13 We’re Indwelled- 1 Cor. 6:19 He seals us- Eph. 1:13-14 He abides with us forever- John 14:16 We don’t work for Him, He’s given to us and dwells in us forever Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is God Co-equal and Eternal (Heb. 9:14) Omnipresent-everywhere (ps. 139:7) Omniscient- all knowing (1 Cor. 2:10-11) Omnipresent- all powerful (Lk. 1:35) What does the Holy Spirit do? Convicts (Jn. 16:8) Regenerates (Tit. 3:5) Indwells (1 Cor. 6:19) Seals (Eph. 1:13-14) Baptizes us in the Body of Christ (Jn. 16:13) Teaches (Jn 14:26) Guides (Jn. 16:13) Helps us Pray (Rom. 8:26) Helps us understand the Bible (1Cor. 2:12-14) Empowers us to serve God (Acts 1:8) What does “Filled with the Spirit” look like? Eph. 5:18, “…be filled with the Spirit” If you’re saved, you have the Holy Spirit The question is whether or not you’re surrendered to Him The Spirit Filled Life is… Christ Centered- Always pointing to Christ not self (Jn. 16:14) Obedient- (Rom. 8;14, Gal. 5:16) It’s more than feeling something, it’s about obeying Someone Scripture Led- (Jn. 14:26, 16:13) The Holy Spirit will never contradict the Word He Inspired The Fruit of the Spirit The evidence of the Holy Spirit is not just one moment. It’s what the Spirit produces over time Galatians 5:22-23 Fruit may grow quietly, but it’s also undeniable The Test of the Spirit Filled Life Not, “Did people notice me?” But “Does my life point people to Christ?” Not experiences but Fruit Not emotion but obedience The Holy Spirit indwells us not to make us look more spiritual, but to make us more like Christ
