28 - Popsicles, Summer Pressure, and Living Your Best Summer

Summer can feel magical... and surprisingly stressful at times. This week we're talking about everything from popsicles, movie nights, swim lesson disasters, and expensive ice cream runs to the pressure parents often feel to create the "perfect" summer for their kids. We share why one of Patty's boys still remembers unloading hay with the family more than all the vacations, and why sometimes the memories that matter most are the simplest ones. Then we dive into each of the nine Enneagram types and explore what a healthier, more life-giving summer might look like for each personality. Whether you're a Helper learning to receive, an Achiever learning to slow down, or an Enthusiast learning that enough really can be enough, we hope this conversation helps you embrace the season God has given you. We wrap up with one of our favorite book recommendations, Theo of Golden, and why its message of kindness, generosity, and truly seeing people has stayed with us long after finishing the last page. If summer has started to feel more like pressure than joy, this episode is your reminder that maybe the best memories aren't the expensive ones—they're the ordinary moments shared with the people you love most.  Bible / Faith ReferencesAlthough this episode isn't centered on one passage, these themes came up:  God's gifts are already present in ordinary life.  Rest and presence instead of striving.  Living fully as the person God created you to be.  Seeing people as they truly are.  Ordinary acts of kindness can change lives.

    27 - We're Back! A Little Rusty and a Conversation About Discipleship

After accidentally exporting an entire episode with no audio, a power outage, and an unexpected week off, we're finally back behind the microphones! This week starts with a catch-up on Patty's trip to Park City to meet her new nephew (Harry V!), help a family adjusting to life with a newborn, and learn the proper etiquette for Spanish olives at a dinner party. Amy shares life at home while the kids were away and the challenge of letting go as a mom. The conversation then shifts into something much deeper: discipleship. What does it actually mean to follow Jesus in everyday life? We talk honestly about seasons of feeling like a "lukewarm Christian," the fear of talking about our faith, and why discipleship is often less about having the perfect words and more about loving people well. We also discuss how God doesn't ask for perfection, only our willingness to keep coming back to Him, the beauty of serving quietly without recognition, and how small acts of kindness can become opportunities to reflect Christ to others. If you've ever felt intimidated by sharing your faith or wondered if you're "doing enough," this conversation is a reminder that following Jesus often begins with simply noticing people, loving them well, and faithfully showing up where God has placed you. Bible verses referenced: 1 John 4:11-12 "Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us." Revelation 3:15-16 "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Matthew 6:3-4 "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

26 - Main Character Energy? Spoiler Alert: It's Not About You

This week is part summer catch-up, part favorite things, and part reminder that maybe... not everything is about us. We chat about summer weather, self-tanner recommendations, linen pants, jean shorts, Nuuly clothing rentals, and finding confidence in your style as you get older. We also share what we're loving lately, including Nourish Move Love workouts, strength training, and an inspiring audiobook about choosing joy, resilience, and seeing the good in others. The conversation then shifts into a deeper discussion about "main character energy," the Invisible Guest Theory, and how often we assume other people's actions, moods, or responses are somehow about us. We talk about anxiety, overthinking, being easily offended, and the freedom that comes from realizing most people are simply living their own stories. Through personal stories, practical examples, and biblical perspective, we explore what it looks like to focus less on people's opinions and more on God's purpose, reminding themselves that the goal isn't to be famous in our own story, but faithful in God's story. Bible verse referenced: Galatians 1:10 "Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?"  Favorite things mentioned:  Nourish Move Love Summer Program: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBx-Yako6FA&list=PLpa0d6IJAhbhviSc6nuij9hlwhXjCDdh2Audiobook: Don't Call It a Comeback - by Keira D'Amato https://open.spotify.com/show/3N46TkxMIS1OGMxEr5R5Gd?si=b5193bcec3154d27Nuuly: https://share.nuuly.com/patty895

23 - The One About Worry…Spoiler Alert: Most of It Never Happens

This week’s episode is a little life catch-up, a little church reflection, and a whole lot of talking ourselves through worry. Patty shares what spring planting season looks like on the farm right now, including Drive Your Tractor to School Day, growing boys, and the bittersweet reality of watching your kids become independent. Amy opens up about making a big childcare transition for next year and the mental spiral that can come with motherhood changes and wanting your kids to be okay.  The conversation turns into an honest chat about anxiety, overthinking, and how easy it is to replay fears in our minds. We talk about practical ways to try to fight worry, from writing things down and interrupting anxious thoughts to leaning into prayer, truth, and trusting that God has always provided before and will again.  There’s also discussion around parenting older kids, letting go a little at a time, protecting your peace, and remembering that most of what we worry about never actually happens anyway. Bible Verses mentioned: Philippians 4:6-7: Paul tells believers not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation to bring requests to God through prayer and thanksgiving. The promise that follows is that God's peace, which surpasses understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." Paul is encouraging Timothy not to shrink back in timidity. Matthew 6: It's part of the Sermon on the Mount and covers a lot of ground: giving to the needy, the Lord's Prayer (verses 9-13), fasting, storing up treasures in heaven rather than on earth, not being able to serve both God and money, and the famous "do not worry" passage (verses 25-34) about the birds of the air and the lilies of the field — ending with "seek first the kingdom of God." Romans 8:5-6: Paul contrasts two ways of living: those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires, while those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. "The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace."
