He has established himself as one of the most prolific and visionary voices in contemporary jazz and global music, continually pushing the boundaries of how traditional sounds and modern ideas collide. Notable Milestones Day to Day (2016): His critically acclaimed debut on Ninja Tune, featuring stunning field recordings of the Afro-Indian Sidi community of Gujarat blended with contemporary jazz. More Arriving (2019): An incisive, award-winning protest record highlighting rappers from Mumbai and New Delhi alongside London's diaspora poets, securing MOJO's Jazz Album of the Year. KALAK (2022): A polyrhythmic masterpiece exploring Indo-futurism, celebrated for its stand-out single "Utopia Is A Colonial Project." There Is Beauty, There Already (2025): His latest release, a meditative, continuous 40-minute percussion suite recorded in a raw four-day session at Real World Studios. It shifts away from literal spoken-word narratives to let the profound, emotional voice of the drums take center stage. Collaborator & Producer: Beyond leading the UPAJ Collective, Sarathy is a close collaborator with heavyweights like Shabaka Hutchings, Alabaster DePlume, and Photay. He also co-produced and co-wrote Anoushka Shankar's Grammy-nominated album Chapter III: Return to Light.
