The Birth Breakdown: Answering Your Questions- 1st Trimester Edition

In this special personal Q&A episode of Her Birth, Her Story, Brooke is answering questions submitted by you! Instead of a traditional birth story or Birth Breakdown, this episode is a look into Brooke’s own first trimester of pregnancy — what she experienced, what surprised her, what she was thinking through, and some of the choices and questions that came up along the way. Brooke is hoping to make these personal pregnancy Q&As a recurring part of the podcast throughout each trimester and even into postpartum, creating more space for honest conversations about pregnancy, birth, motherhood, and everything in between. This isn’t about telling you what you should do in your own pregnancy. It’s simply one mom sharing her experience, what she’s learning, and the questions she’s asking along the way. Tune in for a more personal episode of Her Birth, Her Story and come along for the journey! Not medical advice, just encouragement to do your own research and have TRUE informed consent 🙂 Weekly interview episodes released every Tuesday at 8:00pm EST Weekly minisodes released every Thursday at 12:00pm EST Want to empower other women through YOUR story? Two C-Sections, One Redemptive Birth Story- Advocating For Yourself with Bre

Two C-sections. Two very different birth experiences. One powerful story of advocacy, healing, and finding the right OB. In this episode of Her Birth, Her Story, we hear how this mom’s second C-section became a much more redemptive birth experience after her first. After her first C-section, she entered her second pregnancy determined to advocate for herself, ask questions, and find an OB she could genuinely trust. This time, she felt heard, supported, and empowered throughout her pregnancy and birth. We talk about repeat C-sections, birth advocacy, informed decision-making, finding a supportive OB, and what it means to have an empowering birth—regardless of how you choose to birth. Her story is a beautiful reminder that an empowered birth isn’t defined by whether you have a vaginal birth or a C-section. It’s about feeling informed, respected, supported, and confident in your choices. Your voice matters. Your questions matter. And the provider you choose matters. 🤍 Her Birth, Her Story — Reclaiming birth one story at a time. As a reminder: These are real experiences that this mom walked out, not to be taken as medical advice or a way that YOU HAVE to think. We enjoy hearing many different perspectives as we empower women and reclaim birth and our God-given intuition :) If you’d like to connect Bre, follow her on Instagram @b.keesee  Episodes released every Tuesday at 8:00pm EST Weekly minisodes released every Thursday at 12:00pm EST Come join us over on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook: @HerBirthHerStory

The Birth Breakdown: Stop Being Afraid of Food in Pregnancy: Ask Better Questions

Are you pregnant and overwhelmed by the giant list of foods you’re told not to eat? In this episode of The Birth Breakdown, we’re talking about pregnancy food recommendations—and why they don’t have to be approached from a place of fear. There are so many foods and drinks that pregnant women are told to avoid: coffee, seafood, certain cheeses, raw milk, and so much more. But instead of simply accepting a list of “yes” and “no” foods, what if we started asking more questions? What does the research actually say? What is the quality of the food? How was it sourced, stored, prepared, or processed? And what information do you need to make a decision you feel confident about? In this minisode, I share my perspective on doing your own research, looking beyond blanket recommendations, and prioritizing high-quality food and safe preparation—without allowing fear to consume your pregnancy. This is not me telling you what you should or shouldn’t eat during pregnancy. My encouragement is simply this: ask questions, look at the research, consider the quality, and make informed choices that you feel comfortable and confident with. You don’t have to navigate pregnancy food choices from a place of fear. You can be informed, thoughtful, and confident in the decisions you make for yourself and your baby. This is your birth. Your body. Your baby. Your story. As always, this episode is for educational purposes and is not medical advice. Talk with your own qualified healthcare provider about your individual circumstances. Not medical advice, just encouragement to do your own research and have TRUE informed consent 🙂 Weekly interview episodes released every Tuesday at 8:00pm EST Weekly minisodes released every Thursday at 12:00pm EST Want to empower other women through YOUR story? The Birth Breakdown: Dating Ultrasound- More Than Just Dating Your Pregnancy

A first-trimester dating ultrasound is about more than just finding out how far along you are. 🤍 In this episode of The Birth Breakdown, we’re talking about what else may be looked at during an early ultrasound and, more importantly, questions you can ask your provider so you can better understand what’s happening in your pregnancy. I’m sharing several questions you can bring with you to your appointment to help you feel informed, prepared, and more at peace. Because asking questions doesn’t make you difficult. It makes you an engaged participant in your care. You deserve to understand what’s happening with your body and your baby—and you deserve peace of mind throughout your pregnancy. ✨ Take this as encouragement to walk into your next appointment with questions, trust your intuition, and remember that you have a voice in your pregnancy care. Three Pregnancies, Three Inductions & Cholestasis with Destiny

In this episode of Her Birth, Her Story, we’re talking about three hospital births, three experiences with cholestasis of pregnancy, and the journey of learning how to advocate for yourself and your baby. Our guest shares her experience with cholestasis—a pregnancy-related liver condition that can cause intense itching and requires careful monitoring because of potential risks to both mom and baby. She opens up about being diagnosed during each of her pregnancies, how her care was managed, and how each of her inductions looked different. She also shares honestly about prenatal anxiety and depression during her third pregnancy, and how those experiences shaped her emotionally. Now a doula herself, she explains why she chose this path and offers practical encouragement for pregnant moms about building a support system, preparing for birth, asking questions, and making sure their voices are heard throughout pregnancy and birth. If you’re pregnant, preparing for an induction, navigating cholestasis, or simply wanting to feel more informed and supported in your birth, this episode is for you. 🤍 This is your birth. Your body. Your baby. Your story. As a reminder: These are real experiences that this mom walked out, not to be taken as medical advice or a way that YOU HAVE to think.
