Because the truth is… clients don’t just stay because you’re good at what you do. They stay because of how you make them feel. From the moment they message you, to the way you greet them, the energy you bring into the room, and the experience you create - every single touch point matters. In this episode, I talk about: Why first impressions start from your messages (and how slow replies can cost you clients)How your energy can make or break a client’s experienceWhy clients should leave feeling uplifted -  not drainedThe importance of consultations and making clients feel truly listened toWhat your workspace says about your professionalism (even if you don’t realise it)Why comfort during treatments matters more than you thinkThe truth about retention vs client experienceWhy you should never let your effort slip with regular clientsI also share real experiences - both as a business owner and as a client -  to show you exactly what makes people stay… and what makes them leave. Burnout doesn’t just affect your mind - it can show up in your body too. In this powerful episode, I sit down with business coach Marissa, who shares her personal experience with severe burnout that led to physical symptoms including painful eczema, lack of sleep, and being signed off work. After working 60+ hour weeks without boundaries, her body reached its limit. What happened next changed everything. Once she began setting boundaries in her business and listening to what her body was telling her, she started to heal from the inside out. This conversation felt especially close to home for me, as I’ve been experiencing my own skin rashes and hearing Marissa’s story made me realise how much our bodies can reflect what’s going on internally. ✨ FREE WORKSHEET: Marissa has created a powerful worksheet to help you recognise the signs of burnout, protect your boundaries, let go of fear, and use clear boundary-setting language in your business. She is sharing her personal experience with burnout and what she has learned through her own journey. This episode is incredibly real and relatable  - especially if you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure in your business. ✨ In this episode, we cover: • Burnout symptoms (mental, emotional & physical) • How burnout can manifest in the body (including skin conditions) • How to overcome burnout and prevent it from happening again • How to recogonise the signs of burnout • Setting boundaries in your business (without guilt) • Imposter syndrome and why it isn’t logical • Understanding your gut instinct vs imposter syndrome  • Nervous system awareness and what your body is telling you • How to come from a place of ‘how can I’ • Building confidence in your business • Visualising your goals and stepping into the next level • Knowing your numbers and creating real change If you’re feeling burnt out, stuck, or disconnected from your business this episode will help you understand what’s really going on and how to move forward. Feeling Like You’re Not Enough: Let’s Talk About Imposter Syndrome

Send us a message ✨ This episode is sponsored by London Lash. A brand supporting lash artists with professional products, education, and tools. Enjoy an exclusive listener discount: 20% off with code KARIS20 *T&Cs apply. https://www.londonlashpro.com/?utm_source=podcastsponsorship&utm_medium=videos&utm_campaign=behindthetweezers&utm_content=episode5 In this episode I’m talking about something that I think almost all of us experience at some point… imposter syndrome. I share some of my own experiences with it throughout my career – moments where I genuinely felt like I didn’t belong, where self-doubt felt crippling, and times where I questioned whether I was even good enough to be in the room. Even at conferences where we got photos with people in my industry and I thought “why am I here? I’m not as popular as them.” Perfectionism has played a big role in this for me too. For a long time I felt like I was never doing enough, which probably pushed me to constantly throw myself out of my comfort zone and chase trophies. I also talk about something that has really helped me when those thoughts creep in - something I call “evidence over emotion.” When imposter syndrome shows up, I challenge those thoughts by asking myself what the actual evidence is. Usually I realise that it’s just emotion making me feel that way, not the truth. Even when I was winning awards, the imposter feelings didn’t just disappear. But the more you do the thing you doubt yourself in, the more that inner critic starts to quiet down. I even felt this when I became an educator. I remember telling my mentor that I didn’t even know if I was good enough to teach. I was full of self doubt… but I kept going anyway, and eventually went on to win Best Masterclass of 2025. It was the feedback from students that really helped me realise that maybe I was doing a better job than I thought. If you’ve ever felt like you’re not good enough, like you don’t belong, or like people might question why it’s you… you’re definitely not alone. Most people experience imposter syndrome at some point. Just remember - you’re not here to impress anyone. You’re here to share what you know and do your best. And sometimes your best might only be 50 or 60%, because we’re human and we can’t be at 100% all the time. You are worthy. You are enough. And you can do anything you put your mind to. If you’re someone who is struggling with self doubt, consumed by negative thoughts. This episode is for you.  Thank you for pressing play and joining me! Running a Business Is Easy… Right?

Running a business looks easy from the outside… but once you’re in it, you realise you’re wearing every hat. In this episode, I talk honestly about what it really takes to run your own business - from being the social media manager, accountant, admin, photographer, artist, a mum, a wife,  (and everything in between), to staying disciplined when no one else is holding you accountable. I also talk about the middle phase - the quiet part that no one really talks about. When you first open your business, everyone’s cheering you on. There’s excitement and support everywhere. But then it goes quiet, and suddenly it’s just you, your thoughts, and the work that still needs to be done. This is the phase where a lot of people give up - not because they can’t do it, but because it’s uncomfortable, lonely, and challenging. You might be facing setbacks, slow growth, or self doubt, all while still having to show up. This is normal and you’re not doing anything wrong, it’s all part of the process. Another big part of this episode is social media and comparison. I talk about how easily comparison can creep in without you even realising - leaving you feeling anxious, deflated, stressed, or like you’re not doing enough.  We also dive into why running a business isn’t for everyone - and why that’s okay. The security of employed work, guaranteed income, set holidays, and clocking off at the end of the day is something many people value. But for me? I wouldn’t change this life for the world. I love building something from the ground up. I love that it’s mine. I love knowing I’m not building someone else’s dream - I’m building my own.  In this episode, I talk about: Wearing multiple hats and the pressure that comes with itThe quiet middle phase where motivation is testedWhat consistency actually looks like (and why it doesn’t mean showing up every single day)Discipline, self drive, and personal responsibilityDelegating, asking for help, and outsourcing without guiltSocial media comparison and protecting your energySelf-care, rest, and being kind to yourselfRemembering that you’re still you, not just your businessIf you’re building a business, stuck in the middle phase, or feeling the pressure of comparison, this episode is an honest reminder that you’re not behind - you’re just human. How To Raise Your Prices With Confidence - Even If You’re Scared

Enjoy an exclusive listener discount: 20% off with code KARIS20 *T&Cs apply. https://www.londonlashpro.com/?utm_source=podcastsponsorship&utm_medium=videos&utm_campaign=behindthetweezers&utm_content=episode3 Raising your prices can feel terrifying - not because you don’t know you should, but because you’re convinced that the moment you do, everyone will leave. So you sit with the same prices for years. You overwork. You feel exhausted. You tell yourself you’ll raise them “soon”… and never quite do. I’ve been there. In this episode of Beyond the Tweezers, I’m sharing how I finally raised my prices with confidence after realising I wasn’t even paying myself minimum wage — and why staying underpriced was actually causing more stress and burnout than the price increase ever did. We talk about knowing your numbers, when to raise your prices, how to message clients, dealing with fear and client questions, losing clients (and why that’s expected), and why you shouldn’t treat your job as a hobby - it’s a business. Raising my prices didn’t just change my income - it gave me the space to work on projects like this podcast and future training, instead of being constantly fully booked and exhausted. Being fully booked sounds like the goal, but when you’re not priced correctly, it can quickly lead to burnout. I now work fewer hours, finish at 5pm, only work one Saturday a month, and finally enjoy running my business again. I now have time to spend with my family, friends and work on the projects that I want too. If fear has been stopping you from raising your prices, this episode is for you 🤍 This episode is sponsored by London Lash. Everyone Wants to Be an Educator… Do You Have What It Takes? | Darja Striletskaja

In this episode, I’m joined by Darja Striletskaja, an award-winning lash educator with over 15 years in the beauty industry - and a story that truly inspires. Originally from Estonia, Darja took her very first lash course back home before making the incredibly brave decision to move to the UK completely alone at just 21 years old. No friends, no family, no safety net - just belief in herself and a vision for her future. From working in salons that didn’t quite meet her expectations, to finding her place in the industry and building a career she’s now recognised worldwide for, her journey is one of resilience, growth, and purpose. After training with Hanna at London Lash, Darja went on to work in a London Lash salon and eventually became one of the brand’s most respected educators. She’s since won multiple awards, travelled the world delivering training, and is now in a senior role supporting other trainers, distributors, and the wider education network within the company. ✨ The main focus of this episode is education — and what it really takes to become a great educator. We talk honestly about: What foundations you must have before becoming an educatorThe key qualities that separate good trainers from great onesHow to stand out in a crowded education market and find your own laneThe realities, pressures, and responsibilities of teachingWhy Darja didn’t feel “ready” to become a trainer and how she overcame that  fearHow observing other educators shaped her own teaching styleUnderstanding different learning styles and managing student behaviourDarja also opens up about opening and later closing her own salon, and why she no longer works with clients at all. Her perspective on success, growth, and knowing when to pivot is incredibly valuable for anyone at a crossroads in their career. If you’re thinking about becoming an educator, trainer, or stepping into a leadership role in the beauty industry, this episode is a must listen. It’s honest, educational, and full of lessons you won’t hear on social media. 👀 We also hinted at a part two, where Darja would go deeper into her salon journey and the reasons behind closing it - so if you’d love to hear that, send me a DM and let me know.
