    The Stories We Carry

This episode contains discussion around mental health and suicide. Please listen with care and seek support if needed. In this episode of Ordinary Extraordinary, Karen O'Sullivan is joined by Chantelle Wallace, founder of Gearóidin Psychotherapy in Cork, for a warm and insightful conversation about the stories we carry, the power of connection, and the courage it takes to follow our dreams. Chantelle shares her own journey into psychotherapy and reflects on the importance of creating safe spaces where people can truly be themselves. Together, Karen and Chantelle explore how our early experiences shape us, the patterns we bring into relationships, and why it's never too late to change direction or pursue the life we want. With many thoughtful insights along the way, Chantelle reminds us that "It's never too late to follow your dreams," and leaves listeners with a powerful question: "What would you do if you weren't afraid?" The conversation also touches on self-care and the healing power of sea swimming and cold-water dips, exploring the many physical and mental benefits of connecting with nature and finding moments of calm in our busy lives. Karen and Chantelle speak openly and compassionately about moving from darkness into light, the importance of suicide awareness and suicide first aid, and why seeking help is a sign of strength rather than weakness. For those who may be considering therapy for the first time, Chantelle offers reassurance and practical advice on taking that first step. A recurring message throughout the episode is the importance of community: Find your community. Find your tribe. Know that there are people who are willing to help if you reach out and ask. Whether you're curious about therapy, navigating your own challenges, or simply looking for an uplifting and honest conversation, this episode is a reminder that none of us are meant to do life alone. Always Reinvent Yourself

In this heartwarming episode of Ordinary Extraordinary, Karen O'Sullivan sits down with Kathleen O'Callaghan in a very special setting—Kathleen's car overlooking the magnificent Cahir Castle in County Tipperary. The conversation takes us back 12 years to where they first met at a life-changing Louise L. Hay You Can Heal Your Lifecourse. Karen shares the beautiful affirmation Kathleen wrote for her all those years ago: "Karen, it is your divine right to be happy, healthy and loved. Let your wisdom and kindness flow from your gentle heart. Decide what you would like in your life and go for it." Kathleen reflects on a lifetime of reinvention, healing and service. From her work in reflexology and Reiki, to hosting a health radio show, examining for the National Register of Reflexologists in Ireland, working as an SNA, caring for her mother through Alzheimer's, and later supporting residents in a nursing home, Kathleen shares the lessons, challenges and blessings that shaped her journey. With warmth, humour and deep wisdom, she speaks about faith, family, loss, kindness and the belief that "Jesus had something planned for me." She shares touching stories about her beloved niece, the significance of ladybirds, and the importance of choosing how we respond to life's challenges. Quoting Tony Humphreys, Kathleen reminds us: "If someone is mean or nasty to you, that's their crap. How you take it on board is your crap." Her message is simple yet powerful: "Remember, you can do anything. If you can see yourself doing it in your mind's eye, then you can do it. You can reinvent yourself any day of the week. Life is full of endless possibilities. Never hold yourself back. Be kind and be good to yourself—and when you do that, you can do that for everyone else." A beautiful conversation about resilience, healing, faith, friendship, caregiving and embracing life's endless possibilities.
